i agree with other posters w/ respect to a concern on his W/L record especially considering the conference he played in.. -
What should the Bills do at #8?
bobobonators replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i wouldn't be opposed to a stud OL. give even an average QB 5-6 seconds to throw and he'll rip an opposing defense apart. -

JARVIS JONES http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MJsBr8HqsEA If a team is able to get a solid 8 years or so out of this guy, he'd be definitely worth a top 10 pick. Could you imagine Pettine utilizing this guy? -
Jets’ cap number scares off GMs
bobobonators replied to truth on hold's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
lmao...ya on rotoworld Appearing on FOX NFL Sunday, Jay Glazer said the Jets "can't give the position away" when talking about their general manager vacancy. "They're calling back candidates who already turned them down," added Glazer. "Their cap situation, personnel, QB and the circus turned a lot of candidates off." One of those candidates could be 49ers director of player personnel Tom Gamble, who was once considered the odds-on-favorite for the job but may have spurned the Jets. ESPN's Adam Schefter mentioned earlier on Sunday that ex-Bears GM Jerry Angelo is a "name to watch." -

it's amazing how Bills fans view opposing players with rose-colored glasses and view our own players as garbage. "Alex Smith is more accurate than Fitz"; "Alex Smith is much better than what we have"; "I'd rather have Alex Trebek than Fitz" lol (my personal favorite) 1. Alex Smith has a career completion percentage of 59.3. Fitz has a career completion percentage of 59.5 (and Fitz has more attempts, so it's not a fluke)..not that either are great, lol. 2. Alex Smith's best year was 2011: 273/445; 61.3comp%; 3,144yds; 17 td; 5int; QBR: 45.8 Fitz's year this year: 306/505; 60.6comp%; 3,400yds; 24td; 16int; QBR: 45.5 3. Alex Smith has yet to even throw for 20 TD's in a single season in his CAREER. 4. Alex Smith has/had a top 5 defense, an ELITE TE, an ELITE RB, an ELITE OL, and better WR than us...and a genius coach who puts him in a position to win. Boy, that Alex Smith sure is a huge upgrade over Fitz. Lets draft a QB and groom him to lead us for the next decade.

after one of these running QB's has a game like Kaep did yesterday, we all start salivating and 3K threads are created about running QB's. when kaep gets completely OBLITERATED in the open field one day from the blindside and he's out for the count, we'll go back to saying how they're too much of a gamble. extremely mobile QB's like Kaep, Wilson, and RGIII are awesome to watch - you just better have a great backup ready to go at all times.

bobobonators replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The thought of trading for alex smith certainly isn't unreasonable. I just view it this way: the 49ers are starting their 2nd/3rd round QB (don't remember now what round) over Alex Smith. So the thought of us giving them our 8th pick for their backup qb isn't a good one IMO. I'd maybe consider giving them a 2nd round pick and another conditional pick depending on smiths perfromance. I'd be in favor of that. -

bobobonators replied to Solomon Grundy's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
no thanks.. We're going to trade down to around #28 from #8 to obtain this? Alex Smith's best season (2011): 273/445; 90.7 rating; 61.3%; 3,144yds; 17td, 5int Fitzpatrick this season: 306/505; 83.3 rating; 60.6%; 3,400yds; 24td; 16int The main difference between the two? We didn't have a top 5 defense and a genius coach who puts his QB in a position to succeed. Lets keep the 8th pick. -

WGR 550 talking about when to draft a QB
bobobonators replied to Canadian Bills Fan's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
You take the best player available in my opinion. I think you have to be careful with thinking that because a few rookie QB's have been very successful in the league that it's now the new trend in the NFL. Wilson stepped into an organization that had already made the playoffs without him - they have an AWESOME defense and a great running game. Kaep stepped into an organization that had already made the playoffs as well - they have an AWESOME defense and a great running game. RGIII is an elite talent much the same way Cam is. The skins made the playoffs but the Panthers haven't. Luck is a once in a generation type player. I'm just hesitant to think that this is some kind of new trend where the norm is to expect IMMEDIATE success from a rookie QB. I think we would be setting ourselves up for disaster as fans. Players like Dalton, Flacco, RGIII, Luck, Kaep, Wilson etc have all been successful. Players like Ponder (I don't care if he made the playoffs), Tannehill, Gabbert, Locker, Sanchez, McCoy, Quinn, Freeman, Clausen etc. have struggled. at the end of the day it's a crapshoot. the 49er's obviously didn't think that Kaep was their "franchise guy" b/c they didn't take him at #7 that year...seahawks no way in hell thought Wilson was their guy in the 3rd round..same thing with the bengals when they took Dalton in the 2nd. They all took the best player available with their initial picks and then took the best player available again in the later rounds. Difference between them and us is that their gms/coaches/scouts were smart/lucky and we weren't. -

bobobonators replied to papazoid's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
i think it's important to note that this is NOT a mock. Kiper is telling you who he thinks the best players are regardless of a team's needs. Kiper's mock would probably look much different, with 1 or 2 QB's sprinkled in the top 10. my wishlist at #8 would be Bjoern Werner, Jarvis Jones, Mingo, or Geno. -

Bills hire Mike Pettine for Defensive Coordinator
bobobonators replied to Smiley Dear's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Bills hired Mike Pettine as their defensive coordinator. Pettine's contract with the Jets expired after the season and they never made an effort to bring him back. So he makes the lateral move inside the division and joins new coach Doug Marrone's staff. Pettine's unit ranked eighth in 2012 despite losing Darrelle Revis for the season in Week 3. And in the three years before that, the Jets' defense was inside the top-five each season. The Bills, who have bounced between a 3-4 and a 4-3 over the last two years, have some serious building blocks on defense in DE Mario Williams, DT Marcell Dareus and CB Stephon Gilmore. -
