  1. Yeah that's kind of what I planned on doing too.
  2. You're good at putting words in other people's mouths, aren't you?
  3. ...Nate and Travis are still on our roster along with whoever we picked at #55? In other words, we didn't do sh--?
  4. What he said, but in legal publishing (i.e. I edit the books on his shelves).
  5. Look, I don't think anyone believes TB would do a straight-up Henry-for-Barber deal. But try this on for size: We trade Clements to Washington for the #9 pick. We then take that pick and trade down for a package of picks, starting in the late first round and probably also including a second and a third or a fourth. Then we take one of those picks, maybe even our original #55, and trade it with Henry to TB for Barber. Washington gets a topflight corner/return man for its #9 pick. TB gets a starting running back and a second-round pick for Barber. We get an outstanding cornerback, a first-round pick, a second-round pick to replace the one we lost, and an extra pick in either the third or fourth round. And we lose (1) a guy who is walking next year no matter what (don't kid yourselves), and (2) a guy who is a lot more valuable to someone else than he is to us. Flame away, but I'm just thinking out loud.
  6. Maybe we can get him and Ryan Tucker too.
  7. Is he related to Bill S. Preston?
  8. Not that I'm arguing this point, and not that I think that what TKO thinks matters a whit to what management does, but does anyone know how popular Nate is with his teammates?
  9. Yes, Gomez went to the ECHL out of the goodness of his own heart.
  10. I think part of the reason we're getting all worked up is that we don't want to wait until late Saturday night to watch the Bills make their first pick and we know we're going to be sitting in front of the idiot box all day anyway just in case something happens. I suppose there's a chance that after Saturday we will be sitting there with our #55 pick and Henry and Clements still on the roster. If that happens I will trust it is because TD did not feel he could get adequate value for a Pro Bowl CB and a RB who has been to the Pro Bowl (note the subtle distinction). It's not going to be the end of the world if we come out of the draft with Clements and Henry still on our roster, but most of us just want to see something happen. I don't think it's so far-fetched that we could end up with a low first, three seconds and two thirds. From everything I'm hearing, while the top half of the first round isn't anything to write home about, the next half plus rounds 2 and 3 are as deep as they have ever been. If we could have a half-dozen of those 75 or so picks, we'd be in great shape. You're telling me you wouldn't want Spencer, Jones, Nugent and three more first-day picks over Clements, Henry, and two draft picks?
  11. All I meant was that if we don't unload Henry before the season, he'll be a Buffalo Bill this year and will be relegated to spot duty behind McGahee assuming (knock knock) Willis stays healthy. Then, after not having gotten anything out of him in 2005, we'll lose him for nothing next offseason. I agree there is no point in Travis sitting out this season. By the same token I think there is little point in TD's not trading him now, so long as he can get a decent draft pick or player out of the deal.
  12. Well, he can sit in uniform, can't he?
  13. Of course, if we don't trade Travis and he sits all this year, we lose him next year anyway for nothing.
  14. Oh great then we could have two Ivy Leaguers on our offensive line.
  15. Now why would your friend apologize for speaking the truth?
  16. Col Forbin, meet Dan Snyder.
  17. I'd be Reuben Sylvania.
  18. Hey Todd, is that the Griswolds' RV parked in your neighbor's backyard?
  19. Don't feel bad. There are people who still insist that we "gave up" a first-round pick to get Losman last year.
  20. I have been to road games in Washington, the Meadowlands (Jets), Dallas and Kansas City (that one was preseason when I just happened to be in KC at the time). Had a blast each time running into displaced WNYers -- except in KC, where my wife and I were the only Bills fans in the place. Favorite game experience was in Washington, 1999. We pounded them and Flutie probably had the game of his life. By the fourth quarter the only people left in the stadium were Bills fans and they were everywhere. The Redskins cheerleaders weren't bad to look at either.
  21. Worst trade: Lamonica. Hands down. Best trade: Sending OJ Simpson to San Francisco in 1978. The Juice was washed up at the time, but we managed to get SF's 1979 first-rounder for him. That turned out to be the #1 pick in the whole draft, which we used to select OSU's Tom Cousineau -- who promptly bolted for the CFL. But when he returned in 1983, we sent his rights to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for their first-rounder... which we used to select Jim Kelly. So the deal was basically a washed-up HOF running back for a young future HOF quarterback. Not a bad deal if you don't mind waiting eight years for the payoff (Kelly didn't come to Buffalo until 1986).
  22. It was the Orioles who pissed US off, not the other way around! Angelos destroyed that franchise.
  23. And the irony there would be that a team called the Americans is awarded a trophy that is supposed to go to the best team in Canada.
  24. No MNFs. Again. Two warm-weather teams coming up in September (Houston and Atlanta). What is it with the New England night game?
  25. Although I have to admit it does make sense. Losman played at Tulane, so what better way for the league to hype his first start than to have him open in his old college town?
