  1. Every time someone posts a link to a Bills Video, I end up watch 3 or 4 videos. TT was a great back his first 5 years in he NFL. Just awesome, but what really caught my eye was Andre Reed and all the YAC he rang up. Possibly one of the best run after the catch receivers in the modern era.

Kelly, a gunslinger in his early days. Bfore the game took it's toll on him, what an arm (and accurate).

    What a run....damn....what a run.

I know, for all of those who think our Evans Owens duo is so fantastic, i can't remember the last time i saw any reciever in a bills jersey make those kinds of plays after catching the ball.

Cant even begin on the QB aspect...

  2. Ever hear the term "people in glass houses..." you freaking moron? Considering who our starter is, threads about how much Losman sucks are stupid. Have I cleared things up for you jackass? Now go back to sniffing glue.

    JP is that you??

Funny that McGuire and JP should be in the same thread as both are a much better suited for the second tier… CFL at best.

The TE vs JP question was already answered during the previous 2 seaons. Even though Losman lost that one, he could have been a hell of a double for Sandler in the remake of the longest yard...

  3. All of us here did not like it Jauron was hired as Head Coach. After last season, everyone wanted him fired. It looks like that might finally happen at the end of this season. But, as long as Modrak & Guy are still in power, we will not have a serious competitive team. Since Modrak & Guy have been here, the Bills record has been 55-84, a 0.396 win percentage. That is absolutely pathetic. Look at the Lions under Matt Millen and how long they have sucked. Now that Millen is gone, maybe the Lions will be competitive in a few years. Bottom line, we will continue to have a sub-par team as long as Modrak & Guy are in charge.

    Duh...

  4. Jim Hasslet will be are next coach.. If I am wrong I will leave this board forever. Anybody want to take that wager. Negotiations are already in progress I'm sure.

career NFL winning %43.5, another loser... You may be right as he fits the profile, bu ti hope not.

  5. Lifetime loser? What about 13-3? He is actually a Lifetime winner, who has been very unlucky with injuries and happenstance the last few years.

You are right on the money- top ten reasons we should keep the Dick:

10- he already has a house in buffalo and by not selling his house he puts one less house on the market providing one less unit of supply thereby helping buoyancy

9- He did go 13-3 once, and he did it without much of a QB, lightning could strike twice

8- he provides a nice focal point for the fans blame

7- his sideline passion. (on Madden 2010, he gets fired up every time Trent throws a pick). Must be like that in real life

6- The offensive system, yeah they can't get in the end zone or put up 300 yds passing, but his play book is environmentally friendly (few pages) and it prevents the players from having to learn a whole new one, which would be hard.

5- At 7-9, or almost good every year we are always only one more win away from good or average.

4- He's so nice to the players that they wont mind being a Buffalo Bill even when the team continues to suck

3- If Ralphie did fire him the water boy would have to coach until his contract competed

2- It's hard to find an coach in the NFL who knows how hard it is win in the NFL

and the number on e reason TO keep DJ

    1- his name is DICK

  6. Matt Cassel on the Pats vs Cassel on KC seems to be a good example of how an average QB can perform with a good line then a bad line. Carson Palmer stats are worth a look too.

I have also seen the scenario where a repeatedly breeched line causes a good QB to look quite bad. Payton has crumbled in quite a few playoff games after getting thumped repeatedly, and was rendered ineffective. Elway had the same problem early in his career. Also there was a counter point made that a good line helps the RB more than the QB, but if you can establish the run, which the Steerler almost always do, it helps the QB quite a lot.

I think what was always the hope for TE, was that he might turn out to be an average to slightly above average reliable starter, able to LEAD the team to WIN an occasional game, while effectively managing most. Granted, extraordinary players can succeed despite bad coaching, bad lines, poor receivers, etc., but those guys are few and far between... as we are all painfully aware

  7. So we can fix our problem of having proven losing NFL coach by replacing him with a proven losing substandard college program coach?

The guy actually has a worse HC record than DJ (~42% vs 40%), and in college football!!

Maybe Bills Nation deserves the perennial loser team we get...

    <_<

  8. Edwards sucks way more. I would take Cutler over Edwards 100% of the time.

Cutler has no receivers in Chicago and Trent has great ones. Imagine if the rolls were reversed Cutler would have monster numbers throwing to Evans and TO and Edwards would be worse if that's possible.

So like 'Italian beef' on Weck and then Roast beef on Italian-style roll ? MMMMMM.... beef on Weck

  9. for anyone who thinks his name is chris polian u r wrong. His name is bill Polian

If you read the article its about Bill Polians kid. he works for his old man in the Colts org, but apparently is a chip off the old block and is queued up to take over when Bill retires.

I'd be willing to give Polian's dog a shot at running the Bills organization...

  10. Maddog, Good organizations find a way to remain competitive even when their HOF QB eventually leaves the scene. When Tom Brady was out for the season last year the team didn't fold. They still had a very good record. Will the Colts be as good without the exceptional Peyton? Of course not. But that doesn't mean the operation will completely fold.

Under Polian in order to make full use of Peyton's talents he wisely developed a good OL, an excellent receiving corps and a good stable of runners. The Colts defense is not dominating, but it is a relatively good defense.

Football is not a one man show. Compared to other sports such as basketball the rosters are fairly large. Teams which are consistently successful usually have well rounded rosters.

Take a look at the Colts coaching staff. Under Polian the staff has been very stable for a long time. Compare that to the churning of mediocre coaches in the Bills organization.

There should be no surprise that consistently good teams have very strong and smartly run organizations. Pittsburgh, Philly, Baltimore, New England, Giants etc all have fundamentally strong organizations. It is no surprise that all these organizations draft well, work their cap smartly, are prudent about their free agent acquisitions and most importantly realize how essential it is to get a FRANCHISE caliber of qb. You can be very confident that in these successful organizations the football people make the football decisions as opposed to the losing Bills where the accountants dominate the front office. It also helps to have an owner who is not clueless about how to run a successful football franchise. :censored:

Exactly... effectively replaced Edgren James, kept WR pipeline filled so releasing Marvin Harrison didn't sting, I'd bet they'll find their next franchise QB in 2 years or less from Payton’s retirement, and will have an above average solution to fill the gap in between.

  11. I would say the db play is pretty good, but players are hitting them with a complete head of steam because our defensive front is very small. Byrd got hit hard on a play up the middle on Sunday and the runner was virtually unobstructed before contact. This doesn't help in terms of guys getting hurt.

Because of the Levy/Jauron method of building a football team, the Bills are weak sisters. There simply cannot be a team in the league who worries about playing the Bills and that is the sad part. We waste draft picks on small players and watch them either get hurt or run away the second they can.

The 09 draft was a good one but bear in mind that we did lose a very good left tackle in the overall process. As a fan, I cling to the possibility that they will build on this draft. Then, reality slaps me in the face and tells me they will not.

I can see the Bills picking in or near the top 5 in 2010 and going with a blue chip safety. He might be good too but it won't matter. Whitner will be gone and we will be at square 1.

Or, they will take a first round qb and put him behind Tinker Bell at LT. Maybe they will grab a flashy ticket selling receiver to replace TO, right?

If fans like us know the above to be true, one would think that football people would as well but the lunacy seems to be never ending. I love being a Bills fan and a part of this community, but they are going to have to make sweeping changes before this team has any chance at all to compete.

I couldn't agree more. Remember when these dolts converted Coy Wire to LB at 218 lbs or something? Back then it seemed like a novel savy use of existing talent, little did we know it was just our first glimpse of incompetence and the penchant for trying to put square pegs in round holes.

  12. Walsh did not "love" Trent.

He called Marv Levy after Buffalo drafted Edwards and said "you got yourself a good player", that's it. Nothing more to it.

Coincidentally, the last place Walsh coached during his illustrious career was Stanford, where Edwards played. He never coached Trent, and wasn't involved in recruiting him. He was, however, still partially involved with the 49ers organization, and yet they didn't draft him.

So he couldn't have "loved" him that much.

I thought the Walsh quote was "helluva qb" or along those lines. Anyway, it matters not. Bottom line is the FO and Coaching are so inept, its too hard to tell if TE is a bust or just undeveloped talent.

It would be nice just to find out, but the wheels of change are stuck, thus the only way we will likely confirm one of the two scenarios is when the Bills entrench the next tackling dummy and TE is booted to a new environment.

  13. Aaron Rodgers has looked pretty good with worse protection, he does lead the league in sacks, and thats including already going through the bye week

Too many people think that just giving the QB time will help. The problem is, one QB can't throw a deep ball to save his life, and the other is a backup who is mediocre at best and has his #1 WR who feels that taking Friday off will help more then getting your timing down with a new QB

Biggest mistake of the season by management was not dealing TO for whatever they could get at the deadline.

Oh how i wish his team was a mere good QB away from being average... or at least just enjoyable to pull for...

Byrd will likely be the one bright spot from this year.
