  1. You are right, I am so dumb. There is no way that being quicker or having more nimble feet wouldnt allow one to say avoid something one saw come in a better fashion. There is no way that you or I (two people much less athletic than any NFL field player) could possibly be more injury prone than say a Takeo Spikes - because athleticsm has nothign to do with it after all. I guess it is no coincidence that the best athletes are in the best shape, and the ones in best shape are injured less. There is no way a RB with great balance would avoid being put in awkward situation more so than a back with worse balence, or maybe a more elusive back could avoid more direct hits from opponents? There is no way to say - prevent Eric Woods injury - because he was just unlucky, yet maybe if the rest of our line could say "block" there is potential that maybe NO ONE WOULD HAVE ROLLED ON HIS LEG BECAUSE SAID PLAYER WAS BLOCKED/NOT ROLLING ON THE GROUND AND ONTO HIS LEG. I dont recal who let that big monster of a man tackle Fitz and break Woods leg, but there is no way in hell that a better athlete may - just may - have been able to block him, because injuries are jsut so freak there is no way to prevent it. There is furthermore no posssible way that a QB who can avoid the rush with movement in the pocket, hit is hot reads, and generally avoid getting hit (you know, the things that make a QB a good QB) would help keep him off the injured list. I bet its just a stroke of luck that Brett Favre and the Manning Brothers never miss a game - maybe they have that mutation Wolverine does? Man, none of those situations have ever happened in football and havent hurt our team at all this last pitiful decade. Injuries are as random as raindrops and absolutely none of it should ever fall on the players shoulders EVER!!!!!!!!!!! I am so dumb.
  2. We should add Brian Ballinger I am serious.
  3. The best athletes are athletic enough to avoid injuries more so than others. We have terrible athletes (by NFL standards)
  4. I was not intending to rip on Penn St. I was referring to the fact that Maybin only "dominated" vrs Coastal Carolina, Temple, Syracuse, and Indiana. He did have two sacks against a decent Wisconsin team which Penn st beat 48-7.... still far from impressive. As for Penn state beating LSU. Yea, the worst LSU team in Les Miles tenure will still beat Penn State.
  5. Lawrence Taylor was 22 - 14 months and 2 days older than Maybin to be exact. Im sure those 14 montsh 2 days makes a HUGE difference................ As for the "3 years" crowd. How about this: Aaron Maybin, what a BUST - 12/22/2012 There, I post dated my post.....
  6. As a huge Texas follower, that is 100% false. There were never any concerns of that type, people compared him to Gholston because they were both physical freaks in the weight room. Orakpo however was also a freak on the field. Orakpos only concern were the two knee injuries he suffered in his career - which were somewhat minor and he played through them - but still concerns.
  7. I dont care who they were with/what they were doing before. There is not a way in hell they could be worse than what we have.
  8. at first I thought he was being his usually p*ssy self - then I saw a replay later...he really F'ed his ankle....
  9. Why? So he can be completely handle in pass protection by the other teams towel boy? Maybin sucks any way you cut it. We might as well put TO at DE they are teh same size and have the same skill set - and I bet TO is even quicker!
  10. Maybin was average at Penn St - sorry I am not impressed by running around 3rd and 4th tier college talent - but he was a BACK UP. BACK UP BACK UP BACK UP. When you cant start at Penn St you probably wont start in the NFL either. This season is exactly what I knew we were getting with Maybin. Expect the rest of his short career to be similiar.
  11. Willaims sucks terribly so no. Bradford maybe if we had a line - we dont so no McCoy if we were 3-13 but we arnt McClain plays with cement shoes - ie he does not have very quick feet and is not very explosive. He is tall and has a long stride which accounts for his good timed speed, but he plays much slower than that. I predict he will be this years Malegua and drop to the early second round. Id take him in the 2nd though as I think he could be a very solid 2 down SAM - which is the LB position we truly need help at.
  12. We will have to sign all of these guys to have a cahnce in 2010
  13. If thats true we need Quinn. I dont like Notre Dame and am not some homer. I have watched Quinn in the pros and he has it. If he were on a good team he would be dominant. Quinn ends the search at QB and if we can draft 4-5 OL and have a somewhat competent team next season. After that I think we have to wait till next draft for a QB. Mallet and Locker may be there and they could be better prospects by that time. Hopefully Andrew Luck declares as well - which would be perfect if my Xmas wish of Jim Harbaugh were to be granted.
  14. Tackles dont mean crap - evidenced by Kieth Ellison. I do like Poz though - not great but one of the better players on the team.
  15. The Buffalo Bills: The only NFL team the Raiders can poke fun at.
  16. When/How do we add Michael Bush?
  17. a 245 lb DT may.... but real DTs like Raji/Wilfork/ etc need about 3-4 weeks. Suh will be a top 10 DT/DE in the NFL by week 8 of next season. McCargo on the other hand is just two or three years away....
  18. I would credit Maybins lack of rookie year production to the fact that he just is not any good - was not any good in college- and simply too small and weak to be an NFL player. If anyone has a connection please PM me - I will fund the steroids and HGH purchase Maybin will need to be a backup in this league. If someone knows his address I will deliver it too.
  19. I Used to feel the same way. But now I dread it. All last week I wanted to sleep in on Sunday, get some stuff done I needed to do, watch the game on tv, then relax. But instead I was up at 7:30, stood in the cold with no excitement, slowly made my way to my somewhat ****ty seats, and can barely remember that boring blur of a game. Then I walked to my car, sat in traffic, and got back home at 6:00 with tons of things I still needed to get done. This team is more of a burden than anything else at this point. My next game in the Ralph will be a PLAYOFF GAME. Not a new coach, not a new GM, not new scouts, not new players - a playoff game. Thats the only thing that will get me in that stadium again (I will admit though that all of the aforementioned will be required to reach the playoffs)
  20. I dont count Dick or Perry
  21. At least 1 full round. Just because Todd McShay says someone is good doesnt mean he is - as evidenced by him thinking Maybin would be a great pass rusher, which is most certainly is not. Anyone worth a damn - Mayock for example - knew Maybin was a POS and a huge risk. Mayock had him rated as the 4th best 3-4 OLB. Clint Sintim and Connor Barwin went 45 and 46 - my guess is Maybin would have went after those two if the Bills had passed on him.
  22. What makes you say that? His terror of a game vrs 1-AA Costal Carolina? Face it, the guy was a BACK UP at Penn St and only saw the field because the full time starter was suspended, then went on to rack up stats vrs weak competition. He couldnt even shed a college blocker let alone a guy in the NFL. He never belonged in the first round let allone as high as 11. Yea MAYBE he COULD be good in 3 YEARS, but too bad its not 2012. Personally I dont see anything in his game to give us any kind of hope. He is a perfect microcosm for what is wrong with this horrid football team - if we can still call it that.
  23. Dude stop believing that Maybin is 250. He simply is not. Anyone who sits in the stands close enough to the field can see he is like 230 MAX. Watch them warm up, or stand on the side line - he is the same thickness and build as TO with a skinnier waste and scrawnier arms. So does that one extra inch add 25 pounds or is TO really 265? When he is next to Nic Harris - who is listed at 230 - he is clearly smaller. Hes still too small to play LB in the NFL. Now I cant weigh people with my eyes, but I can look at two people from ten yards away and tell you which one is smaller - and its Maybin.
  24. McShay had Maybin as the 9th overall prospect and the best pass rusher in the class - which is obviously not the case. He also didnt like Matt Ryan till Mike Mayock - a real scout - liked him. He also had Russel as the top QB. And yes many posters on this board know more about scouting college players to the NFL than McShay. Do you think just because he is on ESPN he is some kidn of football God? All the guy (and Kiper) do is read BLESTO-V reports and dumb them down as if they have a clue.
