  1. Im not on the "weather matters" wagon, but If you're gonna dog some players from certain areas for not having cold weather experience, don't go and hitch the wagon to a guy that has never left the state of florida, at least be consistent

Agreed, Kelly has waffled a bit on that from one to the other. Not sure what draws him to the Tebow Bandwagon...

My guess is the convention came from the thinking that a guy who can do well in the cold weather will help you win games when its cold, like the playoffs particularly if your home stadium is in the North.

I have heard the speculation that it’s all about hand size… i.e. Favre does not drop off in performance in the cold as he has monster bear paw man hands… My earlier point was only that it’s a question which should be answered. I am sure the Jets at least checked into Dirty Sanchez and his ability to play in the cold, wet or both.

  2. for a team and fanbase that values guys that have played in cold weather I'm shocked that very few have brought up the fact the tebow has played his entire career in florida, and we have no idea how he would react to the cold weather. How are his floaters going to drift in the buffalo winds, it's a legit question that I haven't seen asked much, and I can't believe that kelly has hitched his wagon to Tebow after all that talk of needing a buffalo guy, not cali Qb stuff, TT has played his entire life in the sunny state of florida, and kelly conveniently neglects to acknowledge that.

According to this link his coldest game has been 50 degrees... So it is certainly a question mark. Hopefully in the one on one workout they take him out into the cold...

  3. I do agree with everything except your take on Trent. I do believe Cinco COULD be a servicable QB again unfortunately I think his mental is completely f*&ked up. I dont believe he is strong enough to overcome it.

Bouncing off of this point, even if Chan can resurrect TE to be serviceable, he still may be one big hit away from reverting back to checking down the ball like a hot potato.

  4. Which would have been made up by Brady in two plays and 25 seconds against the soft zone Jauron would have played.

Play-not-to-lose coaches usually instill a play-not-to-lose mentality on their team. And that combination usually leads to a lot of losses.

Seriously With Ellison manned up on Watson they could have scored on that same toss over the middle 6 more times if they needed to.

  5. Had my Bills jacket on and she came up to me and asked me if I was from Buffalo.

"My brother played for the Bills...Josh Reed."

oh ya, heard we just released him

"Ya he got a call from New England this morning. He could sign there later today."

are you kidding...I can so see him playing the Wes Welker type role, scoring TD against us!

It takes courage just to be a bills fan, but to advertise it... I am really proud of you for wearing the Bills jacket in public man!

  6. Based on a quick search it looks like below are the '10-'11 opponenets. With the current team, I'd guess 4-12 to 6-10 with and a total sweep from division foes. A solution at QB and the tackles/center would really be nice.

    Home:

    Miami Dolphins

    New England Patriots

    New York Jets

    Cleveland Browns

    Pittsburgh Steelers

    Jacksonville Jaguars

    Chicago Bears

    Detroit Lions

    Away:

    Miami Dolphins

    New England Patriots

    New York Jets

    Baltimore Ravens

    Cincinnati Bengals

    Kansas City

    Green Bay Packers

    Minnesota Vikings

  7. The only reason our secondary was ranked that high is because of how bad we were vs the run. Not really saying we dropped the ball though, the Jets have a much better front 7 to mask Cromarties tackling "ability". I do believe though that Cromartie would have made our secondary a very good unit, instead of a better than average but slightly overrated unit that they currently are.

Listen DJ you are no longer the Bills coach and DB is no longer the focal point of the team.

    Let it go...

  8. QB threads are getting old.

Buddy - please draft the best available QB in each round, pick up all available cast-aways, untendered free agents and late pick tendered free agents, raid the practice squads too...

Send them all to an island to play survivor and put the top three on the roster.

    DONE

  9. When will the washed up loser QB threads stop? Seriously, if a guy hasn't won anything somewhere else, why would you want him here? Seriously?? How many people would pay money to see these guys play?

here's the list of garbage QBs i have seen threads on here recently:

    Donovan McNabb

    Jeff Garcia

    Jason Campbell

    JP Losman (part 2)

    Micheal Vick

    Dante Culpepper

    Chad Pennington

    Charlie batch

and a few others that escape me at the moment. Why on God's green earth would anyone want a guy who hasn't won anything other than some regular season games and a few (very few) playoff games to come here. And if you're thinking veteran leadership, forget it, these guys will only mentor mediocracy.

Start new, with good solid coaching and a quality offensive scheme, surround said young QB with talent. forget the washed up bums, has beens, and never will-be's. I know the team hasn't won a playoff game since the music city mistake, but i have not sunk that low that i want to see some of this trash in a Bills uniform.

After I got 3-4 posts in I had the same thought. No more dumpster Diving. We need to take the approach that gets us a Roethlesberger, Stafford, Rodgers, or even Flacco or Sanchez young up and comer, then pull togehter a solid line that will allow us to run the football.

As a side note on QB's. I watched a you tube video of John Skelton. Have not heard much about him previously. What a horse and what a cannon... Reminds me a little bit of kelly, big guy short flick like throwing motion for a 20yard bullet. Anyone know any more about him?

  10. Andre Reed

    -----------------

    Receptions 951

    Receiving yards 13,198

    Touchdowns 87

    7× Pro Bowl selection (1988, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994)

    2× Associated Press Second-team All-Pro selection (1989, 1990)

    3× Newspaper Enterprise Association Second-team All-Pro selection (1989, 1990, 1991)

    Buffalo Bills Wall of Fame

    Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame

Also in 1989 he put up 1300+ with FLIP JOHNSON as his #2...

    Eric Moulds

    ------------------

    Receptions 764

    Receiving Yards 9,995

    Touchdowns 49

    3× Pro Bowl selection (1998, 2000, 2002)

7 times Reed was one of the best receivers in the NFL and he is also HOF nominee. Moulds will never be close to a HOF'er. I don't see where Lee Evans even get mentioned among these two based on his accomplishments thus far.

  11. I do not understand why Jones has been such a journeyman. All he does is run hard, hang on to the football and consistently produce. For the last 5 years he has played all but 1 game, and put up over 1100 yards each season. He also gashed the Bill for 300+ this year.

He will be a great free agent pick up for a team weak at RB, Bills are ok there. I hope he lands outside of the AFC east.

  12. As a point of interest I figured I'd share after a 20 seconds of web searching, a list of Bills QB's drafted since 1970...

3 92 Trent Edwards Stanford Buffalo Bills

    1 22 J.P. Losman Tulane Buffalo Bills

2 45 Todd Collins Michigan Buffalo Bills

12 313 Brian McClure Bowling Green State Buffalo Bills

3 57 Frank Reich Maryland Buffalo Bills

1 14 Jim Kelly Miami (Fla.) Buffalo Bills

2 48 Matt Kofler San Diego State Buffalo Bills

8 202 Todd Krueger Northern Michigan Buffalo Bills

5 116 Dan Manucci Kansas State Buffalo Bills

5 115 Fred Besana California Buffalo Bills

3 70 Gary Marangi Boston College Buffalo Bills

3 57 Joe Ferguson Arkansas Buffalo Bills

2 30 Dennis Shaw San Diego State Buffalo Bills

I don't know who it SHOULD be but MAN are we due. I think other than Kelly and Fergy these guys all were/are career back-ups at best.

  13. If/when Whitner is traded/released will that cement Marv as the worst GM in NFL history? I know Millen was awful but Marv's decisions wereworse. Not trading down when Denver offered, Tutan Reyes, Bennie Anderson, trading up for McCargo and Poz, grossly overpaying for langston Walker, Robert Royal, Derrick Dockery, and listening to a cancer riddled Bill Walsh about Trent. Fred Jackson. That's his only contribution....

This is a bit extreme. Marv built an just below average team. That makes Marv a pedestrian GM at best. WORST EVER? The team Millen Built went 31-94 which amounts to a 25% winning rate, The team Marv built went 27-37 for 42%. There may be a slight variation based on the time line but in general Marv was not horrible just not good.

You gotta think if you haven't climbed the ladder to GM in 80 years you probably aren't the best guy for the job. Worst ever? NO

Right now I am much more interested in what Buddy Nix will do.

  14. Lynch for Rivers :wallbash:

I know right? Any combination and number of Bills in a trade for a real QB would be a win... we are on like 14 years since Jimbo left *sigh*

I really, really hope the 2010 Draft becomes a memorable one in a good way!

  15. Lynch for an OL or DL.

Yeah the trenches. I feel the Bills should be open to any and all deals that will help build a solid team in the trenches and at QB. Decent WR's and RB's saturate the free agent list and draft every year, (see the Patriots and Jets).

  16. There I said it...

I know Lee is a great player, I know he is a great team player, I know he still has productive years ahead. I hate the bills underutilize him. I am a huge fan of his work ethic, and I do not blame his lack of offensive output on him or his abilities.

    That said-

This franchise is years away from having a solid QB situation, the Line is still problematic and even with a reputable second threat, he was still underutilized. There are plenty of receivers in the league that can put up a 600 yard season. Lee is the Ferrari we can’t drive over 35 m.p.h. and won’t have the ability to until he starts breaking down himself.

Meanwhile, Lee is in his prime. He is the 2 or 3rd highest paid WR in the league. I suspect there are a number of teams that believe they are one Lee Evans away from a ring. Manning could use Evans to replace the void left by Harrison as one example, there are more. (SD, NE- though I would never advocate it, etc.)

I argue he is one of the Bills with the most external value and his low productivity on the bills (due to QB , scheme, cast) would be most easily replaced by a serviceable veteran, journeyman or 4th-6th round rookie.
