Cam Newton is a crybaby
bobobonators replied to Buffalo Barbarian's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree about it being a penalty. In my opinion, the issue is more about Cam specifically saying HE doesnt get the calls other QBs get, alluding to some form of NFL-wide bias against him. The fact that we can all sit here and point out bad hits that other QBs not named Cam have taken further discredits Cam's argument. -

Gilmore needs to go
bobobonators replied to offsides#76FredSmerlas's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I believe he has to go as well. He will demand a large amount of money and i dont feel that CB should be paid a lot unless they are really really good. Gilmore is decent but his reputation is better than his actual play for whatever reason. -
Who is going to the Seahawks game?

Jealous of everyone who is going. Have always wanted to see a game in Seattle. Especially primetime. -

Not sure who you're referring to, perhaps the OP. As for me, i dont dislike Cam in any way. And as for the hit on TT, i agree it shouldve been a flag. The fact that it wasnt just goes to show how other QBs take hits as well and dont get the flags in their favor. TT didnt cry about it after the game to the media. Cam complaining about it makes it seem like hes the only one that takes hits; as if hes the exception. No, hes not. -

I understand that you dont think its a conspiracy but Cam appears to believe so by his own words. If Cam says he doesnt get calls that other QBs get what is he really trying to say? What is he directly implying? The implication is clear. Is it right for him to say that? There are plenty of QBs who dont get calls. Theres only one Marsha. Lol -

Lmao. K, lets go and walk through this for the 10th time: NFL is specifically conspiring to ignore hits on Cam. This is exactly what is being implied by Cam. He is not calling out a single ref. He is painting with a broad brush. He is calling all refs/umps into question bc he is not getting calls that other QBs are getting. Such actions by Cam specifically call into question a possible league-wide conspiracy. Why Cam. Why is that happening to YOU but not R wilson, Luck, Big Ben, Matty Ice, etc. Why is the league targeting YOU Cam? Ok, go. I want to hear Cam's thought process. -

Very interesting article. To me it comes down to this: if a player like Cam is going to vocally complain about not getting calls people are going to start looking at every play where he gets hit and question whether or not he should get flagged. Players that dont vocalize their complaints dont go under the microscope. Everytime Cam gets hit now whats the first thing people want to know? They want to know if it was flag worthy. It becomes an event. Cam needs to realize the NFL has much to lose and nothing to gain by having him injured. Refs arent out to get him. It defies logic. -

I agree. But its undeniable that Cam is a star. So by that logic, why wouldnt the NFL protect him? Cam is implying that the NFL is not protecting him the same way others are protected. -

I can see how someone like Cam who is so big and strong for a QB to not get a call his way after taking a hit bc he doesnt flop as often for example. Sometimes these less athletic QBs get touched and go flying backwards leading to a much more dramatic looking hit and possibly influencing a ref to throw a flag just bc it looked worse. Is it fair? I would say its not fair. Its almost as if its a curse for Cam to be his size and be able to take hits. I just dont know how much of the lack of flag throwing is attributed to refs having an agenda. Would you say a player like Russel Wilson doesnt get calls either? Andrew luck is a big guy too who scrambles a lot. I feel that hes getting killed every other game. One day Luck may literally die on the field at the rate hes going. -

Is it possible to have one ref that has a specific gripe vs Cam and will refuse to throw a flag? Sure that could happen. But to say that Cam systematically gets hits against him ignored, directly implies a league-wide conspiracy. No one cant argue that without implying a conspiracy. Its a slippery slope. Sorry. In this case i meant targeted in that refs are specifically looking the other way. Poor use of wording by me. -

Brady never runs so I dont know. Whats the point to overly protect Drew Brees who is a couple of years from retirement but to blindly ignore hits on a current and future NFL star? There is no logical explanation to say Cam is targeted by refs. -

Who are the Golden Boys though? The rules on hits to a QB who is in the pocket are different than the rules for QB's that are no longer in the pocket and are running outside of the pocket. So yeh, the hits vs a mobile QB are going to be worse b/c defenders can do more when a QB is outside the pocket. -

But isn't that the same for any organization in the world across the board? -

Thank you for clarifying and sorry if I misread. But for someone (Cam and other posters here) to say that he doesn't get calls like other QB's get calls, then there is an implied conspiracy there. If it's just bad officiating across the board, that's a whole other argument, and one I may agree with. -

I agree about the rules getting more complicated to understand and therefore enforce every single year. But why are there more rules in recent years? Because, we the fans, parrot what the media cries about for 24hrs/day whenever there are injuries in the league and say how violent the NFL is how they ignore head injuries, and how football is so violent, violence, violence, violence...So the NFL has to react to the 24/7 bashing it receives by fans and media and attempt to do something about it. The product we have now is partly a result of us complaining about how the NFL was. -

I wasn't there and you weren't there. Ed Hochuli denied saying that. It's a matter of he said/she said. I think Cam is an awesome athlete and player. The NFL needs stars at QB. There is absolutely no financial, ethical, or business incentive for the NFL to plot Cam's early demise. Zero. To imply that the NFL has some crusade against Cam runs counter to everything the NFL attempts to build-on as a league: star power, brand power, and revenues. Cam brings the NFL star power, reinforces the brand's popularity, and increases revenues as a result of his star power. -

I just dont buy it. Is he sitting there watching every game Brees is playing or every game that Big Ben is playing and keeping detailed stats of how many calls they dont get compared to him? Or is he just giving his biased/subjective view? Again, nobody answered my questions from earlier: 1. If we are saying hes not getting the same calls, then we are implying some systemic bias against him. Why? What incentive does the NFL have to have its young superstar injured? Bc there are so many stars at QB in the NFL and ratings are so high the NFL would rather have Derek Anderson starting. 2. Who benefits from this conspiracy to not flag hits on Cam? 3. Logistically, how does this conspiracy begin? Was the idea floated around at the owners meetings? Is Roger emailing all the NFL refs to ignore hits on Cam?
