So now we want to get rid of Incognito?

I had zero interest in Hue as a HC. He's a fine OC--very good actually. His stint as HC with Oakland convinced me that he was hard-headed and generally lacked direction as a leader. The Browns' organization is really a mess. They don't have a GM, they don't have a QB, and they lack any semblance of an offensive identity. They're basically a team with a HOF LT, a few decent athletes on offense (Johnson and Coleman), and 2 defensive cornerstones in Garrett and Collins.

They had an offer on the table for Barnidge...something tells me that, if Barnidge were willing to take what he's actually worth, he'd be playing somewhere. -
Who had an entire offseason to develop a rapport with the QB as the team's expected No. 1 target in the passing game. If you don't feel that that's a different situation than coming into a new offense after training camp, well, I guess we're going to disagree on that point. Basically, yeah. IF the Rams find a way to incorporate him into their passing game in a big way prior to the end of the season, then it would be in his best interest to take a Jeffery-type deal with them.

Back in August, my preseason rankings were: 1. Mayfield 2. Rosen 3/4/5. Allen/Darnold/Falk (no separation at the moment) 6. Rudolph I haven't departed much from them, and although I'm sure it'll change come January when I go through every throw from every guy's college career, right now my QB board would look something like this: 1. Mayfield 2. Rosen 3. Rudolph 4. Darnold 5. Falk I really like some of what I've seen from Jackson, but I refuse to put him on my board because I feel very strongly that he needs to stay in school. You could say the same for Darnold, but I believe that Jackson has a strong chance to develop into an elite NFL prospect at QB if he stays in school and refines his passing game, whereas I think Darnold returning could go either way--he could develop into an elite prospect, or he could go in the tank a la Brian Brohm.

I make no excuses. All I've ever said about Sammy is that his per-target production was outstanding when he was here, but that he didn't get enough targets. Why that was the case was always a matter of opinion. Only 10 times in 43 career games. As I said two weeks ago, I think the best situation would be to take an Alshon Jeffery-type deal in a place that throws the ball like crazy and has a solid QB. Maybe a team like Pittsburgh or LAC would make sense.

I remember that well. All I can say is that you can get better, and I believe that you will. As others have said, it takes strength to seek professional help. I have a close family member that's been battling depression for at least 15 years, and it's a constant battle. But you can win; you will win.

He's not expected to play FWIW -
There are a few lessons to be learned with this situation: 1) don't expect a player to have an immediate impact being dropped into a new system with a new QB with whom he has zero rapport 2) don't expect a QB to be anywhere near as productive/effective when you take away the only WR with whom he's ever had a strong level of trust 3) seldom does a player leaving a situation where he's been productive result in him becoming more productive; the grass is almost never greener All that said, the book is not quite written on the trade yet. I like the way that Gaines has played, but ironically, his availability has been much worse than Watkins over the duration of their careers (and that's continued this year). Watkins, on the other hand, has been about the same as he was here: outstanding when targeted, but targeted far too little for the overall impact to be great.

For me, it has zero to do with BBFS; it has everything to do with that we have a team that is largely devoid of upper-echelon talent, but has been overachieving thus far. I fully expect a regression as the season continues; that, on its face, shouldn't be viewed as an indictment of what they've done so far IMO. Overachieving is a good thing--it speaks well of the game-planning and scheme.

Hey, this line of logic worked really well when you chided my pre-game opinion of Vlad Ducasse, so why not double down on it, right? I don't know that it's about ego as much as it is that McDermott believes that what he's doing is working toward fitting round pegs into round holes. I agree that the end result is what's concerning

This is my favorite (of many) Vlad plays from Sunday: https://twitter.com/lockedonbills/status/917854494456762369 Though this one's a beaut too... https://twitter.com/lockedonbills/status/917853234420682753 Good grief: https://twitter.com/lockedonbills/status/917842511871270914 Any particular reason that you aren't sealing the edge here Vlad? https://twitter.com/lockedonbills/status/917839915337048064
