  1. Sorry just got home from work - weekend time . Its 7 pm west coast time. Ill dish some tidbits out - If you have about $50 to burn (per ticket) the Kings are playing the Avalanche tomorrow at the Grand Garden. I would never go to a hockey game in Vegas, especially pre season, but I did see a guy wearing an Avalanche jersey in the casino today. For betting, hmm I turned in my employee contest picks today and cant really think of any "best bets" for the NFL. Most of the spreads I was going off, and they may have changed, were either too small or too broad to bother. The Colts were giving 15.5 to the Browns for instance. Probably the one I'd say is the best was the Giants are getting 6.5 at the Chargers, and that should be a pretty close one. I took the Jags last week +7.5 in Indy in a similar type game, although that one point is a big difference. If you're a poker fan stop by Bellagio, theres a good chance you'll see some famous players there on the weeekend thats where they usually play. And if you have about $200 laying around you can eat at one of the French restaurants that just opened last week at the MGM Gambling wise - dont spend too much. Its easy to keep going - thinking youll just win it back. Trust me - you wont. House always wins!
  2. Madden talking about opposing defenses against Vick - "They have to send these fast linebackers and defensive backs after Vick, because he's a fast quarterback, so theres really no chance for the linemen to catch him" genius
  3. Hes murdering guys out there on the field, its nuts
  4. http://www.2005.buffalojills.net/usersphp/...ername=adrienne Went to high school with her. Didn't recognize her at first - looks alot different than high school, could tell by the name though (heard she was a Jill). And her swimsuit pic also looks nothing like I remember. Weird.
  5. I'll be there - 3 of my best buddies from back in Buffalo are coming into Vegas I believe Friday the 18th. We'll be driving out Saturday, then got tickets to the game and SDBBC tailgate as well. Looking forward to it already!
  6. V Coach - Roscoe Parrish underwent successful surgery this morning on his injured wrist. The injury is not classified as season - ending. Wow thanks for the details. So he may be back next week, or by Xmas.
  7. I just saw George Seifert at the airport.
  8. Just made an online donation here - http://www.huntershope.org/ - easy for the out-of towners. Also donated $20 last year when I got Jimbo's autograph in Rochester. Win-win situation.
  9. RIP kid - you and your family did more for others than most can hope for Hunter's Hope is one charity I will never tire of giving to - especially now
  10. This comes up for me alot at work - in Las Vegas, most certainly not Bills country. My good friend from work always rags on me about the Bills, you know the 4 super bowls, etc etc. Heard it a thousand times. One day a while ago we were talking about it at lunch - really all we talk about is sports - and I brought up how we repeatedly get screwed by refs, referencing the Just Give it to Em game. He immediately gets pissed, but for a different reason than all of us. Being in Las Vegas, he had a few big bets placed that day on the nfl games. The last one was the Bills-NE game. He's watching it end, as we all were, and the whole mess transpires as has been covered before. Then he watches the 2 point conversion-walk in as Wade and the troops left the field. TUrns out the 2 point conv costs him on a big bet, as the Pats either covered or beat the spread (probably beat the spread) w/ the 2 pointer and would have pushed w/ the extra point. A Raiders fan, he said that's bad for him, but not as bad as the tuck rule, which I bring up often as further evidence of the NFL's BS. Gets us both worked up. Quite a productive way to spend the lunch break.
  11. The humidity might be low, but it's still freakin hot. Last week here in Las Vegas there were I believe 4 straight days of 115+ high temps. It's not humid, but to give you an idea 115 (actually 117 maybe last Sunday or Monday? don't remember) in the sun feels like an oven, truly. The heat comes from everywhere. I was out at the Hoover Dam a few weeks ago (friends visiting, that place is like Niag Falls when I lived in WNY) and it was REALLY hot, had to be close to 120 w/ all that rock around. It was a struggle to be outside for about 20 minutes. And the kicker with the heat is that it stays around. Last week at night it would be about 105 at 10 pm, because the land - concrete, stucco buildings, just the plain desert - soaks up the heat throughout the day. Last Monday as I was leaving for work at 7:30 am it was 103 already. That's hot for early morning. Now it's only 100 out. I think last week might be the hottest it'll be all summer. And as lawnboy1977 said, the very mild winter will more than compensate!
  12. 2002 VW Jetta - GLS 1.8 Turbo - standard - silver exterior. That's about all I know about it. Like it much better than my old car -Saturn.
  13. Just rediscovered this ... here are a few versions of the movie trailer.. Two who are known on this board - I was in tears watching this These men team up for the Bills broadcast - and team up to crash the wedding! Oh man, I am still laughing from these
  14. I don't like the monorail at all - been on it twice I think. While I see the reasoning, I hate having to walk to so far to the stations at each hotel. It's not much more convenient than getting a taxi or walking if it's later in the day and not so hot. Although seeing the numbers, the monorail does pretty well after some early glitches, so it must just be me that doesn't like it.
  15. Thats very simplistic, but more or less true. The win percentage on both slots and table games isn't as high as people may think, but the volume (drop and handle - amount of money taken in at tables and slots) is so high that casinos still make a ton of money.
  16. Watch the Travel Channel - I can't count how many times I've stumbled across Vegas-related shows on there, many about the technology and surveillance aspects, can't tell you specifically when but I know they're on there alot. I don't work in the casino, but at one. I work in finance, so alot of my work deals with the casino. There is alot that goes on behind the scenes that people would be astounded to know. The marketing and player development at some of the larger hotel/casinos is amazing - my hotel has a vice president in each of these areas - Casino Marketing, National Marketing, sales and marketing, player development, casino cage/collections/credit, slot marketing, casino operations, slot operations, etc (theres probably more, thats all I can think of now, if I'm bored tomorrow at work I may see what others there are for fun). Thats alot of high level people overseeing the casino. And the corporate structure is similar - there is a huge concentration on casino marketing. And not to frighten, but if you use a player's club card, there is alot of info on there (although you knowingly give most of it). Needless to say, alot goes on, i keep learning new things each day. And about the "free drinks", sure you're still playing, but the waitress will still come by if you're winning, and the way i look at it is if you lose $20-30 and get a bunch of drinks out of it, no big loss. Ok ive said enough. Good luck to all the players out there - and if you play at a casino out here, you're probably contributing to my salary
  17. I work at one of these casinos - I'll tell you straight up there's no tour that will show you how the casinos run. That would only be unless you knew someone who had the time/permission to do it specially for you. About the only tour you can get would be to learn how to play some of the games, especially like craps. But there really aren't any kinds of tours that give away the "secrets" for the public.
  18. fyi the whole concert(s) are being streamed on music.aol.com - you can click on each city, and there's no annoying interruption of the MTV/VH1 morons.
  19. What a jolly English coincidence - I just opened up my e-mail.... What a lucky guy I am - 6.5 mil British pounds!
  20. It was warm later last week, then cooled off to the mid 90's over the weekend. It wont be cooler than 90 for a high for at least 2 months now. The next few days its getting incrementally hotter - up to the mid to upper 100's for the weekend. But low 90's is perfect for here. And yes it's a dry heat, but it's STILL hot!
  21. High of 100 here today in Vegas. Felt a little chill in the air. Don't worry, it'll be back to about 108 for the weekend.
  22. This is perfect - thanks alot man. I don't mind the drive to Henderson - I know a few people living there anyways. I was at UNLV last summer, don't remember the Stake Out (hmm). I will definitely check all those out, though, thanks! Somehow the only place I was at last summer that had Labbats was at Westward Ho, one of the worst (but cheapest) casinos on the strip And it seems so many cities I've been to have a "Buffalo Rd" its amazing. I'm looking at apts in that area (Flamingo, Durango - near Desert Breeze Park).
  23. I'm going to be a Financial Analyst. Probably sounds better than it actually is. But I did similar work there last summer as an intern, and they hired me back full time, so I must have done something right. One major part of the job is analyzing the casino - ie, how much people lose and how much the house wins -- trust me, most people do not win at the casinos there. But by all means, continue going out there and working to pay my salary Thanks for the tip, aussie, ill be on the lookout for The Stake Out.
  24. I'll toot my own horn here. About to graduate from school - RIT - on Saturday. I have a job already in Las Vegas at MGM Grand, I am leaving next Monday to drive out. I am currently searching hard for apartments, and that brings up my next topic - Bills backers or bars. I looked on buffalobills.com and searched through here, couldn't really find anything. Is anyone currently in Las Vegas, or know of any bars in the area that show Bills games (granted many will be at 10 am ) or if there is a Bills backers group there?? Thanks guys. Again, just trying to settle the important things before I make my move.
