  1. And now freaking Tennessee goes ahead of Baltimore.
  2. Just give it to 'em, you mean?
  3. Now one shin equals two feet?
  4. That HAS to be reversed.
  5. I don't believe what I just saw. Colts are about to make it 31-27 them. Three minutes ago they were down 27-10.
  6. I think that is the money quote. What's he EVER won as a head coach? Is his record even close to .500? edit: 71-89 in ten-plus years as a head coach. Three winning seasons. .444 winning percentage. Made the playoffs twice.
  7. Maybe San Diego is just not that good.
  8. Some people just aren't happy unless they're not happy.
  9. Oh, *that's* why he's still around.
  10. Love this thread. There is nothing like enjoying a Bills game with your dad. This thread reminds me how glad I am that I still get to do it, and I'm even gladder that my son (he's 5) has really gotten into it this year. After the Raiders game, my parents came over for dinner and my son ran to the door yelling "Grampa! Grampa! The Bills won, Grampa!" My dad got a huge smile on his face. One more generation in the books. This thread also makes me think of Russert. Not a week goes by these days that I don't think of him and how happy he must be right now. And wonder if he's giving us a little help here and there. I don't think God cares who wins a football game, but I know Timmy still does.
  11. I hereby propose a New Rule whereby if your team blew donkey pipe while wearing the throwbacks the first time around all those years ago, we should not have to see them again. The Jets and Steelers are exhibits 1 and 1A.
  12. Hell in ten years there will still be people arguing that a certain other quarterback could have done the same thing if he'd just been given the chance.
  13. All good points but I will not consider Cris Carter a true HOFer until Andre is in. The fact he made it first still rankles me.
  14. Must JP be discussed in every got damn thread?
  15. Funny thing is, if Greer had fallen down or run out of bounds at the 1, and the Bills' O had punched it in from there, it *would* have been a 4th quarter comeback for Edwards. That should be proof enough that not all "4th quarter comebacks" are created equal...
  16. I believe the criteria for "4th quarter comebacks" where QBs are concerned are that you must have the ball with your team behind at some point in the 4th quarter. Since Greer's INT happened on the first play of the 4th quarter and put us ahead for good, it is not a "4th quarter comeback" for Edwards. It is, however, a 4th quarter comeback for the TEAM.
  17. Edit: Carter's teams were 4-10 in the postseason, his teams lost four playoff games AT HOME, and his teams NEVER won a playoff game against a team with more than 10 wins. So I guess Cris Carter knows what he's talking about when he says a team should "wait until they play someone good and they'll come back to the middle of the pack" or whatever it was he spewed. Cris Carter is a joke.
  18. And Cris Carter took his teams to how many Super Bowls in his career?
  19. Who is this clown?
  20. This game reminds me of that game back in the very late '80s or early '90s when Steve Grogan came off the bench to replace Tony Eason in New England. The Bills knew Grogan (who'd had neck surgery, I believe) was one hit away from spending his retirement in a wheelchair, so whenever they got close to him they basically gently picked him up and laid him on the ground. I am really not sure our guys are going to be inclined to be so kind to Trent "The Human Concussion" Green. And if Dan Patrick and Peter King are picking against the Bills, my reaction is: how much can I bet on this game and how soon?
  21. Holy crap this is so cool. Thanks! I'm 39 so this team -- the '80-'81 Chuck Knox squad -- is the first one I really lived and died with. So great to see them again. But I especially liked the tape of the 1974 MNF comeback against the Raiders... led in the waning minutes by a young Joe Ferguson, who was in his second season if I remember right. Who says lightning doesn't strike in the same place twice?
  22. I still don't understand why they threw a low-percentage pass on 3rd and 10 with 2:30 left. Odds were they weren't getting a first down, so why not run the ball and take it down to the two-minute warning (since we were going to keep our last timeout)? As it was, the clock stopped, they punted, and we got the ball with a timeout PLUS the two-minute warning.
  23. And he's taller, too. What?
  24. Some of us still think the old AFL rivalries are worth keeping. I'm not old enough to remember the AFL itself, but I am old enough to remember when we and the other former AFL teams were still considered interlopers on the snobby NFL scene. I know Cleveland and Pittsburgh are geographically closer (and socioeconomically more similar) to us, but I still love the feeling of an old-time original AFL matchup. That's why I didn't really care when the Colts left the AFC East. I get why people younger than me (I'm 39) don't understand this at all. But tough sh--.
  25. I think we all underestimated his ability to throw the deep ball because He Who Shall Not Be Named can get more air under his passes than just about anyone who's ever played here. (Unfortunately for HWSNBN, he would also get that kind of air under his five-yard swing passes.) I've seen nothing to suggest that Edwards can't make every single throw required of an NFL quarterback.
