  1. In his presser, Tomlin basically called the Patriots out for cheating, and defended his position.

I'm beginning to think there is a significant minority (10-15) of owners who either want

    a) the Patriots nuked and beli gets a life time ban

    or

    b) roger goodell fired

    or

    c) both

Johnny, pre or post game presser? Wanna look it up .... got a linky to help me?

  2. I hope this is OK not to bury at the end of a long in-game thread which has already degraded to arguments?

    1) how can a team have a QB throw 68% completions on 38 attempts for 351 yds, gain 134 yds rushing, dominate the TOP by 4 minutes, and yet look so completely inept on offense?

    2) I hope folks will remember this game if we're tempted to rag on our young QB. Roethlisberger is a genuinely good, maybe great, QB, and he misfired a few times tonight. The TD pass where the receiver slid out of bounds as he caught the ball is one example - anyone else notice that he had to drop low to pull it in? The INT was just bad. Good QB make bad plays sometimes.

    3) That strip fumble was a thing of beauty. The Pittsburgh D missed such a game-changing opportunity there.

    4) Is it true that no one can cover Gronk, or was the PIttsburgh 2ndary just messed up and the announcers ball-washing Gronk and the Patsies***?

Edit: must mention ....5) Best play of the game: safety blitz on Brady. I literally screamed like Fitzy

    6) I hate the Pats***. I do so most sincerely hate them.

    7) GO BILLS!

  3. What good are predictions if they are wrong?

They can make you feel good if they predict your team will be good and go to the playoffs, even if it isn't true.

And they can make you feel good if your team is good and goes to the playoffs, but they predicted your team would suck and live in the cellar. You get to exercise the "Nya Nya" clause at them.

So you see, predictions are always good, whether they're good or bad, it's just the timing (before or after season) of when they're good that varies with the prediction. Accuracy is irrelevant.

Whether the foot photo in the Facebook photo is real or not, gotta love Rob Ryan's reaction to the original kerfluffle:

"Aw hell who cares," Rob Ryan said Monday in the Cowboys locker room. "Believe me, everybody has whatever screwed up thing going on. I don't care. I'm sure you do, and everybody else that points fingers. Who cares? Everybody has a life off the field. Who gives a crap? I'm sure I'm worse than he is. So big deal."
Rex Ryan has never addressed the alleged video, offering a no comment about his personal life.
Rob Ryan all but confirmed the video was authentic with his response to a question about being disappointed that the matter became public. He said his brother was freaky.
"Naw, I mean hell, he is a little freaky I guess," Rob Ryan said. "Hell, I don't know. I like everything about my wife. She got great feet, too. She got everything nice. What the hell."

Got to love those Ryan brothers. "Hell, I don't know. I like everything about my wife. She got great feet, too. She got everything nice. What the hell."

The question I have is...Are the black stocking on your head or her legs?

    *zap*

He better get a nice picture of LeSean's feet! Those are the only feet that matter right now.

Rex doesn't give a crap what LeSean's feet look like, Neighbor. He only cares what they DO ON THE FIELD. PS a photo of his RB's feet - now THAT would be wierd

  5. For those who have read my posts over the years, you know I'm a glass half empty guy. I have a feeling that this may be the guy. He looks poised and in control. He has freakish athletic ability. We finally have an NFL caliber coaching staff. Thanks Terry. Not sure where we end up, but it's great to finally have an organization that is trying and working their a$$ off.

Did anyone catch the bit from John Murphy's interview of David Lee where Lee claims Taylor has a photographic memory, to go with everything else?

  6.

I see it...they are more of a superbowl team then the Bills, they have an elite QB who still hasn't come close to reaching his ceiling. We have no one who is proven at the most important position in the game.

Colts were 19th in the league in Defense- points allowed last year. What have they done to get better? They drafted very heavily on D and made some FA signings.

At DL They signed Kendall Langford and drafted Henry Anderson in the 3rd and David Parry in the 5th. So it's a total overhall. Is it an upgrade?

At LB, they signed Nate Irving, who is listed with the "2s" and Trent Cole released the Eagles. 3 of the 4 haven't changed (Walden, Jackson, and Freeman). Trent Cole is an awesome player, but how much does he have in the tank at 32?

At DB, they signed Dwight Lowery released from the Falcons. 3 of the 4 haven't changed (Toler Adams and Davis).

So they have made changes...have they made enough changes to go from 19th to top-10?

  7.

Really, I thought that Tarpley showed well vs Detroit.

If there's one place Whaley's talent evaluation is probably sound, it's in spotting emerging LB talent. They won't necessarily look great off the starting line, and they don't have to - the idea is to keep bringing 'em in and letting them play ST, have them play well enough to fill in for an injury if needed.

  8. https://www.profootballfocus.com/blog/2015/09/09/ranking-all-32-nfl-starting-qbs/

The main knock? Just 28 regular season snaps. Curiously it's 28 more snaps and four more years experience than #24 Jaimis Winston and #25 Marcus Mariota.

Meh. I think his rating system boils down to "I took the PFF number and buggered them until the list matched my viewpoint"

I don't understand any actual fact-based system that ranks in rookies. However promising they are, it's really an apples-to-kumquats venture.

  9. None that I can think of offhand. That was one of O'Leary's points/argument in his Spygate book--continual success despite a revolving door of no name coordinators who try their luck elsewhere and fail miserably. In one case (McDaniel), trying to cheat elsewhere, failing miserably and coming back "home".

    ? More info please?

And Matt Cassel had his best completion percentage and yards passing in NE...and has been pretty much mediocre since (one season with KC aside).

He's someone who made a great deal of money off the Pats' cheating.

So when Cassel was good again in 2010 under Charlie Weiss as OC, was Weiss cheating?

  10. @FieldYates

Source: Matt Cassel now has a base salary of $2M, with chance to earn up to $4.15M thru incentives. His old deal had $4.15M base salary.

    You're quite welcome.

That sounds fair to all parties. At a guess, The Texans offered him about the same amount but without the incentives (or the #2 spot which makes it seem plausible he might earn them)

But that third stringer is expensive, counting for 2.5 million. ;-)

Since it's guaranteed $$ as is next years salary, it's on our books whether he's here or not (unless we trade him). Cheaper to keep him.

  11.

I thought he was waived / injured rather than IR'd?

He was, but no one picked him up so he's now on IR:

"Waived/Injured: When a team waives an injured player any other team may claim him (24 hrs). If a player clears waivers the player is immediately reverted to IR or the team will negotiate an injury settlement to allow the player to pursue other opportunities with another club."

So he's now on our IR list and no other club can claim him unless he negotiates an injury settlement with the Bills. The idea is that you can't kick an injured player to the curb, someone has to pay him until he's healthy. You can offer another team the opportunity to do that, or you can do it yourself, but in the latter case it's only fair you retain his rights

  12. Not trying to be argumentative because, like most Bills fans, I've had enough of this QB competition and am just glad that we have a winner, but I don't think EJ will develop as a number 3 QB. If he was 2nd string he would get some reps with the offense. As a third stringer he will run the scout team and will have to mimic the throwing styles of the QBs the Bills will play - I think that is disastrous for his development.

ChevyVan, can you expand a little more on this?

I thought the point of the scout team was to mimic the "look" of the offense they're about to face - the formations they use, the snap counts, the timing.

I never heard of the scout team QB trying to "mimic the throwing styles of the QB (their team) will play". I would think that would be very difficult and counter-productive, because the opposing QB in question may be very good indeed and changing the actual throwing style week by week would, it seems to me, degrade even a great QB's performance much less the scout team guy.

Anyway, I never heard of this mimic the throwing styles thing, but then, there's a lot I've never heard of.

  13. I can't wait until the Tie Rod people turn on him, as they did when their golden boy Orton failed. It is, what it is. I for one would love Taylor to shut me up and take us to the playoffs.

I can not imagine someone who calls himself a fan expressing this hope. As you imply, people will only turn on Tyrod if he plays badly and we lose because of his playing.

Why would a fan express eagerness for this to happen?

And keep in mind, currently the Bills also have Trick-shot Tanney on the PS. He could get some scout team work, too.

I thought the plan was to cut him and sign O'Leary

  14. Regarding scout teams... didn't Tyrod run the scout team in Baltimore as the #2 QB?

Yes, he did. But the roles of the #2 and #3 QB (if a team carries one) are basically whatever the coaches say they are.

Edit: and scanning the rosters, I don't think the Ravens usually kept a #3 QB, why should they with a well-established proven-durable starter?

  15. First, it makes me physically ill to think the scumbag franchise cheated all those years and were set up to be the 'model' franchise due to their illegitimate 'success' - there is absolutely no doubt in my mind they never would have won anything (no genius Bellicheat, no GOAT Brady) without the systemic cheating in multiple different forms that existed for years.

Actually I think the sad thing is that both Belicheat*** and Brady*** are immensely talented, driven individuals and would likely have won almost as much without cheating. Yet their long-term reputations in the sport are forever tarnished by the known cheating. After all, if a coach and team have documented instances of cheating, one always wonders if that is the tip of the iceberg and what cheating took place that has not been exposed.

I think it all started w/technology and the cutting of the headset cord and going wireless. Mix that in w/the green dot on helmets.

The game needs to get back to basics and lose the technology.

Because no one ever stole the hand signals used to call in plays (in the case of defensive plays up to 2008)? :flirt:
