  1. I think the point Sal is making is that no one is just handing Bishop the starting job day 1. He's going to need to win it from Rapp, Edwards, Hamlin and Lewis. Now, I think he beats one of the handily.
  2. The pick is slowly growing on me, especially with some of the vision of how I expect the offense to function going in. For a little while now I've been envisioning a TE first passing attack, supplemented by the run game. We have some great YAC guys in Shakir and Samuel. In fact, Shakir is scarily close to Diggs in height and weight, and the strength of both is their route running. Down the stretch Shakir was the more reliable target. The thing the team DIDN'T have was the 'Power Forward '. I can't preach "I don't care about track speed, I want game speed" with my dislike of Worthy and Legette and then poo poo someone with the fastest gauntlet split. I watch Coleman's returns and what I see isn't game breaking speed, it's vision and the ability to cut to hit a lane. I care about that more. Am I skeptical? Yes. Would I have preferred Odunze or BTJ? Hell yes. But that would have come at the cost of having no backup plan for a bunch of aging vets. I*like* Da'Quan and AJ and Douglas. They are unlikely to be on the team in 2 seasons. This is the time to get younger and build another window I can see a plan for the offense. I might not have gone the same choices, but I can see Brady moving to his own thing
  3. I'll tell you what, if Day 3 starts with word that the Bills have traded a bunch of 5ths and next year's 2nd (keeping the pick we got for Diggs) for Courtland Sutton I will feel a whole lot better
  4. I hear penicillin clears that right up
  5. Snark aside, 66 overall on the Draftek rankings. I trust Rapp to be a heat seeking missile if we have a center fielder
  6. I don't want to get ahead of myself but can you imagine Franklin at X, Coleman at Y, Shakir in the slot, Kincaid at TE able to be motioned to slot and Samuel in the backfield able to be motioned
  7. I'm happy Josh likes him It seems that actual scouts like the pick, just not draftniks. I cannot in good conscience say "Oh Troy Franklin plays faster than his 40 time, I care about game speed more than how a guy looks in shorts" and then automatically dismiss someone built like a tank when Shakir and Samuel are shifty YAC
  8. *deep breath* He's the last guy in the group I had for the top of the second. But if you are talking about purely complementary skills, it's hard to say that he isn't the power forward to the point and shooting guard of Samuel and Shakir I can see the logic. I don't AGREE with the logic, but if Mitchell has character concerns he has the highest ceiling to be a number 1.
  9. Do you have Franklin's? I have been hearing about how he's all vertical routes but I remember his tree being surprisingly versatile
  10. He might stay, he has absolutely been hearing trade offers
  11. Ahh yes, who can forget the late round value of Damar Hamlin, Cam Lewis, Duke Williams, Jonathan Meeks and Da,Norris Seacry. Safety is luxury pick right until the moment your CBs suddenly have zero help.
  12. I'm ready to be booed: Take Cooper DeJean at 33. Our safety group, while less important than our WRs, is in terrible shape. DeJean would almost for sure start immediately and in a pinch could be kicked back outside to replace Douglas in a year. I WANT WR more, but with the assets in play I am considerably more confident that Beane can move up to the top of the 2nd and get someone I would have been fine with us taking at 28 (Franklin, McConkey and AD Mitchell all qualify for me)
  13. One thing to consider as I mulled overnight as to why 33 instead of 32: Beane now has 17 hours between rounds. If he can go up 1-2 and get DeJean AND a WR with a pick or two I'd be over the moon
  14. I'll put it this way: if you told me going in tonight that the Bills got a 3rd and 5th rounder to go to pick 33, with their choice of Franklin, McConkey and Mitchell, all of whom I would have been fine with at 28, I'd say Beane is working the draft just fine
  15. At this point, by the time the Bills get to pick there will be 5-6 WRs who all have *some* warts. Trade back. Get a third
