Lewis probably went into conniptions when Palmer came out and said he wouldn't play. So then he got some Bengal employee to put out the word that Palmer had miraculously improved to the point where he might play.
That's my take.
Except for last year, when we beat the Bungles in overtime, this was the only other time we faced Jon Kitna:
Fortunately, none of the Bills mentioned in the above snippet are still with the team.
I wonder if he didn't first hurt it earlier in that Seattle game, when he called for a fair catch and some tard on the Seahawks flattened him while trying to catch the ball himself. He was down for awhile on that play.
Check out this stat:
In the first two games of 2003 and the last seven games of this season, we're averaging 32.1 ppg. (And that's with the sixer we put up in New England.)
In the 20 games in between, we averaged 12.6 ppg.
I think it had more to do with the fact that MM's cutting of Shaw showed that he wouldn't put up with stupid mistakes even if a veteran was making them. A few people probably realized right there that they'd better shape up.
Yeah, me too. Especially since the WR-playing-CB Patriots D spent all week preparing for Carson Palmer while this ranked-third-in-the-NFL Bills D will have focused on Kitna from the get-go.
The fantasy football idiots at USA Today touted both Kitna and Houshmandzadeh as pickups for this week. Said Kitna "handled" the Patriots D and "should do the same with the Bills."
I don't like picking games, so I won't. But I hope this article is on the bulletin board in the defense's meeting room this week.
How about Travares Tillman?
Before this year, he was the LAST Bills safety to intercept a pass in a regular season game. That's how long a drought we had there.
