Hey, our compadre is from Italy! It’s possible he doesn’t speak or write ‘perfect’ WNY-ese. It makes him/her no less a Bills fan and the point is spot on. Have you ever been worried with Josh on a 3rd & 7?  3rd & 17?? 3rd & 27???

I was thinking similarly.  If so, their mastery of English is much further along than my Italian.  My four years of high school Spanish taken over 40 years ago does not get me very far.  Now, if the OP is the product of a proud but inebriated Italian American Bills' Mafioso, then let the fun begin.

  2. Looks like we are open the season losing the gameday weather roulette again.  I recall that last year some were answering the "Bills gameday weather has been crappy" complaint of the STHs with "It's WNY, what do you expect."  The point was that the gameday conditions were consistently the worst of the 5 day window.  Patrick Hammer is saying on WGR now that the worst of it will clear by 4PM.

I havent been active in this thread since it was moved to OTW.  Now at 297 pages, its not something I have the time to read through.  But I am curious if there have been any news on the case.

Of course googling it did nothing, all the articles are weeks old because now that he is not on an NFL roster the media could care less.  But I see in this page there is talk of videos and stuff that came out.  The only thing I saw since the last time I was here was she gave an interview.  But reading some of the comments here, sounds like a video has come out on her from the night of the alleged event?

So can someone just give the quick cliff notes on what's happened since he was cut, if anything?  Just wondering if anything new came out that helps his case or helps her case.

The accuser did something of a media blitz.  CBS News, ABC Nightline and some of the local SD affiliates.  On one of them, her image in silhouette was poorly done to the point where her facial features were visible.  Her attorney also released an e-mail he sent to the Bills where he cc'd her e-mail account which was not redacted.  So, she has basially been outed by the actions of her attorney.

Shortly after this, a YouTube video called "Slutty Halloween" and created by some organization called "BagNation" which was posted last year, came into prominence because it supposedly had the accuser in it saying she was only 18 and bragging that she had a body count of 20.  There were two clips in it where she puts her age at 18 and, oddly, was the only person in the video to even mention their age.  She was in the fairy costume and getting friendly with some unknown, skinny, college aged male person unrelated to the football team, near as I can tell.  It is likely that this video was shot a party earlier the same night as it seemed not to have any of the SDSU football team in it.

Since all this happened, she and her attorney seem to have gone media silent which certainly is interesting and leads to much speculation.  There has not been much new to the story since.

Why do people make the assumption him getting hit while running is somehow worse than a QB like Burrow who gets sacked in the pocket frequently?  I believe the injury data shows the majority of QB injuries come from hits in the pocket rather than on scrambles or runs. Allen was the 2nd least sacked QB last year next to Brady for QB's that played in 15+ games.

The funny thing is the only time Josh has had a significant injury in his career where he missed games, it came from in the pocket.

At Wyoming he shattered his collar bone taking on a defender.  It may have been a fluke but it's on my mind.  At least when running he can see the threats and adjust accordingly.  So many potential  injuries for QBs in an and out of the pocket.  Smash a hand on a helmet = broken thumb, pass rusher tripped and crashes into legs = torn knee ligaments, shot to the chest = cracked sternum, taken to the ground with full body weight of defender = cracked ribs (Tua) or hip injury (Fitz.)  Bad things happen in the pocket more often, I think.

Fitz's last play in the NFL

    Hip displaysia for Fitz

  5. If criminal charges are ever filed or there is a civil trial, this thread will have new life.  We love our court room dramas even if cameras are not present.  I'd say the statutory rape charge is a no go with the accuser being recorded claiming to be 18 and bragging about her 'body count" at 20.  Her attorney seemed to have much less to say after it came out.  I wonder if there may be a grand jury that is reviewing the evidence.  That would explain the appearance of DA inaction.

Replay looks like he got the first down. I think the spot was a little short. But interesting they measured it and it seemed like the ball was a bit short and they still have them the first down. That's weird.

    Parallax error.

    hot take inbound:

Daboll was a good to very good OC who occasionally had lapses in judgement where he got either too cute or too predictable with playcalling.  Dorsey, if he can avoid that, will be as good if not better

It's normal for an offense to go through a period of lackluster play during the course of a season.  The OC needs to know the right buttons to push to get the O back on track.  The Bills had such periods during every season Daboll was in charge of it here.  Dorsey may be better at it as you posted.  I agree.  He may have better concepts of how to distribute the ball to players in space.  He may unlock the YAC.

  8. OBJ does not set foot on an NFL practice field, let alone play a game, without a multiyear deal with some big guaranteed money, imo.  He can't risk another such injury just to bank a handful of game checks and some even smaller post season ones at the tail end of the 2022 season which is the type of deal many are suggesting.  I can't see him going for that, he'd be better off waiting until the offseason, proving he's healthy and then getting one last big deal with a commensurate bonus and starting fresh in 2023.

I'm not the guru either, but here's my take.

I think all QBs are fooled. I think the real question is how often does a QB get fooled, relative to other QBs, right? I think both IQ and experience matters. I think one's willingness to study, review tape and continue learning, matters, right? Josh has a strong IQ, I don't think there is any denying that. It sure seems to me that Josh is spending a lot of time learning, getting smarter and perfecting his skillset. What Josh lacks, compared to some of the QBs is obviously experience. I can't argue that Josh is anywhere near where Brady and Rogers are, contrasting their experience.

Comparing Josh's experience factor to his class of QBs, I don't think Josh is deficient. Rather, I'd argue that he is exceeding the experience level.

I think there is a panic under pressure component too.  Josh thrives on the chaos and is inclined to extend a play but some QBs don't want to take the hits or battle to extend the play, thus they are more likely to get rid of the ball based on a faulty pre snap read.

I mean maybe he's pointing to the Jacksonville game? But the team as a whole didn't perform well that day.

I'd say all QBs get fooled now and then. But I wouldn't say "routinely" for Josh, not based on watching him his entire career and seeing the steady improvements in his game. Also, go watch that half hour chat he had with Chris Simms last week. Lot of great insight on how the dude thinks and sees things out there. Sounds way too informed and intelligent to be a guy who's "routinely" tricked by disguised coverages.

Also, I heard Steven Ruiz talking about Josh's mama, therefore the dude is a bum.

That int Josh threw to "the other Josh Allen" was definitely what comes to my mind.   But, Josh was under pressure and moving right so I do not think he could see that TOJA had dropped into coverage or where he was (moving to the defensive left.)  Difference being that I think Josh was playing it based on what he was able to see post snap not based on any pre snap read.

Let me put this another way.  In the video, the girl had obviously not been gang raped yet.  I think we can agree on that one.  So if she claimed that immediately after arriving at the party she had sex with Araiza and then he immediately took her inside to be raped, this video disproves that allegation.  If she said she was at the party for awhile, then it proves nothing WRT the gang rape, but proves she told people she was 18.

As for witnesses, I never heard any witnesses say they saw him in the room, just that he was the guy she was having sex with outside.  Armstrong says he has witnesses who say he wasn't in the room.  So yeah, it will come down to who has the better/more credible witnesses.  But no charges being filed in over 10 months suggest her story doesn't have much support.

Might have been video taken earlier at a different party?  At some point she claimed to have attended two parties prior to the one in question where she did some drinking.  The video seems to to be a compilation from different party scenes at different locations.

Just watch at 1:50 and 2:48.  There's no manipulation going on.

    That's her at :07 too.

Also odd that in both those brief clips she puts her age at 18 which would be a lie from what we know.  I don't think anyone else in the video mentions their age at all.  Tough to get the statutory rape charge filed with this video hanging out there. If there were charges filed, the sum total of all the video evidence would need to support them.  That may be why there haven't been charges filed yet.

Ummmm, Ray Lewis got a TV job. We are quite forgiving!

But from where we sit today, this looks like a challenge.

A week from now might look very different.

What the hell do I know?  🤷‍♂️

Jameis Winston, Kobe Bryant and Ben Roethlisberger managed to continue on quite well.  Maybe punters are not worthy of collective public forgetfulness.

Just booked a flight to DC. Gonna be at Maryland Saturday!

I just looked up where College Park, MD is.  I had no clue it was so much closer to Washington than Baltimore.  If you are there long enough you should check out an Orioles game as they are suddenly fun to watch.  Adley Rutschman and Gunnar Henderson are two rookies who have recently held the title of "the #1 Prospect" in all of baseball and the team is 9 games over .500.  Enjoy the Bulls game!  I will be watching on Spectrum 382.  Anxious to see how Cole Snyder looks.

    This part:

As he enters his sixth season as head coach of the team, McDermott has to be feeling that pressure. He has to be wondering whether someone higher in the organization than him will wonder whether McDermott has taken the franchise as far as he can, if the can’t take them to the Super Bowl this year.

Agree.  He and Beane have already been extended.  Terry and Kim have had their struggles getting their organizational parts right, but they haven't suffered long when things weren't right and moved to pull the plug even with big money still committed, ex. Rex and Ralph Krueger.  When they do get it right, they move to lock it in.  PFT seems to not recognize this.  They think they have it right.

I’m a musician and grew up in the era of ‘classic rock’, but can we please just move on? Enough already with these 70-something relic rock acts and this worn out 70’s music. If I never hear Hotel California or More Than a Feeling again I’m fine with it.

I am a pretty smart guy but I am music dumb.  I know what I like and I have high standards but can't explain why.  There is this guy, Rick Beato, who has a Youtube channel that features music of this era.  He is about our age and is from Fairport which means it's likely members here at TBD have some personal connection to him.  He dissects great music down to it's elemental parts in an attempt to demonstrate what makes it great.  I feel smarter after watching his material.  Here is an example:

    What makes this song great

Not much of what I hear today measures up.

I can really sympathise with Kim. Sad fact, my feed for the Bills is slightly behind for the televised games so, if I read something bad is going to happen on here, I quickly turn off.

If I didn’t see it, it didn’t happen.

If I’m watching a replay, and I know we’ve won, I’m not so fussed.

Lol.  I picture Wile E. Coyote holding up an umbrella as the boulder is falling directly above his head.  I totally understand.

Should have signed Steven Carlson TE was browns top sprcial teams player and blocking TE

I think it's odd that Steven could not get a camp invite after he was cleared to resume playing.  All I heard of was a June tryout with the Giants.  He might have to seek an XFL opportunity.

I think you're absolutely correct when it comes to big programs that send a lot of players to the NFL like Alabama

But how many players have been drafted from SDSU (open question, I genuinely have no clue)?

I could see where if a program has very few players drafted, when they have a guy who seems like a sure-fire pick he's a bit of a "unicorn" to them and the temptation would be to polish his horn

That may be an ill-chosen metaphor....

I looked it up.  Here's the link.  One of 4 in the last draft.
