Golisano unfairly gets a bad rap as a Sabres owner. He completely saved the franchise when no owner was on the horizon. Assisted by the salary cap, he was able to make them as financially sound as they ever were in the 'modern era'. when he bought the team, he was very clear that he wasnt going to be taking major losses on the team, and the goal was to be at the break even mark. He did cut a lot of peripheral costs, and would not get involved in front loading contracts/cap circumvention, etc. I dont hold that against him as he was up front from the beginning. If he managed the Bills like he did the Sabres, theoretically, he would be less frugal than RW as there is more elbow room to break even. I also think more investment in the Bills would bring much more profit.* As it is, they play it very safe and close to the vest to preserve as much profit as coming in as if its at the ceiling. *- not taking into account any payback/interest on a loan to finance the purchase. I think he learned his lesson from the Sabres and would likely hire qualified individual to run day to day operations. Not Larry Quinn or Russ Brandon. So in short, I think he would be a good owner.

The Bills have Released Punter Shawn Powell

Good call. The guy was hurting the team. Good luck to Powell though. Hopefully he can turn it around and have a career, -
The kicking game: Powell/Carpenter

Powell has been awful. -
same here. I buy many non-perishables, dog food, Christmas Shopping, electronics, you name it. It makes it very easy to read reviews and price shop.

The kicking game: Powell/Carpenter

Carpenter has been a dream -
this season was supposed to be transition. Games like the Jets game are depressing. Last night though, the young players all again looked impressive and injuries ended up doing them in. I am actually optimistic for the first time since Bledsoe got here. I think they will be a legit contender for the AFC East in 2014.

Would Rather play Cleveland twice a year
May Day 10 replied to Bufcomments's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
I agree I would rather see the Bills in a Great Lakes/Midwest/Rust Belt type division. I actually get more excited for Browns games than I do Dolphins, who really dont even feel like a Divisional game any more. AFC East Jets Giants New England Baltimore Washington Philadelphia Carolina London Central Bills Steelers Browns Bengals Colts Lions Packers Bears Vikings NFC South Atlanta Tampa Bay Tennessee New Orleans Miami Jacksonville Houston Dallas St Louis West 49ers Oakland Los Angeles Seattle San Diego Denver Arizona Kansas City -
Rate your most memorable Bills/Browns games.

1989 Playoffs Harmon drop MNF Captain Checkdown Lindell Missed Fieldgoal 1990 42-0 8-0 in a blizzard (just for the visual) 6-3 for being the worst game on record, including scab replacement players. -
I use Bookmaker. Just keep a modest amount and play low on many, many games, just trying to keep my bankroll so I dont need to re-up. Play parlays too to swing for the fences a bit. I have had the same bankroll for 2.5 seasons now, which is great and has provided great entertainment. Agreed on online poker. Goldmine waiting for the tax rolls. They say NYS could be early in adapting this.

It is completely worth it... way more worth it than Cable/Satellite at that price. Breaking Bad is awesome. Im on Season 3, I watch it slowly/savor it. I noticed they did have the 1st half of Season 5 up pretty quickly. They also have very good Netlix-Original programming.

I think they were going to go for the intentional safety and burn the final seconds on 4th down.

hate him as a player... but really don't like seeing injuries like this happen at this stage of a player's career. Hate to be a sap, but hoping for a full recovery. (Id be lying if I said there isnt a loud part of me happy the Pats are losing another important piece though...) Dont they have a Wilfork clone in training?

am sick of the alignments in MLB and NFL. Was sick of the NHL and glad to see a change, but I liked the owners' proposal that was shot down last year better. The NFL never likes to move around too much, but it gets stale IMO. I do think that the recent concussion settlement may result in more support among the owners for expansion (which is great IMO and may save the Bills in Buffalo). For hypothetical, let's say they expanded to 2 cities, that is 34 teams AFC East Jets Giants New England Baltimore Washington Philadelphia Carolina London Central Bills Steelers Browns Bengals Colts Lions Packers Bears Vikings NFC South Atlanta Tampa Bay Tennessee New Orleans Miami Jacksonville Houston Dallas St Louis West 49ers Oakland Los Angeles Seattle San Diego Denver Arizona Kansas City Done, and awesomeness. You would hear crying from Dallas... but rivalries these days are mainly built situationally. Treat each Division kind of like a Conference in NCAA. Play each team 1x and rotate the Home and Away every season.

Toronto writer: Buffalo (the City) sucks
May Day 10 replied to \GoBillsInDallas/'s topic in Off the Wall Archives
I really hate hearing crap like this in Toronto. I recall being up there when Gilmore was drafted and they had a low-blow column basically saying the man's next few years are ruined because he was drafted by Buffalo. Every once in awhile I see on a message board, things like "The Sabres and Bills only exist because of Canadians" pop up. The truth is, I love Canada, and love the fact that they come down here and spend money. We need it. We arent so good to not be able to admit that. I recently moved back (as have about 10 of my friends recently because there seems to be jobs now)... and had to wait 40 minutes on a Wednesday night to be seated for dinner. This is good to see. The city of Toronto is awesome too and it is crazy a growing city of that size and cultural diversity is an hour away. I also like the CFL. Likewise, Torontonians can take a break and come down to Buffalo for some affordable tax-"free" shopping, less traffic, good food, a Bills game, concerts, etc... Im not going to feel the need to take a dump on a City/Region because of a hockey fight conducted by millionaires. -
[closed]M.Williams, Dareus, McKelvin, Carrington
May Day 10 replied to Braedenstearns's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
Carrington sure looked like a torn ACL -
I agree it is frustrating. Most teams have been good, bottom of the barrel, good again, repeat numerous times, while the Bills just sit there and spin the tires. It stinks. We were sold on another rebuild, which is OK, I guess (normally it takes teams less than 2 years to get a competitive team)... but a performance like yesterday is really a shot in the gut and nothing good apparently can be taken. We will hear "secondary and secondary depth" all year and they will draft there, overcompensate, only to find three new holes elsewhere. Im in a miserable place this morning with the Bills. I do not want to see the season over before mid October. Hopefully the players and coaches learned something to take out of the game and show better signs moving forward.

I agree it will be 17-14. Maybe a bit sloppy. Bills' secondary is still ripe for the pickins though

Jacksonville crowd shot mid-game
May Day 10 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
im sure they would schedule a sweep through and also incorporate it with bye weeks. Such as: 4 straight home games Thursday vs. Cincinnati Monday @ New York @ San Diego @ Kansas City @ Indianapolis @ Tennessee bye week -

unfortunately there is plenty of room for relocation and to rip the hearts out of millions Buffalo to Toronto Jacksonville to London Oakland and/or St. Louis to Los Angeles -
Jacksonville crowd shot mid-game
May Day 10 replied to PromoTheRobot's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
this gets mentioned each time a thread like this emerges. It is a completely different era now. There is a greater demand for tickets and the live experience across the board. Also, you now have the ability to purchase and resell tickets on the internet. They also caught on and teams offer playoff ticket sales well ahead of time instead of scrambling the week between Week 17 and the Wild Card game. I have trouble believing the Bills would have any trouble selling out a home playoff game at this point. -
POLL: Top 3 Reasons for the Loss
May Day 10 replied to The Big Cat's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
3rd down, penalties, Spiller inneffective -
Nobody is getting fired anytime soon. If things hit the fan again, and this "rebuild" again sputters out, Brandon essentially cannot fire himself, and by then, Ralph will be, what 97? He isnt going to be much for sweeping changes. Basically, Brandon isnt going anywhere. If a future owner buys the team and remains in Buffalo, I really hope they cleanse the entire organization and build from the top down (assuming the organization hasnt taken off by then). I agree with the general "theme" of the OP... but any real anger or calls for change at this point are misguided and a waste of time. This organization has become more and more irrelevant with a direct correlation to Mr. Brandon's rise through the ranks. There is no doubt he is influencing football ops heavily (and I suspect it goes back to the late Donahoe days). You can see it by the way he addresses and comments on specific roster issues through the media, interviews and such. I also didnt really buy "all in" on the whole Wilson stepping-aside, Brandon becoming the real decision make, Nix sauntering off, making his understudy the GM as huge sweeping changes. I also do not think Brandon's marketing and off the field management is particularly good. I have lived in 5 other NFL markets, and those teams completely wipe the Bills off the map with TV coverage (such as full 1 hour shows from the stadium on Network local affiliates following the 6:30 News), print ads and awesome freebie inserts in newspapers, and much, much better/exciting commercial campaigns. The Bills sell tickets, but let's face it. That is due to the party and the low prices. I also believe they needed to/should have moved camp to CNY before the Jets or Giants got a chance to. But basically its all a waste of time. We wait until either: A. This team/staff grows together and turns into a contender B. New ownership C. The team moves. edit: and I am also in the camp that sees a lot of good signs from yesterday, and am hopeful they carry over/through.

Jeff Tuel ... was a steal!
May Day 10 replied to SPILLERmadeUmiss's topic in The Stadium Wall Archives
He was playing against 3rd stringers and cuts... but that is what he was supposed to be, and he looked like tom brady compared to them. That establishes he could be a cut above that crowd. He alreafy looks 10x better than thigpen
