  1. Whitner did not seem to be at 100% last year...but trade him for a third round pick? Wonder where Ngata was on the Bill's draft board?
  2. The Bills can't have enough good (hopefully great) WRs and it will be interesting to see how many red zone targets emerge this year. TO, Hardy and Nelson should present come height challenges and could open things up for Reed/Evans or the run game for that matter - IF the OL and Edwards can do their job (but that could be a big IF).
  3. funny how a poll of 80,000 sports fans across the nation is somehow meaningless when it happens that the Bills are near the bottom of some rankings. Maybe Bobby April will assume head coaching duties if the Bills falter in 2009.
  4. If anyone has been to Miami for a Bills game, it seems like there is almost as many Bills fans as Fins fans that attend games. But then there were a ton of Miami fans in Toronto last year when the Bills lost 16-3...for one of our "home" games (wonder how many Jets fans there will be this year at Rogers?)
  5. thanks...it seems likely something along those lines might happen in three years - unless the Bills somehow commit to staying in the area...like maybe the best thing that could happen is that the team improves, attracting interest from some buyers and RW decides to sell the Bills on the condition that the team stays in WNY hopefully, a win-win for everyone...
  6. have always supported the Bills...my Grandpa used to tell me stories about the games at the Rockpile...he and my Dad and now my kids - hoping to see the playoffs again
  7. that could be why some people think of the Bills as America's underdog or the team that is stuck in the mud...but it could be worse. 7-9 is tiresome, but it is better than 4-12 or something like that...although a playoff appearance in my kids lifetime would be nice.
  8. So what does that make a coach who has a nine year record of 57 wins in 133 games and only made the playoffs one time? just asking... because that would seem to be just a little below average which is okay, if that is what you are happy with. 9. It will be great to see the Bills back in the playoffs and since it has been about ten years since that has happened, there are many younger WNY fans that have not experienced that yet. When I was a kid, I attended my first season ticket game in 1978. So I have seen the good and the bad and the problem that I have with DJ is there does not seem to be the sense of urgency that you might like to see for a team that has the goal of making the playoffs. Maybe that will change this year - at least let's hope so. All the troll accusers and Bills marketing kool-aid drinkers/apologists can say what they want, but not being able to win one game in the AFC East or formulate a sucessful game plan - or make game day changes to that plan while managing the clock is not going to get you back into the playoffs. A little more killer attitude instead of playing not to lose might be nice to see for a change of pace. You can choose to read on not read what is posted, just like you can be content with 7-9 year after year or voice your concerns. Some people are happy with the status quo and that is great for those folks. For other fans, ending the season over .500 and having a chance to gain a spot in the playoffs after ten years should not be too much to wish for.
  10. 2009 could be a make or break year for Jauron, Edwards and maybe the Bills… Yes, it has been well documented that another 7-9 season would mean the end for DJ. Trent Edwards, entering his third year, presumably has had the training wheels removed and should be ready to roll. Failure to make the playoffs this year will likely mean a coaching transition that results in a probable year or two of rebuilding with new starters being selected by the new coach. New coaches have a history of cleaning house and like to put “their own guys” on the team. As time ticks on, where does that leave fans interested in seeing their beloved Bills in the playoffs? Maybe more importantly in three years, is the question of whether the Bills remain in WNY? The Bills have only three years remaining on their current lease and could terminate at any time before that. The problem for Bills fans is that there is no clear transition of ownership when RW departs and built in 1973, Ralph Wilson Stadium is a dinosaur NFL venue. Any new owner would likely be interested in a sweet deal from taxpayers for a new stadium. Given the state of the economy and the circus that the state government has become, this could be the worst time for Bills fans to try and keep their team in Buffalo. Let’s hope that 2009 is the year to return to the playoffs and for DJ and the Bills, that means winning in the AFC East – something that this coaching staff was not able to do once last year. Let's hope that every 2009 game is played like a playoff birth depends on it.
  11. The simple fact of the matter is: No playoffs in 09 - means no more Dick Jauron
  12. Sure, Snyder is a good example of spending money, but maybe in the wrong places? The Redskins really haven not had a good QB and have been hurt by that. You can look at the Cowboys and even though Romo can be good, he has been inconsistent. IMO - great coaching - along with a good QB and good defense seems to be the right combination for the playoffs.
  13. Last in coaching in the NFL as surveyed by more than 80,000 fans...how pathetic is that?!? It looks like the Cowboys are right there at the bottom too - with a former Bills coach... 113.Dallas Cowboys 114.Detroit Pistons 115.Buffalo Bills 116.Arizona Diamondbacks 117.Colorado Avalanche 118.Edmonton Oilers 119.Minnesota Timberwolves 120.Philadelphia 76ers 121.Sacramento Kings 122.Los Angeles Clippers http://espn.go.com/sportsnation/teamrankings/_/category/cch
  14. Does anyone really think RW has done everything that could be done to secure a playoff birth and possible run?!? First and foremost it appears that the priority is to take care of tickets sales for what the area market can produce. Why else would RW hire a marketing guy instead of a football guy at GM? Has RW recently gone out and hired a coach with a proven track record in the NFL? Sure, we are all grateful that the Bills play in Orchard Park and the fans have done their part and supported the Bills through thick and thin (mostly thin as of late) - but can anyone say the same for OBD when it comes to football decisions?
  15. Right, then he will go on season-ending injured reserve just like Angelo Crowell. Boss Bailey Stats
  16. I've heard a couple of people say lately that this will be the last camp at Fisher if the Bills move out of western NY.
  17. Yes, it is a great camp experience (much better than Fredonia), but while parking at East Rochester High school is the closest, sometimes there are delays because of long lines and not enough parking. If you are traveling from Virgina, it is probably not a day trip, but if you are coming from Buffalo, it might be smart to allow enough time to park and shuttle because last year folks were turned away when the East Rochester High school lot filled up - which caused delays - as you were instructed to travel to another lot south of town.
  18. Thanks for the clarification on that. Hopefully the information on that URL will be updated as camp is right around the corner.
  19. Just read how DJ wants to make the most of his second chance...didn't his second chance come two years ago? It was noted that there has been a problem with the lack of continuity at head coach, which is one of the reasons RW elected to not make a change this year, but with the offense being singled out as the area in need of help, how much continuity is there with the OL? RB is another concern, but the bottom line is: there are always personnel changes and a good coaching staff can put their players in a position to win. How many star players do you need? NE has Brady and Moss, Miami doesn't have many superstars and the same with the Jets. That is why coaching and game management, planning and adjustments are so important - all of which we have not seen from DJ.
  20. Maybe still offer the free admission, but designate groups of tickets for certain parking lots so that folks from out of town know which is the better parking lot in order to avoid delays. It was my experience that East Rochester High School had many delays last year. Look to see if the Bills have updated information
  21. All of DJ players love him because they can count on not making the playoffs every year and can plan vacations earlier than any of the good teams.
  22. Fairchild might have been hamstrung, but come on. It's the NFL and there should be no reason to keep the play book to one page. Even doing that, this team does not execute on offense. Sure sounds like coaching to me or the personnel department for drafting players who can't be coached.
  23. Whatever DJ has been doing will get you a 7-9 season. If you are okay with that, then fine. Some people are just greedy and might actually like to see another playoff game in western NY before they or RW dies. NE owns DJ. DJ needs to be doing it better than the last three years if there is to be any improvement. If that means possibly working the team harder or cutting them loose some days - who cares as long as he produces more wins than loses and we get into the playoffs?
  24. The Bills have announced that tickets will be required to attend the first weekend of training camp. "By ticketing these practices we can have a firm grasp on the attendance numbers. Normally, our first set of practices is on a Friday and we see spiked attendance on Saturday. This year, our first practices are on Saturday and Sunday and we want to be proactive with the possibility of attendance at those sessions reaching a point that could pose a safety issue." said Russ Brandon, Buffalo Bills chief operating officer/general manager. For anyone that attended camp last year on a nice weekend day, when attendance was heavy, you might have spent over an hour with parking and/or waiting for your turn at a shuttle bus. Parking lot overflows were common at East Rochester High School – for which you were given instructions to a lot south of town. Since a camp session only lasts a short time, you might have finally made it to camp in time to watch the team wrap up drills or head to the locker room. East Rochester High School is pretty close to camp, but there just isn’t very many parking spots or room for all the bus traffic when there are other events going on at the school. Not sure if requiring free tickets will help, but why not sell the tickets at the price of the shuttle bus fee - which is required anyway - and then designate which tickets are for which parking lot? Then the number of tickets issued could be adjusted with events going on at the schools. Fans from out of town will be able to plan on arriving at their designated parking lot with less chance of being given instructions to another lot and missing camp (after the drive from Buffalo).
  25. Yes, let’s give Marv some credit for savaging something out of Tom Donohoe’s bust selection. Two thirds and a seventh rounder was a great deal for Willis.
