  1. I have no problem with the breast cancer awareness month and the pink stuff. (Although some do - see pinkwashing.)

I would like to see prostate cancer awareness get some play from the NFL with some of the powder blue stuff. MLB does that on Father's Day and it wouldn't hurt to help raise some awareness and funding for prostate cancer research. Prostate cancer is just as serious for men and breast cancer is for women, but way behind in research and funding.

    good post

  2. The biggest thing that hurts T.O., I think is that he was one bad teams the last time he was in the NFL. People last remember him in Buffalo and Cincinnati getting hurt. Whether it's fair or not his reputation took a huge hit just because of that. Obviously there are other factors, but I think that is a big part of why he hasn't gotten another chance.

  3. and yet buddy himself said recently that kelsay will start early downs and anderson/merriman will play later/pass downs

the idea that wanny will 'start' anderson, who is a liability in run defense, is ridikilis. anderson has never ever been an early down starter. why would you do that when you have a legit starting containment de on your roster?

That might be true, and Kelsay could very well end up starting opposite Williams this year, but it doesn't change the fact that the article is wrong about who was on the starting defense on day one.

  4. The article isn't even factually correct. Kelsay was not starting on the 1st day of camp. Mark Anderson was the one working with the 1st team defense according to Buffalobills.com.

Starting at right defensive end with the first unit was Mark Anderson. Chris Kelsay and Shawne Merriman are both expected to be part of what could be a daily rotation with the starting group.

  5. Not for nothing but in Bills history there are only 4 QBs who have thrown 20 or more TDs 2+ times.

    Jim Kelly - 7

    Joe Ferguson - 4

    Drew Bledsoe - 2

    Ryan Fitzpatrick - 2

There have only been 3 QBs to throw for 3k yards 2+ times

    Jim Kelly - 8

    Joe Ferguson - 2

    Ryan Fitzpatrick - 2

Fitzpatrick threw for the 3rd most yards in team history despite having no WRs and being broken the second half of the year and he trailed Kelly's best season by only 12 yards.

I know stats are irrelevant but lets make sure we put his accomplishments into some sort of historical context for the team.

If you want historical context, then how about the fact that passing stats are up all over the league and the game has changed a lot since Kelly retired. I'm not knocking Fitzpatrick. I'm just saying it's really hard to compare stats from different eras.

  6. This whole "sanctioning" by the NCAA still makes me sick. The NCAA makes sure students don't commit academic fraud and makes sure that there is not cheating or payouts to players. That's it. They overstepped their rights. They punished players that had nothing to do with this creating more victims. They spitefully stripped wins away from Paterno. Then force them to pay $60 million for what? Isn't that what the court system is for? There is going to be close to $200mm in lawsuits. Then removing scholarships for 10 years? That's a joke.

Three of their top recruits stayed did not decommit; only one has (last I saw). Brent Musburger was very well spoken about this on Mike and Mike. I ended up turning it, but the only thing he missed was that football management and the school administration failed. Those people need to be punished for their cover up, for their mistakes, for their faults but that is it. All of those people are no longer with the program.

Also, he said he was ok with USC's punishment. I was not. Reggie Bush should have been stripped of all records and NCAA recognition. If the NCAA took a more proactive approach to their work things would be a lot different, but they are not and they will always be a joke. Putting up posters in locker rooms is their biggest job.

To think this is just a "culture" problem at Penn State then it is a mistake. From schools like Bowling Green to the Ohio State University athletic programs rule the school - usually football taking the crown. Other schools, USC, Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, Oregon, Texas and so many more there is the same "culture." Look at the OTW thread about a guy who won't even wear a tOSU tie at a friends funeral because he likes UM. It is the fault of the public who idolize college athletics over academics. It makes me sick that the NCAA did a knee jerk - public reaction punishment.

    edit: added later

watching ESPN it seems like other football teams are pretty much contacting Penn State players trying to recruit them away from PSU. how is that right?

They put their football program above the law and the welfare of children, so !@#$ their football program. At no point did anyone associated with the scandal do the right thing because they didn't want to affect recruiting. Seems pretty right to me.

  7. Just when I was beginning to have some faith in the Bill's competence they absolutely wasted two picks on 7th round questionable talent in the 3rd. What a HORRIBLE pick by the Bill's. Must have been past Nix's bedtime. There was so much talent available and they ruined a good draft. It is all downhill from here. SAD!! :censored:

I hope you're holding up considering these trying times.

  8. The Bills can't go the way the Packers have gone with selling shares of the team obviously but if they are renovating the stadium it would be cool if they could steal another of the Packers' ideas (I have no idea if other teams do this or not) and sell bricks and tiles for fans to dedicate to friends and family and personalize the stadium. The Packers charge $75 and up. It's not going to pay for the new stadium by itself but with so many displaced Buffalonians around the country it could be a good source of revenue for the team if they do it right.
