Nate Peterman Love .. anyone vs. 2018 QB draft??
thebandit27 replied to WideRightRevenge's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Know what? I said that I don't think there's anyone on the board that believes that Tyrod is great or even win-in-the-playoffs caliber. What did I claim to know? Or are you referring to the idea that he's the best that the team is going to do for 2017? Yes, that's basically a known quantity. Peterman is a rookie that is completing 50% of his passes against backups and 3rd stringers. If you somehow believe that makes him better than the 7-year vet that's been 15-14 as a starter in the last 2 years, well, I think the onus is on you to prove your point rather than on me to prove mine. No? -

And Sammy was the far better receiver than Jordy Nelson in 2015...no offense, but that's a totally irrelevant point. -

Perhaps...but to me, he looks like a guy that's a ways off--which is all I'm really saying. I wouldn't have a real problem with that unless he was in the same situation as Jones last year--where he's simply not ready, and throwing him into the fire would do more harm than good (which is where I believe he is now). 1. No, Tyrod doesn't suck. Not by any metric that you can find...but feel free to show me why with more than just your opinion. 2. Don't attribute made-up arguments to me. You've never seen me say that Tyrod hasn't looked lousy this preseason, or that it doesn't matter because it's preseason. Debate the actual point being made as opposed to simply tossing out straw men to suit your fancy. 3. It makes less than zero sense to get rid of a QB that's had a record of 15-14 and lead an offense that ranked 7th in points scored last season (save for after the EJ debacle in Week 17) because you simply don't like the guy. I don't think there's anyone on this board that believes he's great, or even capable of winning in the playoffs; he's simply the best that this team is going to do for 2017. -

Honestly, that would be ideal...if they had a backup that they trusted -

That would be great! I agree that it's incredibly unlikely though--it took Sammy playing 6 fewer games for Matthews to have a better year than him. -

People... Pump the brakes on all this Peterman as the starter talk. Right now, he's a 50% passer with a YPA of 6.2 while playing against backups in the preseason--yes, he produced 1 TD. Hooray. For reference, last offseason, Cardale Jones was a 50% passer with a YPA of 6.1 while playing against backups in the preseasons--he also produced 1 TD. I'll continue to say it: if Peterman can develop into a solid NFL backup QB, we should be very happy with that result stemming from a 5th round pick...but him seeing the field with the 1's during the regular season is quite terrifying at this point. -
2016 TALENT VS. 2017 TALENT

2016 TALENT VS. 2017 TALENT
thebandit27 replied to Bills Pimpin''s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Because you've removed 127 receptions from that crop and replaced them with 114--and that's if we only look at 2016. If we look at 2015, then we're talking about Sammy at full health, and that's what you were looking at for 2017 prior to the trade. Furthermore, you've taken out of the mix the only WR that your QB has ever had any established level of trust and comfort. That's a massive blow to a passing game that relied almost exclusively on big-plays to operate at any reasonable level of efficiency. So I'll toss the question back to you, which group is more talented: Group A: Sammy Watkins, Robert Woods, Marquise Goodwin, Walt Powell, Justin Hunter, Brandon Tate Group B: Zay Jones, Jordan Matthews, Andre Holmes, Walt Powell, Brandon Tate, Corey Brown, Rod Streater It's a clear, obvious, significant downgrade in ability IMO. I don't see how a reasonable, educated football fan could see otherwise. -

Basically this...though he had 2 really bad games as a rookie--Tampa and Pittsburgh. Coincidentally, however, his 2 best games (home vs. NYJ and @Jax) came in each of the weeks that followed the two really bad games, which I (and others) felt portended well for his development. Unfortunately, as often happens with young QBs, DCs get an offseason of film on a guy and know how to take away what his innate skills allow him to do well. At that point, the player sinks or swims based on how well he can develop his secondary skills; EJ couldn't. -
2016 TALENT VS. 2017 TALENT
thebandit27 replied to Bills Pimpin''s topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
My comments above...I see 2 position groups that are clearly better (DL and S), 3 that are clearly worse (RB, WR, and CB), and 2 that show signs of potentially being better (TE and LB). -
It's so inconceivable that I'll only believe it when I see it--and then I'll issue a mea culpa to you Gunner

thebandit27 replied to GunnerBill's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
It could be that they're trying to see if he can start in this offense if needed, because if not, he doesn't have the versatility to be a game day interior backup, in which case they'll let him go. -
Bills GM Brandon Beane 'annoyed' by tanking talk
thebandit27 replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
The Bills operated out of zone blocking in the run game last year more than they did out of any other scheme: http://www.buffalorumblings.com/2017/3/15/14933170/buffalo-bills-lesean-mccoy-mike-gillislee-rick-dennison-run-game-zone-blocking -

I think Tampa Bay would make a ton of sense, though I really hope they don't move him for a song. -

I'll also say that I'm in relative shock at how good the LB unit has looked thus far--of course, with the DL playing well it definitely has a cascade effect. -
As I've said all offseason: Ducasse is horrible and never should've been signed. He's not fit to be on an NFL roster, and the fact that he counts as a compensatory FA is salt in the I-can't-believe-I-have-to-watch-him-play wound

Peterman has the look of a guy that can be a competent backup, which would really be a nice result from a 5th round pick. -
As I've said over and over: Taylor only ever developed a real comfort level with one player--Sammy. Sammy is gone now, and it's going to hurt the offense in a big way. Taylor doesn't have that I-know-I-can-go-to-this-guy player anymore, and the OC doesn't have the player that forces defensive coordinators to build their game plan around stopping him. It portends bad things.

Take away the only WR with whom he had ever established a rapport and that'll happen
