  1. Hmm, let's have Mort line up against Stroud to see if he's overrated.
  2. We played exactly like we would have last year up to the fourth quarter. Then we did exactly what we needed to do. I agree that we should have blown them out, but we had several hard knocks (that idiotic INT call) and strokes of bad luck (fumbles) and we still managed to pull one away. The only troubling thing is what will happen when we play against a team better than the Raiders.
  3. Thank you for saying exactly what I was thinking.
  4. Trent might have been unimpressive for three quarters of the game, but he does seem to have an affinity for fourth quarter combacks. While I'd prefer to have a bit more consistent play, there's no denying that Trent knows how to finish games. Take into account that it's still his second season and I think we have a new long term QB.
  5. If he keeps doing the playcalling like he's done the last two weeks... hopefully until the day he dies. Longer if Ralph Wilson manages to sign his soul for a few years post-mortem.
  6. Of course I'd take Edwards if he proves himself to be a consistent good QB, even if he doesn't become the next superstar. Of course, if he does, then awesome for us. So far this season he's looked good. Even if he isn't racking up the touchdown passes his throws have been almost scarily accurate, with not a single interception so far this year. I'll take THAT over a the Peyton Manning we've seen of late.
  7. Yay, we have our first idiot troll of the week. It takes a certain level of idiocy to be delusional on someone else's board. You seem to be mighty impressed with beating the CHIEFS, a team that was 4-12 last year while we took on and beat two teams that went to the playoffs last year. Put that in your pipe and smoke it...along with the meth you need to be a Raiders fan.
  8. Loved that part the most, though 'sall good. Sounded vaguely like Confucius. Or maybe Sun Tzu. Perhaps DJ gave them all some assigned reading.
  9. I thought you were going to be talking about this one: link This one is pretty good too and I really think it captures the spirit of this team well.
  10. I think you're right. That was our first year with Bledsoe, wasn't it?
  11. I don't know, I certainly liked the way he and Evans have been working for far this season with the over the shoulder catches. I also think that the kind of offense that Schonert is running doesn't depend on deep bombs. Even if Trent's rate of accuracy is good for only 30 yards we have seen him throw with great precision within that range. I'd rather see a thirty yard pass completed 80% of the time than a 50 yarder completed half of the time.
  12. THANK YOU!!! I'll admit, it feels nice to be congratulated on a job well done, but that's what Jim Rome is for, isn't he? I'm just happy with the fact that we won a game against someone we weren't supposed to beat, have won against two 2007 playoff teams and now face three bad-average teams before our bye. Really, what else could we have asked for going into the season?
  13. That he did. What would we have done last year on that final scoring drive when Trent lobbed it to Evans? SF probably would have run it up the -ing middle.
  14. I've got to agree. Furthermore, we should be THANKING ESPN for keeping us under the radar for as long as possible. It's true that the two playoff teams that we beat so far had severe injuries, but that's what you do: take every opportunity given to you! Now we play three teams in a row in the bottom half of the league who have been only average at best so far. If we win all three before our bye ESPN will say that we have a soft schedule, but we'll still be 5-0. It's hard to argue with numbers like that.
  15. And which team is the playoff contender again? I'll eat crow on my earlier thoughts on TE. The man went ten for ten on his first ten and threw with amazing accuracy. That deep ball to Evans sure didn't look like it was missing any speed and it was right on the money.
  16. I think what he meant was "the win itself means nothing". Which it does if we get in a tiebreak but I digress. What's important is that we know how to close games, something we sucked at last year.
  17. 1. Trent Edwards: Made clutch throws for most of the day, especially on the winning drive. 2. Freddy Jackson: Are we sure we didn't sign him up as a tight end?
  18. I don't want to get too ahead of myself, but yeah, we just beat a team no one on the planet (except around Buffalo) expected us to win. That's what teams who go to the playoffs do.
  19. I really feel that with this team we can do something at any time, whether on defense, or offense or special teams. That's what makes them exciting to watch. Now excuse me I need to have a heart attack.
  20. Dude! Chill! Even if we had lost the season wouldn't have been over. And as they say "victory excuses all mistakes"
  21. Jesus, if they keep this up I'm going to have a heart attack. But since we won, it'll be the good kind.
  22. How do you win a football game? Score more points than the other guy.
  23. True 'nuff Dean. Granted, I WANT Trent Edwards to have a good season but if he's only average and we make it to the playoffs on the strength of the rest of the team I'd be far happier than if Edward's puts up great numbers but we go 7-9 again.
  24. I don't care if Trent Edwards never becomes the next Tom Brady or Payton Manning. I think I speak for everyone here when I say that the team winning is the most important thing, not one individual player's stats.
  25. I'm glad to have him, even if he doesn't end up starting. I know you don't want to break up and offensive line for chemistry purposes but if someone is really dragging and if the team would really benefit from giving a player a break, then all the better. Especially when you're exposed to soul sucking heat that you find in the south :quakes in agony:
