  1. Divisional rivalries aren't as simple as Team A beat Team B therefore Team A is better. The 6-10 Rams were not better than the 12-4 NFC Champion Hawks last season, and they aren't this season. The 5-10 Ravens led by Mallett are not better than the Steelers this season. Sometimes teams, despite how bad they are, play a divisional rival tough. Again, if a Jets fan came on here stating what some are stating, they would be laughed off the site.
  2. And the Rams are better than the Hawks the last 2 years.
  3. LOL. Wait, so are the Bills almost as good as the Jets or are the Jets a disaster also? I'm just trying to see what nonsense it is you're arguing here. Because if you think the Bills are a disaster what does that make the Jets? #6 in total defense #8 in total offense 10-5 W/L record. You're coming off pretty foolish. No matter what happens this Sunday - the Jets have had an excellent season. We all hate the Jets/Pats/Fins, there's no reason to have idiotic arguments about how much better we are when it just isn't true. Could you imagine if roles were reversed and a Jets fan came on here saying they were better than us at 7-8? LMAO. I'd love to know your response.
  4. My point is that he's making a big deal about the Jets losing to us therefore how much better can they be. Weird things happen in divisional rivalries.
  5. And the Steelers (who you probably think are worlds better than the Jets) lose to the Ravens in basically a must-win game with a QB who was on the team barely 1 week. You're making yourself look kinda silly man
  6. Other than maybe the Cardinals and Panthers and the Patriots (if they can get some WR back), how many teams in the NFL going to the playoffs are really that much more dangerous than the Jets (if they make it)? The Chiefs? Nope Broncos? Not really Skins? Nope Packers? Not really Hawks? Maybe Vikings? Not really Texans? Nope Bengals? Not really Steelers? Maybe, but as of now they're not even in it.
  7. This thread is ridiculous. In another thread I stated how the Jets have a better W/L record than we do. W/L's don't matter. I stated how they were top 10 in defense and offense. Stats don't count. So W/L's don't count and stats don't count. Beating the Patriots doesn't count b/c the Patriots have injuries. Gotcha. Talk about being blind to reality.
  8. What im saying is that we have talented players that have played ALL KINDS of schemes in the NFL. Instead of focusing on learning Rex's "complex scheme" they appear (some do) on complaining about it. But this goes back to my belief that bc the defense had ONE dominant season last season some players thought they were above learning a new scheme. Reality is if you dont believe in something from the onset youre most likely going to do it half-assed.
  9. Agree 100%.
  10. HAHA. In all seriousness: in my heart of hearts we overhyped this defense and this yr they took a step back. Dareus got paid. Hughes got paid. Mario is one yr older and obviuosly does not care to learn a new scheme. KW got injured and other DL got injured. Rex has not been able to get the most out of what he has because we obviously saw what this defense could do last year. BUT to be fair, we also cant act like this defense has been top 5-7 for years now. We had an outstanding season last yr. maybe last year was the outlier
  11. What i find surprising is that (as far as im aware) this has never happened to a Rex coached team. Hes had great defenses and average defenses. No one has ever complained about his schemes before - at least openly. All this complaining tells me that players arent holding themselves accountable for their production. When this happens we have serious problems. Rex didnt come to a perennial power house defense. We had one really good defensive season last year where pretty much everyone on the Dline was healthy all year. So for some players to constantly complain as if this defense was the steel curtain is disappointing.
  12. Lmao. In that case ill go with mutiny. Because openly saying its not my fault i suck or our fault we suck - it's the coaches fault - implies one thing: change the coach.
  13. I would be able to draw more conclusions if the sample was larger. We arent dead last in tunovers this yr. Revis back on the jets. What were the Jets ranking 3 seasons ago? We'll see what we rank next yr or even after this season is done. Still 2 games to play for "stats" this season.
  14. i feel that the heart of the problem is as follows: Some key players on defense never really took Rex and his scheme seriously. Could it be bc of the success the defense had last season that they thought they couldnt be told to do something differently? Perhaps. Its human nature too. Could it be that all the years with the Jets as a division rival the players didnt respect Rex as much as they would someone who they barely played against? Perhaps. A combination of both? Perhaps. From all the public complaining I hear i get the strong impression some key players on this defense started putting more energy into undermining the scheme than into actually trying to buy into it and make it work for them on the field. In professional sports the mental aspect of a player is so important that if they arent buying into what the coach is selling, youre going to have serious issues.
  15. So what youre really saying is that Rex's defense improved in turnovers this year from the Jets last season... Its pretty common to have substantial movement in turnovers from year to year - in either direction
  16. I think some of you are going off the deep end a bit, thinking its the end of the world with this 3-4 / 4-3 argument. Who cares what the base defense is on paper. The majority of our defensive stars have played in both and have been successful in both. The players have to perform. All this complaining by players is annoying. A bunch of Veteran players who have had success, coming off an awesome year (probably a little too high on themselves lets be honest), and when things dont go their way in the "new scheme" it's not their fault, its the schemes fault. BULL EFFIN SH*T Mario: youve played in a 3-4 before and you have never sucked to this level before. Thats on you fella. Dareus: youve played in a 3-4 in Alabama and on the Bills. Youve never sucked this much before. Thats on you fella. Some of these guys are taking this to another level to the point that its amusing. Its like if rex was asking them to become olympic ski jumpers. Hughes: rex isnt asking you to jump offsides 2x a game everygame and have a personal foul every game. Does Rex need to tighten the ship a bit? Yes. Do the players need to hold themselves accountable for their piss-poor BONEHEADED plays this season? YES.
  17. Yeh all he does is one handed catches Ignore the +2700yds and 25td in less than 2 full seasons.
  18. 3 starters on defense speaking out is extremely concerning. Thats more than a 1/4 of the entire defense. And 2/3 of them are nfl veterans.
  19. Our team was built? With a QB who basically never started a game and was a complete unknown and several question marks on the O-line. Maybe our defense was built.
  20. Sammy said it best: its up to the players to perform. All the offsides and encroachment penalties are on the players
  21. you cant fire a coach after 1 season in my opinion unless: 1. You were a clear favorite to make it to the playoffs and you end up winning 3-4 games. That does not apply. 2. There is some sort of public relations nightmare as a result of something that happens on/off the field. That does not apply. I just cant imagine Rex getting fired. The offense has improved with Roman. The defense took a step back. Our w/l record took a step back. But we're talking about taking a step back, not a 3-13 season. All this fire rex talk on here is kinda extreme IMO. just the same way the thought of going 12-4 this season was off base.
  22. But was it him up to that point? (The kc game) So theres a disconnect between the people in the booth and the coaches on the field on multiple levels. Jesus !@#$ing christ you cant make this up.
  23. I specifically remember arguing how Grantland's best case scenario of 10-6 was not an insult to the Bills. Numerous posters had us going 11-5 or 12-4 - which seems ludicrous to me considering how hard it is for any franchise to win 11 or 12 games even when they have a pro bowl QB on the roster. I specifically wanted Schwartz to stay and be promoted to HC. However, when Rex was hired I did not envision the defense being this average (especially bc of the talent already here). Sad how things have worked out.
  24. I agree...Though there may be some veterans on this team that have voiced out against things, maybe they need to look in the mirror just as much as they are pointing fingers. If that's the case, they can leave.
