  1. the booth yesterday referred to Tyrod as young and inexperienced. T is not a kid. He has just been hiding in Baltimore for four years. He will have more fans on his bus after Sunday!

He is not a kid, but he is inexperienced. It's one thing to watch film, it's another to read and interpret what the D is going to do in a few seconds every play.

I do think Belichek will stack the box and dare Taylor to beat him throwing. I think in Karlos, we may just have a back who can move the chains "in their face", and I think Taylor will show that he can go through his progressions and find the open man.

I am a bit afraid of cheap shots and injuries, even without Wilfork

  2. Dumb penalties and poor O-line play were my two big concerns. McCoy was a third minor concern. He did not look as good as billed. Is he not 100%? Sit him till he is.

Thought Shady did OK when they got him the ball in space? 46 yds. Would have had >100 combined yards with the TD that was nullified by penalty, had 97 as it was, about 1/3 of the yards not delivered by Tyrod's wheels. He did OK. Want more from him, get him some blocks. Shady is a back who needs blocks to maximize his potential.

  3. We like to rag on Lee, but his job was essentially to be a 6th lineman who occasionally catches balls. He was good at that, and was paid for it in Oakland. I think Mulligan might become our new punching bag.

Wasn't Mulligan catching everything thrown near him in TC/preseason?

  4. The real test of a new qb is how well they can handle the "looks" the Pats D throw at them. I think of all the times the Pats D have all 11 guys standing around the line of scrimmage and you have no idea who is coming. Now, with our running game goals, I don't think the Pats D can get away that. But still, how Tyrod handles himself, makes the right reads, and plays mistake free in this game will tell me what I need to know about him as a QB.

As of right now, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Rex' word on Tyrod is that "it's difficult to fool him". If it's true he's got a photographic memory and a penchant for studying the game, he will hopefully be able to make good educated guesses as to what's coming. I know on D, Rex prepares detailed charts trying to suss out opponent's tendencies with down and distance in different kinds of weather etc. I would expect that Roman is cut from the same cloth and will be coaching Tyrod not to be taken in by the cloud of misdirection.

    Tyrod should expect the unexpected.

And of course, some cheating, since it is the Cheatriots.

    "Move!"

  5. I am reviewing my my league pass specifically watching OL play against the colts

What people are saying about Henderson (and to a smaller degree....the rookie Miller) they must improve

I am into the 2nd quarter....a couple of specifically plays.....

Seantrel gives a minimal effort.....the releases to block on a screen.......Seantrel leads the blocking...then completely wiffs on the defender that tackled the ball carrier...I mean.....COMPLETELY wiffs....doesnt even get in front of him to give the runner a chance to make a cut to go one way or the other for more yardage....that play could ahve EASILY been a touchdown

    and

Running play to the other side of the line......defender comes through Seantrel's gap of responsibility without Henderson getting a mitt on him and makes the tackle while shady is running side line to sideline.....Henderson totally waste bends....doesnt move his feet and doesnt get there...

Thats not gonna do Seantrel you are way to friggen athletic to allow plays like that to happen......just friggen bad technique and lazy.

He has so much potential.....really need for him to live up to it

If he doesn't put out the effort, Kujo will get a chance to show what he can accomplish

Thanks for the input....can you provide any insight into Wood and Glenn? Typically when vet guys get flagged for 3-4 holds it's the tip of the iceberg

  6. cleveland was saying that, today, luck and Rodgers are considered better QBs than Brady. Not over the last decade. Right now. I would agree with that. They may not ultimately lose, but to not be worried at all about playing the Bills on the road would be the wrong approach IMO.

It may very well be true that Luck and Rodgers are better QB right now than Brady*.

I'm not sure that's the same thing as saying they're on better teams or have better coaching, which is one of the things that makes the Pats*** dangerous.

Well, that, or perhaps their superior secret cheating and rule-skirting abilities, if one believes that.

  7. Is a 6x knee drain a lot for a professional football player?

I said this buried in another response, hope it's OK to repeat: I have heard that (at least on some teams) toward the end of the season, most of the OL getting drained and injections weekly.

Whether it's a lot, or a problem, really depends on what the root cause is. If it's something like rheumatoid arthritis it's bad news. If it's something like he got his knee dinged and twisted early on, and never took enough time off for it to really heal, then an off-season of R&R and strengthening program should fix it.

I call "shenanigans" on the "we're not sure how long his knee would really hold up". No one is ever sure how long any part of any football player will hold up, or recover from injury.

  8. It is removing fluid that builds up around the knee. It looks like a deep reddish color, thicker than water. basically the body sends fluid to an area where there is some type of 'stress', this cause the swelling to occur.

You can drain the excess fluid off your knee and sometimes it will come back sometimes it will not. I have had it done a few times on both knees. It may mean there is a greater underlying problem or it could come from blunt force to the knee or surrounding area. Twisting of the knee can also cause the swelling.

It does not really hurt to have your knee drained. Sometimes the doc will put a cortisone shot in why he is doing the draining. This will help with stability in the knee.

My 2 cents, i am sure i butchered it and a real doctor can do a better job explaining.

Thought this is pretty good, myself

  9. What exactly is being drained, and why is it a recurrent problem?

Big picture: Excess fluid builds up in the knee joint and can impede movement. It helps restore movement if the fluid is building up in a defined area, the Dr can stick a needle in it and drain the excess fluid, because otherwise it takes weeks-months to reabsorb and restore range of motion. Small picture: the knee has 3 bursa (thin walled fluid-filled cavities). Bursae cushion and provide a lubricated surface for the tendons near major joints.

The real question is "why is the fluid building up and where?" Bursitis can result from traumatic injury, repetitive use injury, torn cartilage, tendonitis, muscle strain or tear, sprain, rheumatoid arthritis - I'm sure I'm missing a few - anything which makes the tissue think "hey, need more lubrication here". Obviously some of those causes are worse news than others, and some could indicate need for a surgical procedure. After rest and recovery, a proper strengthening regimen focused on the little stabilizing muscles that the usual equipment doesn't hit can really help.

But if a player has a knee injury and plays through it, it's not a shock that he'd need repeated drainings and probably cortisone injections through the season because it will never really have time to fully heal. I've heard it's not uncommon towards the end of the season that the entire OL is getting repeated knee drainings and injections.

    Too much answer?

It was in jest, but I am hopeful!

    No no no. You're Read83HOF.

    I'm Hopeful.

  10. They were 2-0 last year, 3-0 in 2011 and 4-0 in 2008.

I'm very pleased with the win, but it's a long season that will have ups and downs. I'll believe they can reach the playoffs when they clinch a spot.

This. I have high hopes. And I've been let down so many times.

I would hereby like to be totally inconsistent from thread to thread by proposing for Brady the new nickname "Rubber Tree Plant" and for Nickell Robey "the Little 'Ol Ant":

"Oooops, there goes another rubber tree plant"

  11. 1) Giselle didn't pack Tom's lucky UGG's.

    2) Tom was exhausted looking for suitable hotel room for his dad.

    3) Heard "Rex" and thought they were playing the Jets.

    4) They kept hitting Brady.

    5) Tom was sad because everyone kept yelling "Cheater!!"

    6) Brady arm got sore waving it for a penalty flag.

    7) The NFL wants Buffalo to win.

    8) Got into a fight with Gronk. "Anchor Bar of Duff's?"

    9) Headsets? Pats coaches couldn't hear each other because the fans were too loud.

    10) It's all part of Roger Goodell's plan to get the Patriots**!

    Did I miss any?

You mis-spelt "when" as "if" in the title.

re #9) I think it would be fantastic if some Bills fan technie managed to pipe crowd noise into the Pats headsets.

    re #6) sweet

The Bills balls were too big :D

My favorite. This one. Right here.

  12. Just havin fun you dont have to participate. Have a nice night

It's a polite request. You don't have to accede to it or even treat it respectfully (at least you're polite, but yeah, you're blowing me off). I'm gun-shy of all the great nicknames people come up with for "on paper the best DL in the NFL" and other instances where the attempted nicknaming preceded the anticipated performance, sometimes by a couple of years.

We could be great. We could disappoint expectations. For the love of Sunday, let it play out. If there's a good nickname, it will declare itself. We won, three cheers, but a team that spots the other guys 2/3 of a football field in penalty yards -- is that really executing well enough to deserve the little pun "rexecutioners" or would the joke be on us against a different team because we're shooting ourselves? Let's see it fixed first.

Again, that is a request - it can be ignored but it can not be fulfilled by my sticking my fingers in my ears and going "nanananana" while I don't participate.

did he really call him McRib? That is seriously the greatest thing ever.

    He deeed, he deeed.

  13. I would like to say congrats to the coaching staff, and team. Very decisive win, and Tie Rod, ran the Offense well. Suspect Defense the Colts have, but good win nonetheless. I hope I am back next week for another dose. Go Bills!!!!!!

We'll leave the light on for ya and meanwhile let me help:

  14. Impressive beatdown yesterday. Tyrod ran that O pretty efficiently and I KNEW your D was going to be badass. Hope Fins can get it together in a couple of weeks, but they didn't look too hot yesterday.

While you're at it, break Brady's fking legs next week.

I'd settle for a concussion, or even a sprained right hand. Don't want one of our guys suspended for life for breaking Mr Untouchable

Problem is that, they have looked beatable in the past yet they dont get beaten often. Heartening to know that we beat them with a Marrone coached team last year. So this year *should* be better.

The Pats*** regard last year as a pre-season-like anomoly

One can hope. My fave Pats beat-down was put on by the 2010 Rex-coached Jets
