  1. What is perplexing to me is that the success at the Bill's box office has not translated to a better product from this organization. If we were all shareholders, which in some respect we are, we would be trying to hold the Bills to a higher standard. Almost a whole generation (14 years) without a playoff win and the Bills continue to enjoy great ticket sales. But 9 years with no Bills playoffs has meant that some people who love football - continue to follow the NFL. Probably more so now because of fantasy football, but at the end of the season and the Bills are eliminated with their sub .500 record, do you turn off the TV and forget about football - or if not, which team do you try to follow?
  2. sounds like a lot of reasons to be frustrated with the Bills
  3. If OBD cared more about winning than selling tickets, Jauron would have been gone last year - so now because of a lousy showing in the pre-season and what appears to be some last-minute disarray, a couple changes have been made. What is the NE spread now that we have 3 rookies starting on the OL?!? Anybody with half a brain knows that the last thing Trent Edwards needs is more pounding into the turf. Hopefully, Fitz will be up to the task, but I would not be surprised to see both QBs on IR before the bye-week.
  4. It would be nice to know that Kelly has the inside track as owner, but that is not the case. The Bills will go to the highest bidder and it is yet to be seen if Kelly has the right number of deep-pocketed partners lined up (and now that Golisano has moved to Florida, it is probably more likely that he'll buy the Dolphins than the Bills).
  5. I guess my point is after reading the "pop-warner" comment that implies Jauron is keeping it simple is: whatever Jauron has tried has not worked. Going 0-6 in the division last year means you do not have a clue how to beat at least one team that you have faced twice a season for the previous two years. Why do other teams in the division improve and the Bills fall behind? There has to be a reason and hopefully we will not see the same sort of game day time and play-calling mismanagement that has been maddening the last three years. Again, whatever works - simple or the Mike Martz style (bible-sized play book) - as long as there is some improvement.
  6. simple might be the way to go, but these aren't the Jim Kelly era Bills. Also, if the Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS) approach was working, the Bills would surely have perfected those five plays by now...at least to the point were the starters should have found the end zone at least once during the last three pre-season games.
  7. okay, I am sure there is other similar posts, but I don't understand why the Bills have put themselves in this position. Dick Jauron has had his chance (3 strikes) - so I don't care if his way is simpler. Why - because his way has not worked for 3 years and now Turk comes out and says Jauron runs the team like pop-warner?!? So does that mean because we play pop-warner, we spent millions of dollars at WR that will never see the ball beyond a five yard check-down pass?!?
  8. It looks like Dick Jauron is dumbing down the offense and could it be that he alone is responsible for lack of production from the coaching/game management/play calling standpoint? Will Van Pelt be just another guy in the dumb and dumber story for the Buffalo Bills?
  9. Not only that, but more than half of the team's salary would be tied up at WR with a check-down QB. At least when JP was here, he had the arm to get the ball down the field. Look, Kelly Holcomb was better than TE - if all you want is someone to throw short passes.
  10. right, as long as we don't look like the UB Bulls could whale on us or a well coached high school team could beat us... yahoo!
  11. Jauron gets cut, but it is no surprise...
  12. For that to work, TE would probably be required to throw the ball more than 15 yards and if i was Brandon, I would have that as a clause in my contract....
  13. When I was a kid, my Grandfather used to tell me about going to the rock-pile and with his gleam in his eye and I knew it was special to him. Then, when I was a little older, I attended my first Bills game in 1977, so I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. To me, it is sad that it seems to be all about marketing now. I know that marketing and get every dollar you can has it's place, but do you really have to hire a marketing guy instead of a football guy for a GM? And why not make sure that the team stays in WNY? Haven't enough fans paid their dues? Come on. Listen to Jim Kelly. He seems to have it figured out. Hopefully the Bills stay in WNY, win the Superbowl, and your Mother listens to the game. It happened for the Red Sox - right?
  14. Good post and it is great to see varied opinions on things...it is what makes America great! Go Bills!
  15. Even if TO appears to be okay, the Bills should rest his toe. It is just not worth risking further injury.
  16. Historically, teams that have had a good camp and pre-season usually rest their starters after a series or two, but since the Bill's offense has been either really bad or not showing their hand, how long does the first team play? If the coaching staff has done their job and prepared the team, then the starters should probably not be put at risk of injury in some meaningless game and we can all forget about this forgettable pre-season.
  17. That is a good hope to have, but then there is the little matter of DJ's record against the Pats...and must be why the Bills are already 10 point underdogs in an early line. Also, if this is a decoy, how many starters are going to play Thursday and play terrible at home to keep up the act?
  18. This is like comparing Ryan Denney and Chris Kelsay...each player might be able to perform on occasion, but are they consistently good enough to get you into the playoffs? They answer so far has been "no".
  19. The Bills would never pay for Tebow...and will end up trading down with their high 1st rounder next year.
  20. the Bills must be saving their best stuff for the regular season...
  21. Trent Edwards has been hit more times than Pat LaFontaine and is probably suffering from concussion related problems - which is not going to get any better with the newb shuffle on the OL.
  22. The burning issue it seems, is why Dick is still here! He will fail (as always) against the Pats this year - and I hope he's fired before the bye week. Maybe a good coach will right the ship in preparation for next year.
  23. If the Bills get pounded by the Patriots in week one, we had better not hear how the team did not practice or game plan for the Pats, but if you look at DJ's record against them, is there really much of a chance to beat the Pats in their home opener?
  24. There is one reason why Russ Brandon is GM (head marketing guy) or whatever his is - he has filled the stadium. End of story. It will only be when the tickets are not selling (or RW's lease is up) that anything will change...
  25. Look, if Dick Jauron feels that his team is prepared to face the regular season opponents, it should not matter what defense the other team is running - right? It is this simple: good coaches prepare their team to be in the best possible position to win and that is Jauron's responsibility. I mean, that is what good coaches are suppose to do - right? There is only one problem: Dick Jauron has only had one winning season in his pathetic head coaching career when the Bears went 13-3 in 2001. He has 57 wins in 133 games or a .429 winning percentage and is not a good coach. He is a below average coach who should have been canned last year and will be fired this year after we all suffer through another year of below average everything. The fans deserve better than what we are getting...
