Other then Green Bay is there a franchise that is the fabric of the city like the Bills are to Buffalo? I don't think so, I hate the thought of that ever happening. I no longer live in Buffalo, but when I go back I still see the pride the city has for the Bills. And it would be devastating if they left, especially if they went to Toronto. It's disgusting that nothing matters anymore other then money. In Toronto the Bills would just be a shiny new toy, not part of the city's culture. How would Toronto fans feel if someone threatened to take their beloved Maple Leafs? ( I know it will never happen )
People would go to games in another city. They would still buy concessions. Corporations would buy luxury boxes. People would watch on TV. Because it's the NFL. That's what they care about. There'd be little protest around the league if the Bills left.

To be fair, the "hammered" part is assumed but not documented at this point.
He was wearing a BillsMafia sweatshirt so it's at least fairly obvious that his judgement is severely impaired. Maybe his lawyer can argue that he's not guilty by reason of mental defect.

And Fred Jackson stops aging.

The refs would have called a penalty on the rain yesterday if they could.

Phil Simms is a moron who probably only watched it once.

He was GM like 4 years ago and then he hired football guys to do it. Whatever you think of those people he has hired he has separated himself from making "football" decisions. He's still the President though. What NFL team President wouldn't be involved in hiring a new coach? I'm sure Russ Brandon wouldn't be anyone here's first choice if they were building a team from the ground up, but the timing of this diatribe seems a little off. This coaching staff has had one game and they lost by 2 points. Was Russ Brandon calling plays today? You seem to be optimistic about Manuel after one game but against everybody that led to him being here. How do you reconcile that?
-
So Marrone might be decent, but the guy who hired him should be fired immediately for hiring Marrone who is unqualified for his position.
-
I don't blame him for the details of the actual loss- I question the fact that he was allowed to hire a coach who (hopefully with just growing pains) seriously mis-managed the game, and brought a college offensive coordinator along with him. It's amazing that people are fine with Brandon having his role. I questioned the hire when it was previously made, but the loss today deepened my concerns about the decisions he has made.
So do you have faith in Marrone or not?
-
I enjoyed the game. I still have faith in Marrone and the team, and like Manuel. All I'm saying is the hire likely was made because of personal connections and not, necessarily, as the best available candidate. Does that not concern you?
If he wasn't hired because he was the best available (would come to Buffalo) candidate or ONLY because he and Brandon both went to Syracuse then why do you you have any faith in him at all?

Yep, Tebow is so horrible that 3 NFL teams took a chance on him. He must suck so much. Let's berate him.
Three NFL teams also gave up on him. Nobody is berating him. It's the obvious reaction to the years of pushing the Tebow story on everybody who follows college and professional football. Is it fair to him? Maybe not, but he certainly benefitted from it when the all the news was positive. What goes up must come down.

Jim Ballard mixed with Daryl Lamonica with a pinch of James Harris.
-
Who needs kickers. They should have used the roster spot on Tebow, made him the starter and just always went for it on 4th down or for the two point conversion.
-
Canada might be an opportunity for him to reinvent himself, but he'd have to be willing to switch positions and he'd have to find a coach who was willing to make him a personal project in the middle of the season and give up a roster spot for him. At this point his options are extremely limited. If another team doesn't pick him up in the first few weeks of the season either due to desperation or injuries he'll probably be out of football until next training camp at the earliest. Even the Arena League just finished their season.

'We are so lucky to have a team name not transferable to another city. Makes the team much tougher to move. I doubt Ralph was thinking about that in 59.
Ask the Browns how that worked in 95. I'm sure there are lots of people out there who would have no trouble creating a new identity for this team if they ever moved.

This came up in 1990 at Rich too. Elway complained that it was too loud and the ref quieted the crowed. It didn't help him though.

We beat the Vikings in preseason w/ no AP
No Mario Williams, Kiko Alonso either.

Mariucci on NFL Network has already called it in favor of EJ.
Karl Rove is on Fox News wearing his Tuel jersey saying all the votes aren't in yet.

This conversation reminds me of Chris Kluwe's letter to the Hall of Fame committee on Deadspin.

Just to give you an idea of how crazy Tuel-mania (or this Tuelishness?) has become:
About 3 weeks ago, I purchased an autographed Jeff Tuel Upper Deck rookie card....for a whopping 4.99 + 2.50 for shipping...total: $7.49 I was the only bidder.
Today, on EBAY, the same card (or ones just like it) have bids going up to $43.00 (22 bids) and rising! Another for $41.00 (7 bids)
Both have 3 or 4 days left to bid...crazy! So, if this is a joke, not everyone, it appears, is in on it!

Well my post wasn't specifically about Toronto, but the CFL would survive with the same amount of relevance that it has now if they got a team. It's not like Canadians don't have access to the NFL product already. One team in one city won't kill what is already essentially a minor league.
