  1. So if the Bills somehow sign Williams will they be re-signing McCargo? I think he would demand it.
  2. I don't think Johnson and Whitner are at all comparable. Whitner was an average player coming off a big contract probably looking for a raise. Johnson has outplayed his current deal and won't have any trouble getting a big raise somewhere.
  3. Well the Bills were going to talk to Stevie's agent at the combine, maybe they are close to a deal and they needed this restructuring to fit the contract into their cap this year. :notlikely:
  4. Maybe but the Bills haven't had a receiver with back to back 1000 yard receiving years since...ever. Which doesn't mean that there haven't been better receivers here but I'm also not acting like that's easily replaced. And how many of those 19 1000 yard receivers are UFAs this year? Correct me if I'm wrong, but I count 5 (Wallace, Welker, Colston, V.Jackson, Johnson). http://www.kffl.com/static/nfl/features/freeagents/fa.php?option=WR&y=2012 And of those 5 Johnson is the youngest at 25. Wallace is a RFA.
  5. I think you underestimate his worth on the open market. He has put up solid numbers the last few years -- 82 and 76 yards receiving the last two years, back to back 1000 yards receiving, and 17 TDs? For this team? He proved he can do more than compete with the best DBs in the game. Somebody will pay him. Probably a lot or at least more than the Bills would be willing to spend. And everything he's said about dropping the celebrations, getting rid of his online t-shirt sales, etc. has been to sell the idea that he will be a more mature player wherever he ends up.
  6. I just think they waited too long. At this point he knows he is going to get paid no matter where he goes. He is about to get his first big contract of his career and he'll have the ability to pick where he wants to play. As a 7th round pick and former practice squad player I think that's huge. He has had a chance to think about being able to play for another team (maybe a team that has made the playoffs during his adult life). I get that there haven't been a ton of players being re-signed by their teams recently but I just feel like the time to re-sign Johnson passed a long time ago. I like Johnson but I don't think he's any more loyal than any other professional athlete and I think if he gets the opportunity to go he'll take it without looking back and would be justified in doing it.
  7. Maybe. If they wanted to pay him that much wouldn't they have already worked out a deal? If they tag him it will be to trade him. Either way I doubt he plays another game for the Bills. Maybe I'm wrong.
  8. Stevie is as good as gone. If it isn't San Francisco it will be another team. It won't be Buffalo.
  9. Agreed. They could have signed him anytime during the year. If I were him I'd probably already be thinking about seeing where else I can go.
  10. My problem with the DBs was that so often they were right on a WR but when the ball came they never turned around to look for it and were either beaten or took a PI penalty. It wasn't just one or two guys either.
  11. I thought during the season the DB coach should be fired. I hope there is a change there.
  12. I don't think Lynch was a bust. He'll be an NFL running back for a while. His days here were numbered after the hit and run.
  13. I bought a blue Stevie Johnson t-shirt this week and wore it watching the game on TV. I usually wear my I (heart) Buffalo Football T-shirt. It's probably all my fault.
  14. If the Bills paid to be a contender every year they could raise ticket prices, raise the prices for the suites and luxury boxes and people would buy them. They would also sell a lot more merchandise. They probably wouldn't even have to spend up to the salary cap. Not every team that makes the playoffs spends to the salary cap. They could also sell the naming rights to the stadium but they could do that now and don't. Maybe all of that wouldn't add up $20 million in profit but a lot of owners would be ok with less profit (not even losing money -- just less profit) in order to win a championship.
  15. Right because it's either one or the other. There's no way they could spend more money without losing money?
  16. Kelsay has been a captain before, right? He probably will be again.
  17. People sure do B word a lot about something they don't listen to!
  18. Eerie! Ironically, though, Young's jersey number is going to be 83.
  19. Right because that has anything to do with Trent Edwards. Re-read it. I never said Walsh himself was overrated.
  20. The Bill Walsh thing is so overrated. He loved Joey Harrington coming out of college too. I know he hit on Montana but what great QBs came out of Stanford during his time there?
  21. They probably don't care much about the AFC East blog since the relevant updates would be on ESPN New York/Boston
  22. So parents should have to explain why some moron is drunkenly trying to fight a security guard because he has been drinking since 9 am and his team is losing? "Well Johhhy, he obviously makes bad life decisions."
