  1. I'm going to have to say B+, simply for scale. Minnesota and New England kind of wrecked the curve when Minny smokescreened people well enough that they actually made someone bite for the number #3 and THEN got the person they would have got at three, and NE (already a strong team) burned the later picks they don't need to shore up some of their few problems. We did good, taking a highly talented player in a position of need without reaching. They did spectacular.
  2. I'd be ok with that. Now that we don't have to worry about our first pick being an immediate playmaker, I'd be all for it if Glenn doesn't fall enough.
  3. I do wonder if Gilmore might be crazy introverted. People have been going crazy that he didn't smile when picked, but after listening to an interview with him this morning I'm not so sure. He spoke really softly and seemed at a loss for words when asked about his reaction to the Bills but eased up when talking about the SEC. I thought he might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but that's belied by graduating high school early and being on the honor roll. With what one of the Gamecock fans said on here about a small cracked smile being as emotive as he's ever seen, it made me think "Hey, that's exactly what *I* do" If that's the case it's no big deal. Just an observation.
  4. This. The one thing a really good D-line *can't* help with are really quicks throws to receivers. When we're playing pass heavy teams (like the Pats) you'll get burned. The D-line will help a great deal on long drops and runs up the middle, and from the sound of it Gilmore has practice hitting RB's too.
  5. Ction Listened to him on WGR this morning, and he seemed really quiet and reserved. I think this accounts for what looked like a lack of reaction. As for his play, i think he's a lock to be our nickel corner. He apparently is great in zone coverage. I think he's going to take some time before he is a starting 1 or 2 CB but since we were in the nickel half of the time last season I think we are going to see a lot of him.
  6. I would take best OT available, and I agree with the "Cash in some of those later picks for another second rounder" mentality. We are a team which thrives on the spread offense, and I feel more comfortable with getting a WR off of waivers or free agency than I would a tackle.
  7. I want to give the man a shot, but the fact that he hasn't played a down in two years of the NFL is somewhat troubling. Now, last season he left because he needed heart surgery. That really isn't a good indicator of how he gets injured. At the same time, what happens if his heart has problems again? I would like to have someone else in to compete for the #2 slot.
  8. I would agree! I was shocked that each of them made it through. People were saying that Martin at #41 would never happen. It doesn't seem quite as far fetched now, and I'm a whole lot more comfortable trading for second round picks than I am first.
  9. I'm a little shaky on our LB situation...but yeah, I think that Williams and Gilmore will be the successors of McGee and Florence. With that pair, plus the front four of Williams^2, Dareus, Anderson and Merriman I think we have fixed a lot of our biggest problems.
  10. Happy with the pick. After Kuch, BPA which happened to be in a position of need. Did anyone else see how fast we got our pick in once Carolina made their pick? I think Buddy is a happy man.
  11. I'll admit, the man did not look thrilled. But the pick makes sense. McGee and Florence are losing their step. McKelvin is looking like a dud. Our D-line has been revitalized. Our O-line could use improvement but is competent. I'm happy to have him.
  12. Screw all the doubters! This is a good pick (likely BPA) in a position of need. Welcome Gilmore! May you help our defense not be a sieve.
  13. Seriously, I think that our offense was pretty quality until injuries hit. I think our defense has gotten a huge upgrade this offseason!
  14. Was on my top three list. We needed someone to help McGee, McKelvin and Florence. I'm happy with the call!
  15. I will say that after looking at some of the Brown's journalists, they have talked about trading down. If the Vikes take Claiborne, it is still cheaper for us.
  16. Well, considering I'm the one who started the thread... Yeah, I was kind of vague so I'm not going to be a dick about it, and I think there is room enough for both
  17. I'm also a bit mystified by the amount of support for Barron. Not that i think he's a bad player. He would be a safe choice, but at a position which is already pretty secure. Now, the the chatter about Kalil dropping to six (which isnt nearly a big of a trade up situation), I would expand my original 3 with a disclaimer: getting him is feasible, but not realistic. It would take the Vikings passing on the conventional wisdom, the browns and bucs going with their expected picks and the rams being willing to trade. Feasible, but I wouldnt say realistic.
  18. I would be for it at that price...but there are two pretty big "ifs" there. One, if the Vikings are actually going to pass over him and two, whether it would only cost our first and second picks. Maybe a little more of a price wouldn't be so bad, but I would be surprised if the asking price is higher.
  19. Personally...well, if these was one person in the draft top five that is considered both an elite player and a position of immediate need to fill it would be Kalil. While it is true that no one can know for sure whether a pick will succeed or flounder Kalil is pretty much the prototypical LT. After he is gone, I don't see anyone worth reaching past 10 for. With that said, do I think that if we don't pay an exorbitantly high price the pick will inevitably cost us do I think that our O-line will collapse? No. Quality people can be found in later rounds, but this provides some certainry.
  20. Ok, I'm likeing Floyd more and more. Would I like to see an elite CB or LT get drafted? Sure. But apart from Rieff, who wouldn't be a starter from the go I don't see many better players by pick ten. Considering that our line did decent even without Bell I can wait until round 2 to take a LT.
