  1. I disagree completely. Anyone with Kelly on the team has not only a shot, but a good shot in my opinion. Look at who the trustees are and their relationship with Kelly.

As to why Kelly would, one guess is he asked Pegula and Pegula said no. Or Kelly thinks Pegula would not be a good owner for the Bills. Only guesses of course.

Another wildcard is Golisano. He could hookup with them as well which would give this group more than enough bank to compete with Pegula.

    The permutations are endless :)

Regardless, this group would keep the Bills in Buffalo as well so all is still well.

Jim Kelly has endorsed pretty much every QB the Bills have had since he left. I don't trust his judgement whatsoever.

  2. According to a source Kryk reported in his most recent article that Toronto's plan was to relocate as soon as possible as recently as June.

    http://blogs.canoe.ca/krykslants/nfl/toronto-group-bidding-on-bills-rate-chances-as-slim-they-can-match-pegula-source-says/

Bon Jovi’s background investors are Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment chairman Larry Tanenbaum and the Rogers family that runs Canada’s largest telecom empire, both of Toronto.

Sun Media has reported that until some point in June, the group’s plan had been to relocate the team to Toronto at first opportunity.

    So there's that.

  3. Equally puzzled about the trusts' actions; if Pegula's bid is indeed that much higher, they should accept his bid and take the money and run -- he would be terrific choice and as Kirby points out, "checks all the boxes". I can't imagine the trust would prefer Trump, and I don't get the interest in Golisano, since he's stated since day one that he is a safety net for BUFFALO and not overly interested. Lastly, we all know the issues with JBJ. Let's just get this thing done, so we can move on already.

I have no idea, but I think It's possible they are accepting more bids just to make the process seem more legitimate. If the only real candidate going forward is Pegula it might make the whole thing look suspicious and put the trust into question. Adding at least one other bidder could make it more acceptable for Pegula to win.

Or maybe they just want to drive the price up.

  4. The Monday night Cowboys game sticks out to me. We started so well and choked at the end. When I realized that Jauron called timeout just before the snap I was so excited and didn't think the kicker could hit it again from that distance. I was wrong. That Pats Monday night game where Mckelvin fumbled was pretty bad too.

Yeah this. Both of those games ending the way they did on national TV felt like a punch in the stomach. Blowouts don't hurt nearly that much.

  5. You don't understand HIPAA and how they could get this story.

Asking questions does not violate HIPAA.

If someone in a position to violate HIPAA and does, how is that the journalists' problem, especially if he protects the source?

You all set low expectations for your journalists.

And if some journalist found out, determined that keeping it private makes some kind of moral sense (I can't imagine a situation where whatever is going on falls into this category but let's say it does), he could still report it as a "private medical issue" and discuss updates on possible return.

If you don't think this is odd, I'm surprised. The starting LT, one of the most important players on the team, is out and it's not explained. It's weird.

Players, staff, ball boys, friends. It's called being a reporter. It can't be that hard to find out. This isn't the formula for Coca Cola.

Who do you imagine this intrepid journalist would ask that would A) Know the reason for Glenn being out B) Willing to betray whatever kind of trust they would have to know that C) Possibly willing to lose their job as well. If it's something Marrone can't talk about why would a ballboy know? How many people do imagine are privy to this apparently extremely personal information? And again assuming they could get the information -- for what? To know what we already know? That he's going to be out for the preseason for whatever reason? How does knowing the specific ailment alter the situation in anyway other than maybe you feeling better about state of sports journalism?

  6. I'm saying that any journalist who can't get to the bottom of this story is not much of a journalist. That's what I'm saying.

They won't get Whaley and Marrone on record but this can't be that hard of a story to get to the bottom of. You pull aside two players, they tell you. You confirm with the assistant sub trainer. You report what the issue is as confirmed by players and other source. The end.

It's not like we're cracking open Deep Throat's identity here.

Assuming the reporter could get that kind of information it would would be extremely ****ty to report it. As you said it's not as if it's a national security issue. His right to privacy > your "right" to know.

  7. The players may have changed, the administration and even the owner may have changed, but just like all great storied franchises of the NFL, what defines a team is its community, it's fans. What does the current Green Bay have to do with the Lombardi Green Bay other than its fans and community. We may be in the biggest playoff deficit in the nfl right now, but we've been here before and we stared that adversity in the face, and defied logic, statistic and probability and rode our spirit to the Super Bowl.

Never forget that as awesome as Freddy, Kyle, and Wood may be, WE are the Buffalo Bills.

Represent Bills fans, and as always.....

    Go Bills

One could argue that there being a lot of talent on those teams might have helped a little too.

  8.

Anyone care that the article says they looked at those sites 18 months ago, and that now they're looking at WNY sites?

Would this or would this not be consistent with what Kirby and others have been saying?

It could also mean that they are going through the motions by showing interest in wny, knowing full well when they get the team they can basically do whatever they want with it.

  9. Eh... we've got 3 young guys who have not reached their ceiling yet. I'm hoping the odds are that 1 of them will pan out (no preference who). I will say this, the hall of fame game will probably settle the dispute over who is number 2 and I'm excited to watch. Anyone know if it is televised on cable? I don't wanna waste cash at the bar... but I will.

The hall of fame game being so early is typically the worst preseason game. I doubt it will settle anything other than "how many drinks will make this palatable." The vegas line right now is sitting at "a lot" but it's expected to go up as we get closer to game day.

  10. That's a $25K fine now, amiright? Bad things man. It was more fun to watch, but that play alone gives a lot of credence to the strict helmet to helmet rules of today's game.

I remember the AFC Championship game in 1994 when he pulled Montana down on his head well after the ball was gone and Montana didn't play again that game. I don't think he even got a penalty. Probably because nobody but the TV cameras saw what happened.
