He's progressing along the path that I hoped for. I think he would be a bigger story were it not for Dane Jackson playing at a high level as CB1 and Benford turning out to be a hidden gem, but the fact that the worst thing I can say about him is that he got picked on in one game where the opponent scored 3 total points means that we are getting what you hope for out of a 1st round rookie. I suspect that he'll be CB2 at the start of 2023, but the fact that we are going to have him, Dane Jackson and Christian Benford on controlled rookie salaries and White and Johnson on very reasonable contracts should mean that we have CB locked up for a while. Now to deal with Safety.

I think it's a combination: Even last year he was showing signs of regression and locking onto DeVante Adams as his crutch. With a downgrade at receiver he no longer has that security blanket. I know I would not trade receiver rooms right now. But the play calling balance is just not there. If they run more maybe he can level out but there are no coaches reining him in.

They are both so darn good and are so unique in their talents that even the Brady vs Manning rivalry comparisons just doesn't seem right. Both can improvise when things don't go right. Both are hard to bring down. Both can make magic happen. The best I can boil it down to is that Mahommes constantly makes the difficult look easy while Allen can make the impossible happen.

Week 6: Bills at CHIEFS 10/16 4:25pm
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to YoloinOhio's topic in The Stadium Wall
I saw something floating around on facebook that Tre White is practicing again, but would be targeting a return for the Packers game. -
Let's be honest, at this point Tua getting smacked on the forehead with a ping pong ball might concuss him again.

Philadelphia Eagles Schedule is a Joke
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Coach55's topic in The Stadium Wall
I'll be honest, I like the Eagles and Eagles fans in general. I have never had a bad experience with Eagles fans, and most have generally been fine for the Bills. I enjoy bonding over a shared dislike of the Cowboys and Patriots. So I'll be honest: they are getting too confident. Their roster looks a lot like our 2016/2017 team: loaded at all positions other than QB, and with a QB who can do just enough. Like Tyrod, Hurts is getting the most out of his run talents and is hitting some nice deep throws. Eventually they will play a team that has a defense that will clamp down and force them to death by papercut style offense. (I suspect this Sunday) But yeah, they have a light schedule. It's not their doing, and I expect them to be a playoff team. The NFC is such a joke right now that they might even win. But Superbowl? Not unless the Bills, Chiefs, Ravens and Titans all beat themselves up so horribly in the playoffs that no one can field a complete roster. -

Christian McCaffrey rumors
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Steel City Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
I don't know if anyone answered this, but I looked ahead a few pages and didn't see anything. Here's from how I understand it: when Carolina paid the signing, restructure and workout bonuses, those all kicked in. The signing and restructure become prorated. In short, if they move on from him, they eat that money. They are the ones on the hook for it, which is why they want a high draft pick to counteract having to pay for a player who is no longer there. With Carolina paying the signing bonus, all that is left on the books in unguaranteed salary. Maybe he is willing to take it in a lump sum for another signing bonus. But this will undoubtedly play into Carolina's asking price. But I heard about it in my High Level Meetings!?! -
Christian McCaffrey rumors
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Steel City Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
Look, Barkley is probably the better RB but their situations are very different. Barkley has a high salary number in the last year of his deal. CMC has the majority of his cap hit this year in bonuses already paid and would have negligible cap hit, while giving the Bills two more years of control. -
Christian McCaffrey rumors
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Steel City Mafia's topic in The Stadium Wall
Look, this isn't a Big Name I Want kind of thing. I want him. Singletary is servicable. And that's the nicest thing I will say about our current RB group. Maybe that's all we need when you have an MVP quarterback. But CMC has the talent level like Shady who can make the most even with an ok O-line. We only need maybe 10-15 handoffs a game, let's make them quality ones. Next year is a problem cap-wise, but we weren't going to pay Singletary any real money and Moss is a liability. Who else do we have? I trust Beane to be able to work salary cap magic if he really wants to get this done. -
Can he bring CMC with him?

The Bills won yesterday because.... (karma reasons only)

My phone sacrificed itself for that win. -
Wow. I was expecting them to make a move in the offseason, but let's be honest: the Panthers should not be this bad.

I'm going to join in the "this isn't a hot take" crowd. At this point, I've seen all I need to out of Crowder. In four games he was a cap and roster spot drain. While I like Mckenzie, I think we have seen his peak as a receiver. I don't want to diminish what he brings, because using him in motion does a whole lot of things to held diagnose coverage but I don't think he's ever going to be a third down machine like Beasley was. Shakir, while making some early rookie mistakes, has thrived in the last two weeks and has made the most of his time. At this point I think he has more than earned a spot as the starting slot receiver, and McKenzie can be used where we know he is solid.

My wonderful wife scheduled us out an hour and a half into the boonies with needing to leave at kickoff. My phone breaks at 3:30 meaning that I watched none of it and did not know the final until I got home. Does anyone know when they are going to rebroadcast?

I mean, that has the capacity to make police faint that the rumor of it being in a five block radius.

Steelers @ Bills Game thread - First half
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Simon's topic in The Stadium Wall
He's going to have rookie moments but I have to say that without a doubt he's been the member of our draft class who has gotten up to speed quickest who still projects high. (Almost forgot about Benford) I'm not down on Elam but he is definitely still a project. -

There we go. That's the score I was expecting. Let's not forget the leads the Ravens have blown this year and give Allen some MVP ammunition. -

If we play like this every time we wear them and have so far (Rams, Titans) I want us to wear them every week -

10/9/22 Gameday Steelers at Bills Pregame Thread
WhitewalkerInPhilly replied to Chandler#81's topic in The Stadium Wall
Really hoping that this is a Shakir breakout game. I don't love all the injuries but our front 7 is still solid, Elam, Dane and Taron are playing at high level, their run game isn't working and Pickett is extremely raw. I still think we shut down their O.
