It's not necessarily easier at guard; for some guys, it's actually much more difficult. Things happen a LOT faster inside, and you're facing bigger guys that are built lower to the ground, so the prototypical tall, angular tackle could struggle mightily to adapt.

Still think someone could pilfer Kelce from Philly. If they truly intend to tag Foles, then they need to ditch Peters, Bennett, and one of Agholor or Kelce...and that's before they make any moves to re-sign graham or sign draft picks. Someone is going to get a top-5 center for a song--might as well be us

The point is clear: it's a patently bad plan to rely on filling needs in the draft. Why? Because when you're on the clock, and a guy like Aaron Donald is there, you should feel totally comfortable picking him and not having to worry about filling needs. It's a far better approach to fill needs with known commodities in FA and use the draft to stock the roster with the most talented players. Also, if money talks, then forget about Paradis. The Jets have more cap space than the Bills and an even bigger need at center. But you should know at this point that money does not talk. John Brown, Bryan Bulaga, Rick Wagner, and others over the years have turned down bigger money from Buffalo to go/stay elsewhere.

I have a few questions here: 1) how well did the deep tackle draft in 2014 work out for Buffalo? 2) with $80M in cap space, why does it have to be either center or tackle? 3) even if Denver doesn't re-sign Paradis, AND the new OL coach wants to run exclusively zone blocking, how confident are you that he'd come here? A smart team would be doing everything that they can to fill needs through FA and trade so that they don't feel forced into drafting for need, which is never the best way to build a franchise. Why wouldn't Tate be expensive? WRs tend to get PAID on the open market

Yup. I think his body type and style of play are ideal for this defense too. That he's a super smart and engaging kid doesn't hurt either

Yes. He's a dog for sure. $10M is definitely the number, and I'm good with it. I also think Buffalo has an inside track to land him on 2 fronts: the Carolina connection, and they were very high on him in the 2015 draft. Their 3rd round pick came down to him and John Miller--Miller was a better fit for Roman's scheme. The challenge is going to be center. Better start calling Philly and working on that Jason Kelce trade, because Paradis and Morse will have a LOT of attention

Eagles can be picked on for sure. Peters and Bennett are almost certain to be gone, but that doesn't even clear enough space for Foles' tag number (if in fact they tag him and he signs it, which he should). They could cut Jernigan and Chris Long to clear out enough room to clear Foles, but they'd still have a LOT of work to do. I'd be trying to prey on them for Jason Kelce. He carries zero dead cap hit if they trade him (which would save the team $6.5M on the cap), and he'll be 32 at the start of the league year. Their only other source of cap savings would be to pull the 5th year option from Nelson Agholor, but I doubt that they want to go into the season with Mack Hollins, Shelton Gibson, Johnny Holton, and Braxton Miller competing to be Wentz's WR2 behind Jeffery. I think they really might bite at a Kelce trade. They could move Wisniewski over to center and field a line of Johnson-Brooks-Wisniewski-Seumalo-Vaitai and still be okay aside from depth. Sure is...there are some serious scheme fits too: Lawrence, Clowney, Graham, and Preston Smith would be ideal LDEs in this system.

It's an experience thing more than anything else. People just forget how much he got away with in his final year here. Don't we remember him mauling Allen Robinson on a key stop to beat the Jags right in front of an official? It's like that with corners. Once you get recognized as a great corner, you get away with more. But as the numbers show, he's actually been penalized more in NE than Buffalo

Well that's not what you told me. You said that you didn't read Cover 1 because Erik Turner isn't a real expert, which meant that the stats he posted didn't matter Seriously though, not reading the article is fine, but criticizing it without reading it is odd, especially considering that the draft impact from Dorsey idea was made very clear: he has relationships with certain schools, and so he'd have more incite into players from those schools; if Buffalo happened to have a need at a position that a player from one of those schools could fill, then that may push their draft decision in that direction

26th in the NFL in sacks, and had to blitz to generate any kind of consistent pressure. That's why people harp on pass rusher as a need...plus, at number 9 overall it's highly likely that the best player on the board will be a pass rusher (either EDGE or IDL).

That type of work is often heaped upon one guy on each side of the ball: the quality control coach. Basically, Belichick forces all of his young position coaches to go through the rigors of being a QC coach, which definitely helps establish a level of attention to detail that will be a cut above a guy that hasn't done so.

He looked solid in his few starts for Atlanta last year, and my hope would be that he'd be a Brandon Moore type late bloomer at guard. So yeah, I guess I expect a team to sign him as a lower-tier starter, but I think that he's a great fit for McDermott and has untapped upside

I'd watch for Ben Garland of Atlanta to be a player that the Bills may target. He's going to be 31 at the start of the 2019 season, but he's got very little mileage on him due to a combination of military service, positional switches, and practice squad time. He's a process guy for sure. If Beane misses out on the top-tier guards like Saffold/Spain, Garland could certainly be an option.
