You can’t play like Buffalo has and then shout excuses when you lose.
90% of the social media crowd is gross anyways. Refs, weather and injuries are the worst excuses in a winnable game. I think anyone with half a brain knows Buffalo played short handed but still had plenty of chances to put that game away. It is what it is.

IIRC Eric Wood said it was 112 degrees on the field today.  I'm not making it an excuse but that's a home field advantage that's unrivaled in the NFL.

    Rattled????????

The guy escapes so many sacks its not debateable.

If the bar is perfect quarterbacking then good for you. He didn't set his feet on the 4th down to McKenzie, had a couple of wounded ducks that almost got picked, but the guy threw it 63 times today in 90-degree heat with no Diggs showing up in the second half.

How many gut it out first downs did he give this team?

    Davis couldn't separate either.

Well Allen definitely felt the pressure all day because they were getting to him.  Perhaps "rattled" is the wrong word but he was feeling the pressure and he didn't feel comfortable back there.  How's that?

    A couple of positives.

    1. With even more responsibility than usual in terms of calling and lining guys up Edmunds was really good again.

    2. I thought from the tv angle Kaiir Elam had a heck of a game. Will want to see the all22 to confirm.

I'll add that Allen did not get hurt.  Just noticed Mac Jones left Pats game with leg injury.  Did not look good.

Trying to compose myself. The issue is the majority of injuries was on defense. If we lost 42-38 or something I don't think I'd be so annoyed. But somehow we only put up 17 points (plus the screwed up safety on their part). We needed the offense today, we needed our MVP today. And it didn't work out.

True the offense did not play well today.  First half Bills struggled against the blitz.  It was a tough game.  I wish McD tried the FG right before half.  Second half guys were dropping from the heat and just some bad plays all around.  Have to score when it's first and goal at the 1.  All those mistakes and they still had a great chance there.

So, from an offensive stand point, I think Diggs will be doubled for the game. I'm interested to see the game plan that gets Knox, McKenzie and Crowder involved when that happens. And maybe Davis, though I'm not convinced he's a full go. Is this a McKenzie game ala the Patriots last year? The Dolphins played a lot of zone against the Patriots and then went with man against the Ravens. Will be interesting what they decided to do.

Miami's thin at CB and Howard if he plays isn't 100% (groin).  Could be a long day for Miami D.

Tim Settle is the big question mark for me.

Daquan Jones is a stud, but more of a space occupier.  Bryant is solid, but also more in the mold of a big body space eater.  Without Phillips and Oliver, we’re more relying on a DE kicking inside to provide pass rush up the middle.

Im thinking we might see more of Rousseau at DT on passing situations and/or Basham.

  7. The injuries suck no doubt but does anyone think Miami's defense can stop the Bills offense?  Even if Davis doesn't play I don't think so.  Xavien Howard has a groin injury.  Even if he plays he's not 100%.  Diggs will torch him.  Robert Needham is a slot CB playing CB2 because Byron Jones, the usual CB2, is on IR.  They have an UDFA playing slot now.  The Dolphins are hurting at CB too.  Not just the Bills.

I'm not sure what I'm rooting for more here:

    - A 42-6 win that exposes Tua as a limited QB that withers under pass rush.

    - A 42-30 win that gives Dolphin fans false hope of false deliverance at the QB position, only to have their dreams crushed on their December Iditarod to Buffalo. Granted, it won't be late enough in the season where it'd be the likes of Antonio Williams and Dean Marlowe doing it.

    I'll take 42 - 6.  Thank you.  Then Miami's 3 fans can STFU!

Honest question, for those posting Johnson and Hamlin will be fine. What are you basing that on? Hyde and Poyer have barely left the field in the last four years. There is very little game tape for any of the back up safeties. For a few years, Neal was the 3rd safety.

I'm not saying they can't play well, I just don't understand all the posts that say the defense will be fine or that the backups will play well.

I'm just basing it on confidence.  McD's teams rarely have mental breakdowns, Johnson has been here 3 plus years, and they've had 5 days to prepare as a team.  The Ravens secondary guys got hurt during the game and the rookies were forced into the game.  It might be a little ugly tomorrow but the Bills also have Allen.  The best player in the NFL.

Didn’t they blitz Tua a ton last year?

You might be right.  The first game he got hurt early on and left the game.  If they blitz oh boy.  They have Hill now.  I'd hate to give them cheap td's.  I don't think Miami's offense can consistently drive the length of the field against us even with the injuries.  That's why I wouldn't blitz.

  11. Miami has scored 62 points in 2 games.  7 came from a defensive touchdown and 28 came in the 4th quarter against the Ravens.  So that's 27 points of offensive scoring in 7 quarters.  The Ravens had injuries in their secondary during their game that forced them to play two rookies.

The Bills will be playing 2 rookies as well but have had time to prepare plus a bunch of reps in training camp and preseason not to mention 2 games that count.  Plus the Bills dline is better than Baltimore's.

Give Tua credit, he connected with Hill twice for long touchdowns and pulled out a win.  Allen is better than Tua in so many ways though and the Bills roster is better than Miami's.  McDaniel looks like he could be a good coach and they may be the Bills main competition going forward but their defense is pretty bad.

  12. It seems the media is always waiting for the Dolphins to show any sign of improvement.  Then they pump them up to a point where you either love Miami or hate them.  It's impossible to remain indifferent or neutral.  I've been around long enough to live through the 70s where we lost every game to Miami.  There were some close games back then but never a win.  My favorite Dolphins moment was the Bills trashed the Dolphins in a playoff game and the Dolphins defensive coordinator cried during the post game show.  Kelly and company just shredded them that day.

    Not really.

And even though I feel Hyde is a very important veteran piece to this defense, i don't think it necessarily changes this teams ultimate goal this year unless this season goes the way of the Ravens last year in terms of season ending injuries.

Make no mistake about it though, this type of injury list two games into the season is not a good omen no matter how positive of a spin you want to put on it.

Every team goes through injuries.  Part of the game.  McD is trying to keep the guys healthy.  Bills will be alright on Sunday.  They have a huge advantage at QB.

The Bills scheme may be a very good one on paper. However, you need players to execute the scheme. Missing key players and having inexperienced players is a huge concern. Scheme can only go so far.

What is the Bills strategy on defense? Is it clog the middle and prevent problems in the short to intermediate routes? How will they defend Hill and Waddle when and if they go deep? Will they match up one on one with Hill or Waddle? What about short screens to Mosert or Edmunds who are extremely fast? Do they play a typical bend but don't break defense? Don't give up the big plays and wait for a mistake? Lots of unanswered questions and unknowns about how this depleted Defense is going to perform. It's not a given what the defensive game plan and or scheme will be. It's not a goven the youngsters will step up. In fact, it's more likely the elite receivers of Miami do what they do. If Tua continues to take the next step the Bills will have a very competitive game in Miami. Bills coming off a short week, injuries, and facing a confident Miami team that has nothing lose and everything gain.

But what about when the Bills are on offense facing the worst ranked Dolphins defense?
