  1. Somebody lied. If they lied, then they need to be charged. That's the standard.
  2. She was an Obama administration official, she really has no choice but to defend it to the end. You can see the renewed vigor with the righties right now, they feel empowered. The energy is definitely with the right.
  3. Count me now in the regulation of Big Tech crowd. I am firmly on the - NOT too much regulation- viewpoint, generally speaking. But Google, Twitter and Facebook wield too much power. We are seeing it right now, they are censoring more and more with each passing day and now with the Virus they believe they have a license to censor pretty much anything they disagree with. It's bad enough that they have censored two very popular videos about the Virus over the past couple weeks. Things that they deem to be "unsubstantiated". If we are going to censor unsubstantiated claims then you may as well censor half the wild eyed conspiracies coming from the mainstream media. Who is the arbiter? Who decides what is unsubstantiated and what is not? Now Facebook wants to warn people for "liking" "fake" news regarding CoronaVirus?? Debunked by the World Health Organization? Did they just say that aloud? Do they have any self-awareness at all? Does this not seem patently absurd that they would even believe this to be a good idea? It's truly outrageous. Then they have these fact checkers who have become arbiters in what is fake and legit news and the fact that they are the arbiters of choice is astounding to me. Every single one of them have a left wing tilt to them, every single one. If they are going to do this then they need to have fact checkers that are from an array of ideologies. This is what I'm talking about, this needs to be regulated because these biased individuals who all have similar viewpoints are making huge impacting decisions. I will leave you with this - and GET A LOAD OF THIS BS. The Atlantic Magazine which is probably one of the premier sites where institutional Democrats - acela corridor types - consume intellectual content only to vomit those thinkings on the rest of us rubes. Here is what they said about Censorship- Read the entire article, it is absolutely amazing what they are wanting to do......They don't even hide it anymore. This is just a small snippet . It's time to regulate these entities in ways they hadn't been before.
  4. Is there a thread on internet censorship?
  5. If the effects of the shutdown weren't bad enough as it is. Then there is this:
  6. The whole damn thing is unraveling, every single bit of this Russian collusion BS was exactly as the president said, one big Freaking HOAX. Remember Obama official Evelyn Farkas? Remember when said claimed to have known evidence that there was collusion on MSNBC? It was big news at the time. She admitted under oath that she lied. Isn't that defamation? They should go after all these people who perpetuated these lies and conspiracy theories that wasted two years out of this countries time, it consumed the nation, it consumed the airwaves, it consumed Trump's first two years. It was a huge weight that carried over the nation and now we know that without any doubt, not one scintilla of doubt with 100% certainty, they lied. And it wasn't just these mindless media hacks, it was validated under false pretenses by people like Comey, McCabe, Farkas, Clapper, Brennan and the list goes on and on. They should be taken the court, if not criminal then civil. And they should be hammered so much that they are bled dry with lawyer fees. People need to be punished for this, to the max.
  7. This was something that I was talking about earlier in the thread. The best gauge we have right now to truly determine the prevalence of the virus spread is not looking at total new infections per day. As testing goes up confirmed infections will not correlate to an accurate representation. A more accurate representation would be the rate of positive test results. If the rate of positive tests go up then that would imply higher prevalency within that particular area. The lower the rate of positive tests the lower the prevalency. Florida over the past 3 days has shown a test positive rate of a little over 3%. To put things into context at its peak New York was at a peak of 55%, which shows how widespread it was at that time, since then it has plummeted to about 15%. Below is a depiction of 3 charts. The scary total confirmed infections which is just an accumulation chart that many in the media like to promote hysteria. The ones who promote this know what they are doing, there are ulterior motives aside from informing people. The next is the total new Confirmed infections per day. Some in the media promote this and I won’t go as far as to say that they are trying to scare people, they just haven’t put two and two together, for many they think this is the best gauge. Then there is the total test positive rate. Most people are not aware of this gauge. This is the one that I would recommend for people to follow. It’s not a perfect science but you can extrapolate an assumption that it captures asymptomatics as well. Not perfect but definitely better than just looking at raw confirmed infections. The lower the rate, the lower the spread.
  8. Ben Rhodes is such a hack. He was the one who lied and then boasted to media journalists about the Iran timeline to get it to go through. He is as about as toxic as they come. He could barely get it out of his mouth that he didn’t see anything. The guy is a scumbag sleazeball. The worst that political class has to offer and that is bad.
  9. It’s part of the toolbox but many of the people promoting it are implying that with increased testing and contact tracing we will be able to miraculously contain it and essentially have safe conditions for work. It is being used as a predicate to reopen, as if that is going to make a meaningful difference in the infection rates at this stage of the game. It won’t. Ive been following Nate Silver on this pandemic and even though he is an avowed leftist he’s not your typical vapid gotcha leftist. He has been following this virus with honest data crunching.
  10. I was just watching Tucker Carlson’s show and he had Doctor Atlas who is former chief of neuroradiology of Stanford Medical center and he made this exact same point that I made last night. That we are way beyond the point to be able to contact trace to crush the curve. That only on a targeted basis. I wish I could get the clip of him saying that but I did google him up and he did write an OP ed 5 days ago where he made mention of it. ——————Widespread testing is not a predicate for reopening as above. And contact tracing is not valuable after a disease is already widespread, even though it would be an important part of the overall preparation for potential future outbreaks.—————-
  11. From the moment this began this has always been a partisan exercise with their allies in the media. They won't cover Flynn fairly and at this stage of the came, who GAF. The righties have plenty of outlets to get out their message and now that they finally have their people in the DOJ, and Grennel, they should follow this to where the evidence leads them no matter how controversial it may be. Take it to the limit and prosecute anyone who broke laws or abused their positions to the fullest.
  12. It is....After years of what Trump described as a hoax, there is some true vindication for Flynn and for that matter Trump. It's pathetic that we had to go through years of a true witch hunt, Trump wasn't wrong to call it this, I mean that is what it really was. I really hope that they can punish people and when I say punish I mean severely punish and put them away in prison. Comey is a professional in that I am sure that he took lots of steps that were just on the edge of potentially getting him in legal trouble but did just enough to possibly escape it and covered his tracks in a manner that the top FBI guy could do. I hope they get these bastards. With that said. Today is a
  13. Looks like Megyn Kelly is doing a sit down interview with Tara Reade. She's probably the perfect person to conduct this, she is pretty much straight down the middle. I would expect her to ask difficult questions to Tara Reade and have her tell her side of the story. And from Reade's perspective this is a good choice as well, she doesn't want to go with a mainstream outlet because she probably doesn't believe she will get a fair shake and she doesn't want to go to a right leaning network like FOX, so she doesn't have her story seen as something helping the right. I'll tune in.
  14. I largely will view it that way as well with the added point that GG said. That certainly would be a measure.
  15. I know talking about this subject comes off as cold and insensitive. But the median age of death in the US is around 80 years old. And most of those people have at least 2 comorbidities. I care for the elderly, I care for my parents. Despite them both being in good health I am advising for them to not go to public places only when necessary. I don't even visit my parents home, we talk through their screen door. With that said, there clearly are ways to craft better policies that we have already seen. With each passing day, as the data continues to pour in, I am in favor of a more liberal approach than what has been proposed to open up the economy. Again, I know this will sound cold, but the overwhelming vast majority of our population have the antibodies to fight this off. That is just a fact, an undeniable one at that. Just protect the front line workers, extreme focus on senior citizens and improve the therapeutics and let's just do it. The financial carnage and residual effects of these shelter-in-place policies or extreme social distancing will have a profound negative impact for years to come.
  16. I acknowledge that shutting down the MTA may not have been practical, but they could have done things to limit crowding, or changing the hours of operation or the amount of trips. Something could have been done. The sanitizing that they have in place is something they just instituted. But I think his biggest failure are with the nursing homes. Like I was saying, I'll give him a pass for being "late to the game" on the social distancing and the false assurances that the risk was "minimal". Because they pretty much are all guilty of this, but the MTA and Nursing home decisions I think missed the mark and could have been avoidable. I don't mean avoidable in an unfair hindsight way, these were decisions that were being criticized early on. I'm not a hindsight sort of criticizer, never have and never will be. But the things that I mentioned were debated and criticized early on.
  17. Truth be told, I don't hold this criticism against them too much. Yes, De Blasio, their health department commissioner and Cuomo all downplayed it similar to Trump. And if we are going to be honest, then you can see that many politicians from the left and right, including the media, even including Fauci. The footage and proof is there. And if you look at most of the criticism of Trump, it's mainly that he downplayed it and his stylistic mannerisms and oafish things that he says. But on the substance, the main criticism of Trump is about the testing. And if people are going to be reasonable about it, this wasn't an issue because of Trump, it was an issue because we just didn't have the infrastructure to ramp up testing as quickly as we would have liked. It doesn't matter if Obama had been there because he didn't do anything to leave that in place either. The general management style has been solid, I know partisans won't think that but it has. The biggest criticism that governors had was that they were competing for each other for materials, but the proof is in the pudding, no one died because of not having a ventilator. PPE equipment and the sort was largely available aside from some anecdotal instances that were amplified from the media. Again, my criticism of Cuomo isn't because he downplayed it or was late to the social distancing game, it was understandable. No one knew the extent of this until it was too late. And I like to judge people on a relative scale and relatively speaking he was inline with most others. My criticism of Cuomo is his disastrous policy on the nursing homes. That was disastrous. And also how he didn't shut down the MTA, which studies show played a significant role in the transmission of the virus despite Cuomo's touting of his hospitalization findings of who was infected. That data is incomplete as I previously mentioned. Even if you buy their argument that they had to keep it open, then they could have taken different precautions. They didn't even begin the sanitizing overnight deal until just a few days ago. They could have put different restrictions in place. De Sants had it right, he wanted to limit travel from NY and Cuomo was upset about it. Thought that DeSantis was unfairly targeting NY. DeSantis was right. And not only was DeSantis right but he put extra emphasis on the seniors in Florida, which the numbers bore out. Stylistically, I like Cuomo's approach. On the substance, he's failed.
  18. Research shows that New York seeded wave of outbreaks throughout the country History is not going to look kind on New York. I don't want to make this a partisan argument but on the substance, the worst governmental decision making in the entire country came from New York. I don't see how anyone could logically dispute that.
  19. I know the president is talking about maybe at the end of the year even though he has seemed to back off of that. With that said, I don't believe there has ever been a vaccine that has been developed and ready for distribution in less than 2-4 years. Grant it, there has probably never been such a response and strong desire from pharmaceutical companies to develop this vaccine and you will probably have regulatory bodies fast track it for approval at unprecedented levels but I would be cautious and not hang my hat on a vaccine being available for distribution in less than 18 months. So I just hope that those creating policy for citizens aren't banking on this to happen within that time period. Heck it may take much longer than 18 months maybe even never. Who knows?
  20. Can we just discuss the virus in this thread? There are so many other threads for people to discuss Trump.
