  1. I guess they have written off this year, the guy flat sucks. I am praying this is nothing but pre draft posturing to get teams to think they dont' want a QB they are really after.

Otherwise this team is playing for the 1st overall pick next year.

You get dumber with every post I swear...

  2. I dont think the video is too degrading to the Bills at all. In fact, its complimentary. Mortenson said good things about Nix and Gailey too.

Yeah, totally agree...I dont think any of these posters watched the video...what exactly did he do or say that was so bad or wrong? Everyone just has sand in their azz because its Mort. Seriously, calm down, he said nothing really bad or that wasnt really true.

  3. What do you want? Raven's GM Ozzie Newsome announces...

Of course it is speculation based on various sources etc. etc. etc.

Here's a Baltimore Sun blurb mentioning his availability for a #2.

I could find you 50 similar blurbs. Will that change your mind? Probably not because your mind is already made up.

My point is, no one really knows if he is available for a 2nd, yet posters here are piling on the FO for not acquiring him yet. If he is out there for a 2nd right now, then why havent the other tackle needy teams made the move? If he can be had for a second I am sure the FO is fully aware of that, probably has already inquired, and is exploring all kinds of options right now. We dont need 20 threads on how we havent gone after Gaither yet when no one knows if we have or not.

The side factor here is that the FO was trying to use our 2nd to get McNabb which they all ignore in bashing our FO in all these threads about not getting this guy yet. Of course no one seems to be taking that into consideration.

Now the FO is considering getting Campbell too according to reports, so who knows what kind of compensation they are considering there.

  4. From what I have found online, he is the starting LT for Ravens and a Restricted FA with a 1st and 3rd round tender. The Ravens are already preparing to lose the guy and most believe that he can be had for a 2nd round pick. The guy is also 24 years old.

So, a proven starter at LT for a 2nd round pick? Why are we not all over this? Right now, the majority of people want a LT with our 1st pick, why not get a proven guy with our second over a rookie in the first. Then, we could trade down, up, whatever we want. Hell, we could get Eric Berry, have a kick ass secondary and get Cam Thomas in the 3rd.

Does anyone know if the Bills have even looked at this guy? What am I missing?

Can someone please show me where the Ravens will take a 2nd for him? There has not been a single report ever stating the Ravens want a 2nd round pick, it has been just pure speculation and assumptions that we can get him for a 2nd. It will currently take a 1st and a 3rd, and teams who put that level of restriction usually do so because they want to find a way to keep him.

Secondly, how does anyone know that the Bills havent called about him already and were told it would take at least a first or the full 1st and a 3rd?

I love how if we dont hear about it in the news, which we wont hear about 85% of what teams discuss (especially no name players like him in terms of fame) it is just assumed no one has inquired. I mean can anyone honestly think that the Bills (or other teams needing a OT) wouldnt have at least inquired about him if he truly is currently available for a 2nd and was that good?

Also, if he can be so easily had for a 2nd right now why havent the other teams in need of OT traded for him yet so they can save their top 10 pick in the draft for another position? KC, Sea, Oak, TB, etc could all use OT...not to mention all the other teams around the league...Its either becuase he isnt available for a 2nd at this time or teams dont think he is worth that high of a pick given the contract he will command too.

  5. Dude, his team just traded him to a division rival. Get the feeling that even THEY don't think all that much of him?

Yet fans here like you still think he is this great qb. He was great in 2004, and he was a very good qb before that year. But since then he has been an above average qb that continues to get adoration as if he were still a top five guy. He's not. He's overrated and the Bills are much better for him not wanting to come here.

I would much rather have the unknown rookie qb in Clausen, then the known close to a has been and who never won the big one even when he was good in McNabb.

One, you just ignored the facts that he has had NO talent to work with...none...yet made 5 NFC Championships and one SB.

You also ignorantly ignore the business facts of the situation...they WILL 100% lose either Kolb or McNabb after 2010 for ZERO compensation as both contracts are up and both want to start. They had to decide now to invest in Kolb who they believe to be the heir apparent or lose him and keep McNabb another few years.

You also ignore, that Reid diligently wanted to keep McNabb but the FO decided to make a decision for youth. Reid is the guy who has to go out and win games and he still feels that McNabb is his guy. But the FO also believes in Kolb and feels they have to make a move for the future now or risk losing Kolb next year for good.

You also completely disregard why the Eagles traded him to the Skins, which was in appreciation of McNabb to give him what he wants. They had plenty of trading partners with plenty to offer, but they allowed him to go to the Skins because they wanted to accomodate him as much as they could.

But you keep your simpleton point of view that it wasnt about losing one of them next season for no compensation...

  6. That is total unsubstantiated BS based on nothing but your h*rd-on for Brohm. Way to just make sh*t up. LOL!!!

The fact that they were willing to give up picks when they have such a thin roster is a complete indictment of all of their QB's. Add to that, they were willing to give him an extension!? I don't think Buddy and Co. were going to wait for Brohm or the other two scrubs to blossom.

    Nice try though.

lol...I started the statement with IMO...in case you are slow or lived in a cave for the last 10 years, that means In My Opinnion...no where did I state that it was anything other than what my own opinnion is...man you are dense sometimes

  7. brohm couldn't break the roster in gb who you know have seen some good qbs in their day can we stop saying he needs to develop and get better so he can be be our future starter, he is just as expendable as Trent and fitz who are both solid backups that's it

LOL...um, ever heard of Aaron Rodgers? Did you really just post this?

  8. A QB can make an offensive line look better than it is. The same can not be said in reverse. The Bills have not had an opportunity like this since Kelly was drafted in the mid 80s. Unless the guy has killed someone or beaten women and children then the Bills should draft Clausen and send the Redskins a gift basket for making the trade for the overrated McNabb.

Huh? Overrated? Lets see, he has only produced at a very high level despite throwing to scrubs, literally scrubs, for almost his entire career. The only legitimate WR he had was TO for a little over a season...oh, he also managed to take his team to the SB that year WITHOUT TO in the entire playoffs and throwing to clowns all post season. Jackson was the only other WR he had and he only got to play with him the last 2 seasons in which one was his rookie year and then this past year he had injury issues.

McNabb is totally underrated...there is only 1 QB who has had equally bad talent at WR who had been able to accomplish more than him and thats Brady who won 3 SB's with mostly scrub WR's, but even his scrubs were still better than anything McNabb has ever had to work with.

Most importantly, is the Eagles were never carried by the D only like say Balt when they won the SB. Every year the Eagles have been putting points up despite the hacks starting at WR. McNabb has had scrubs like Stallworth, Thrash, Brown, FedEx, Curtis, etc. who most wouldnt have even been a #2 on just about every other team but all were at some point his #1 WR going INTO the season.

  9. Nix and Co will also be kicking themselves as they watch him carry the skins to the post season.

This franchise still has no balls. The upcoming season is going to be another waste.

The biggest news (so far) out of two bills drive this offseason: They took the TV's out of the weight room! YAWN....

LMAO at posts all over this board like these...do you have any comprehension of what happened or are you just stomping your feet over this?

I wanted McNabb, badly actually, but the FO did this right.

    1. McNabb has every reason in the world to prefer Was to us right now. They have a solid D, talent at WR, TE, RB, and two of the most respected offensive coaches in the NFL...not to mention the #4 pick in the draft still, a owner who will spend to get him weapons, and most importantly he gets to play the Eagles twice a year at least.

    2. Reid loves McNabb and fought to keep him and insisted along with the Eagles to try and make a deal that both works for them and McNabb becuase of that.

    3. The Skins pick is 5 spaces higher than ours and they traded a 3rd with it too. So we would have at least had to give them two 2nds, or swap first and still give up our 2nd to get him, whcih still may not have been enough to sway them to trade him to us instead of a place he preferred to go.

So lets recap, the FO made a very good offer that doesnt require us to give up the farm, but the Skins offer was better and it was also a preferred destination for McNabb. The Skins wanted a deal that both was good for them and for McNabb, and that was the Skins and thats the bottom line.

Our FO did this right and has done a lot of good things this offseason. Not to mention, it also increases the likely hood Claussen is there at #9, so if the staff likes Claussen this trade makes it more likely we will have a shot at him in the draft (although I personally am not that high on the kid).

  10. Bulger may be the recent NFL starting QB about whom we really can't say: "Well, he can't be worse than Trent Edwards"

Um, I will say it...Bulger is better than Trent, even right now. Trent has never ever been good, not once, not even in college. His career high in TD's is 11...come on now.

Bulger is no savior, but he is better than Edwards...

That being said, I think we need to focus on developing Brohm still who is the only QB on this roster with any significant upside at this point. Bulger isnt going to get us over the hump, although I think we win more games with him than Trent or Ftiz. So, lets focus on developing Brohm, getting him some experience so we know if we need to go out and draft a QB round 1 next year or acquire one via trade or FA to be our starter.

There is no QB currently available now that McNabb has been traded that makes us a contender next year, so this is the year we need to find out what we have in Brohm, Fitz and Trent with the new staff and offense. Hopefully, one of them can step up and be a good starter for us, if not, we get our QB next year.

  11. I seem to remember reading that all 3 Bills QB's are at the fieldhouse working out with Gailey. I mention this because I'm wondering if this played into trying to get McNabb. After seeing all three in drills, do Gailey and Nix figure they need help ASAP? I had hopes that Brohm could show something.

    PTR

Their interest has nothing to do with whether or not Brohm has any potential. We are talking about McNabb who has played at a very high level desptie having virtually no recieving weapons most of his career and is still in his prime. He makes us an instant contender while we groom Brohm who is still young and inexperienced.

There is more talent on this roster than posters like to give credit for, and a big upgrade to a top 10 QB like McNabb makes us dangerous. Brohm has lots of upside, but still is unproven and will need time to develop even if he wins the job this year.

IMO, it is Brohms potential that kept the FO from giving away the farm for McNabb which given the Skins deal would have to at least been two 2nd round picks, or our 2nd and a swap of firsts this year. They have a young guy with lots of upside, so they probably saw more value in using those picks to fill other holes and seeing what we have in our guys first rather than trade away so many high value picks.

  12. At the same time, the Skins' 2nd was higher than ours and they might have to give up a 3rd. That's would be a tough package for us to beat. Personally, I think the Eagles would have been smart to trade him out of the division but the Skins is probably a better offer than we could have given.

Lost in all of this are two things, one of which you just mentioned. For us to have been the BEST offer, we would have had to give our 2nd, plus another conditional 2nd next year, or do something like swap first round picks this year too. Nobody seems to even notice that the Skins pick is 5 spaces higher.

The Skins put a big offer on the table, the best offer, and one that we would have had to give up a pretty good bounty to beat.

Then the other point, which has been mentioned here and there, is that the Eagles wanted to do everything they could to make McNabb happy as well if possible. He clearly would prefer the Skins where he gets to play the Eagles twice a year. To top it off, McNabb gets to go to a team that will spend money to get him weapons, has one of the best offensive minded coaching staffs now with the Shannahans (with SB's to show for it), a load of offensive weapons at WR, TE, and RB, plus the #4 pick in the draft.

I am huge Bills fan, and even I cant blame him for preferring to be there. Not to mention, he doesnt care if he gets an extension or not, because if he doesnt then he gets to pick where he plays next year where he will still be good enough and young enough to get a great deal somewhere.

McNabb made the best choice for him, and I respect that. The Eagles made the best deal for them, and I respect that. More importantly, the Bills stepped up and made a legitimate offer without giving up the farm, and I really respect that. I see no fault by our FO on this one, nor do I think McNabb was wrong to want to go to the Skins who definitely give him a better position to be in at this moment in time.

  13. Honestly, Shefter is really blowing that trade into something that's bigger than it really is. I personally wouldn't call the McNabb trade a blockbuster trade, he's 35, on the downside and all for a 2nd and 3rd. That is big but not a Blockbuster.

McNabb is not 35, he just turned 33 a few months ago and is still at the top of his game going to a divisional rival with one of the best offensive coaching staffs in football...this is a pretty big deal, especially for Redskin fans and Eagles Fans.

Washington now becomes one of the favorites in the NFC instantly...The skins are loaded at RB, have a lot of talent at TE and WR, a good OL and a pretty good D...McNabb makes them very strong Super Bowl contenders much like Favre did for the Vikes last year except McNabb will be playing at high level for at least 3 to 5 more years. Oh, and did I forget to mention the Skins STILL have the 4th pick in the draft where they can add another Elite prospect to their roster and no longer have to look at a developmental player like say Claussen.

This is WAY more significant than you give credit for and McNabb is a WAY better QB than I think you believe he is...

  14. In my best AOL voice *GOODBYE.

Seriously though this article states what a lot have been saying on this board for quite a while- Lynch isn't going to garner a pick high enough to justify the trade. The Bills would be very lucky to get even that 4th simply because there has to be more then one team that would be interested. I say that if the Bills do find a dancing partner it'll be for a 5th and a conditional next year. One thing I do think is that given Lynch's history and current issue(s) that a conditional pick may be the best we can do. I like Lynch and I want him here but each time something happens-no matter how small it may be- he shows that he may not be the guy for us. Send him to Oakland he'll be happier out there(maybe we could just swap him for Bush-I like that idea, then we could have Brohm, Bush and Wood)<-----There's a joke there somewhere.

Michael Bush is not only the best RB in Oak, but he would be the best RB on this roster and is better than Lynch. McFadden gets PT only because of his contract, much like Al wants to stick with J. Russell, but Bush is better than McFadden and I would take him in a heartbeat. Not only does he have speed and power, but he can catch too. Freddie and Bush would be a lethal tandem...

Too bad this trade will never happen. Why would Al trade for a RB when the one he has is already better and doesnt have all the baggage? Then again, its Al Davis...so who knows.

  15. It was widely believed that Joe Haden was a very likely choice for Cle round 1, but now that they have acquired Sheldon Brown, that clearly isnt likely going to happen. So, who is the new likely pick instead of Haden?

My guess is that if Eric Berry isnt selected by KC (who I hope takes Berry instead of an OT) then he would surely be the pick. However, there is speculation that KC or Sea could take Berry, if they do, that would be great for us as that surely pushes at least one more tackle down the board as Cle isnt taking an OT.

The three most likely picks I think will be Berry, Claussen, and Spiller depending on whos available. I think Berry and Claussen will be gone, so Spiller seems to me the most likely. That definitely hurts our chances of trading down as I cant see anyone trading to our 9 spot to get anyone else other than one of those 3.

However, if all 3 of those guys go ahead of us, along with Suh, Bradford, Okung, and McCoy...then we shouldnt be looking to trade down as we will have a pretty good pick of the OT's as I think Raiders go Campbell because they love those workout warriors. So we can choose between Bulaga and Trent as to who the staff likes better.

    Thoughts?

  16. The Jets traded up for Revis. Can you think of any other instances where a team actually traded up to select a defensive back in round 1?

I am not saying it never happened mind you; I simply have no recollection of any other team doing something like this.

Yeah, but Berry is widely considered the 3rd or 4th best prospect in this draft, and a Jax and SF would love to grab him. I actually think Berry probably still goes top 8, but I could see a number of scenarios where he still falls to 9, and if he does, I think we will be awfully attractive at 9 for someone like SF, Jax, etc.

  17. 1) People believe that 3 OT's will be gone by then and they know we need the 4th one. After that 4th, there's a big drop off. If that trade happens and all 4 are gone, that blows: Raiders more than likely will take an OT anyway at #8...so if 3 are gone, a 4th will likely be taken at #8 regardless if the Raiders stand pat or trade.

    2) People believe that Clausen will drop that far and expect us to take him. I admit, there are worse things in the world, but that would kinda piss me off as I would like Clausen, but it's not the end of the world. This is plausible, however, no one really expects him to get by Washington anymore, so I doubt they would make this trade until literally the Raiders are on the clock.

    3) Tebow - I hope this is actually the case but I doubt it. If the Bills are thinking about taking him first, then please let someone swoop in and stop it. I dont think anyone thinks Tebow is going in the top 10, heck, most dont think he will be even in the first round. So I doubt they would trade to #8 to get Tebow.

Other than that, I don't know why the Bills wouldn't look into trading with this unnamed team. If the person wants Spiller or someone else that we don't care about, pull the trigger and make it happen. I wouldnt be so quick to say we dont care about Spiller. I bet you Spiller is near the top of our draft board based on who is expected to be there. So, I could see someone moving ahead of us for Spiller since he has been rocketing up many teams draft boards.

See my responses to each above...also, another possible side bonus if this happens is Berry. I think its possible he could fall to us at 9, especially if this trade happens. If he does, then Jax and SF a few spots behind us could be possible trade down destinations where we dont move too far back and still get a guy we want while picking up some value.

  18. LOL...wasnt this thread supposed to be for Nevergiveup to post updates? Well its already on page 4 yet he has only posted 3 times in it...its just getting filled with gibberish. Seems we have a bounty of threads to post most of this gibberish, so maybe we should leave this one for direct questions to NGU and his responses...

  19. From Rotoworld...

McNabb's agent, Fletcher Smith, told him, "he has no reason to believe a trade is imminent, and says there have been no conversations with the Eagles about which teams the quarterback would or would not prefer to be traded to."

So, according to his agent, McNabb has made no such demands about refusing to play anywhere, which if true, clearly means both Oak and the Bills are still in play.

  20. Donovan McNabb spoke to Andy Reid on Thursday to tell him of his preference to spend this year with Philadelphia, not Oakland or Buffalo.

    http://twitter.com/ADAM_SCHEFTER

This doesnt mean he wont, it says he would prefer to stay in Phi this year than be traded to either of those teams...of course he prefers that, he doesnt want to leave Phi (a SB contender) to play for either 2 teams not expected to be a contender (although McNabb makes us at least a serious threat for playoffs).

What do you expect McNabb to say? Please trade me from the team I love and want to stay with to go to Buffalo or Oakland. None of that means he would not come here and sign an extension if Phi agreed to a deal with us. More importantly, we wont trade for him unless he does agree to a deal with us.

But what McNabb is about to find out is that he wont have much choice, and if he was smart, he would pray he comes here over Oakland.

  21. Will the Bills get to the super bowl with McNabb...

If not... then why waste the time and picks on him!

Do I think he is a top ten franchise QB...yes!

Do I think he will accomplish anything besides winning a few more games for the next two years...no!

At this point all the Bills need is a QB that can manage the game and not turn the ball over, they need to build a power running game like the Ravens and Jets currently have.

How many SB winners in the last 10 years won because of the power running game?
