  1. Speaking of the DOD, I found it rather humorous that the contractor required department approval for the release of classified material to CTU. Me and my friend looked at each other right away and said "The Secretary!" because, duh, the Sec of Def is like 10 feet away. Then of course Driscoll noted they could just consult Secretary Heller . Another side note - anyone else find it strange that the man transporting the briefcase had no known identity at all, even to CTU, after checking every database?? Seems fishy, I thought they would bring that up to the contractor CEO. The only thought that comes to mind is he was a covert CIA agent, but he was working for DoD/the contractor. Hmm
  2. I saw it from day one. Very easy to see IMO. Although I was blindsided by Nina in season 1. The show grows on you I guess. I also love the terrorist family, not for their ideals obviously, but because of the way their characters are portrayed as ruthless, stop at nothing. And the woman Shorah is a damn good actress. Also, I'm almost sure Chloe was a full-fledged CTU employee? Not a consultant? AD?
  3. Great video - thanks! - similar to the game highlight videos from last season.
  4. Lol yea I wish I worked there. I would never step foot in front of the camera, but I would love to have a job to research meaningless sports trivia like that. I would work for very little too
  5. Also noted on SportsCenter the other night that if NE wins, the combined record of their playoff opponents would be 40-8 (Indy 12-4, Pitt 15-1, Phil 13-3). That would be the best all time - bettering of course the 1990 Giants :I starred in Brokeback Mountain: , with 38-10 (Chicago 11-5, SF 14-2, Buff 13-3). At least NE was 1-15 in 1990 Sorry to interrupt, now back to your debate on Mike Vick.
  6. That boils down to it. Widescreen is what the film is shot in, and it loses alot already being shown on a TV screen, widescreen TV or not. The film is made to be seen on a huge screen at a movie theatre. Thus the reason at the beginning of every movie shown on TV "this film has been adapted from its original form and formated to fit your screen." As the previous post indicates, the director makes the movie to be viewed in the format is in, and this is lost when the aspect ratio is reduced from widescreen to normal. I never realized the difference until the film class I took in college - professor asked everyone if they'd ever seen a movie on television. Everyone raised their hands. He laughed and said we were all wrong. A little snotty, but true.
  7. I agree with the mole as an ever-recurring concept - but on this one I give them a pass. This chick was "brought in" it seems for no reason at all, apparently as a consultant, I dont really remember I think it was the second hour. Apparently sleeping with Curtis got her enough clout to get into CTU. I have a feeling she may not be dealing with the "top" level terrorists, as it is so early in the season to reveal something so damaging, and now every show will be her trying to avert CTU and get info out to her comrades. Keep in mind, though, last season we thought Gael was a mole, when in fact he was working with Tony unbeknownst to anyone else at CTU. Could be a similar route here..
  8. Solid episode tonight - after 3 and a half seasons I was not at all surprised that Jack was able to more or less rescue the SoD by himself. Good twists with the son, first looking dead, then turning on them - that's quite the dysfunctional family. Saw the "black-Nina" as a mole from the first time she showed up - that was pretty obvious. But I like the new storyline focus on the nuclear plants, and how the kidnapping of the SoD had absolutely nothing to do with it. Looking forward to a couple filler episodes until the 12th one..
  9. I downloaded Mozilla in late October last year - is there a newer version available on mozilla.com? I'm not sure what version I have.
  10. I just saw it tonight, and thought it was hilarious. My friend told me Napoleon is just like my old roommate, and he is, so it was even funnier. Similar mannerisms (like how he walks, and just says "Gosh!" all the time - perfect likening). I agree - you'll either love it or hate it. I loved it, and I'll probably watch it again tomorrow.
  11. Haha Schopp was talking about that on the show yesterday, didnt realize it was ice too. Just heard the 1 inch thing and laughed.
  12. Henrietta - south suburb of Rochester - 8-10"
  13. Easy -- the first episode was a pilot. Not alot of the ideas survived when the series was picked up by NBC almost a year later. Elaine's character was brought in, the cafe waitress was dropped, Michael Richard's character was changed from Kessler to Kramer, and Jerry's apartment set up was changed. Alot of the changes are discussed in the extras on the DVD.
  14. They had a ton of fans at the game last month at RWS. Didn't seem to phase them that their team was in the gutter - still supported them. They even laughed at a sign that was put up in the parking lot by some Bills fans: Cleveland Browns Suck . Most are definitely die hards though, and even came back to the team after losing it for a few years. That had to suck.
  15. If we get Diem AND Demulling - our line improves immensely. I love that thinking! And Zeroue and Looker would be very serviceable backups. Like Nugent in the 2nd as well. Solid all around BGiM.
  16. 8. Walt Coleman, Patriots, AFC divisional round, Jan. 19, 2002 OK, Coleman, a referee, didn't technically play for the Pats. hahahaha
  17. Didn't the phins already trade away their 2nd and/or 3rd in getting Feeley and Gordon last year?? They might not have either. Too bad, cuz they REALLY need picks.
  18. Takes one to know one apparently..
  19. I'm pretty sure I heard that AVP has been hired as QBs coach at Univ of Pitt (with Wannstedt), but I only heard that somewhere, didn't read anything confirming it. From what I heard, it was mixed for both of them. Murphy obviously has the knowledge and experience, having been in the booth for almost 20 years and covering the Bills on a weekly basis. My roommate says, and I agree, about him though that something's missing that Van had - emotion, and the ability to portray that over the dial. I never really got the sense that he was excited the Bills had scored or made a great play - which you would usually expect a play-by-play man to be even-keeled, but this is the hometown guy (see Jeanerett for further example). Overall he was good as a play-by-play guy, though, and should improve. AVP, who I love to death and named my fantasy football team after, also had his plusses and minuses. Having season tickets I didn't get a chance to hear much, but it seemed that AVP was either explaining some nuances or traits that he noticed on the field, as he had much knowledge of the team and league he just retired from, and also the unbridled excitement of a school boy. On nearly every big play for the Bills, you can hear Murph making the call with "GO BABY!!!!" or "YEAAAA!!!" in the background, as he obvioulsy is still a huge Bills fan and acted just as he would on the sidelines. Also evidenced in that IIRC he picked the Bills to win EVERY GAME this year on the pregame show - he was 9-6 going into the Pittsburgh game. At least he was honest. But his analysis was very good, obviously due to his knowledge the game. That is invaluable in an analyst. To actually ANALYZE the play. Overall I'd say they were both ok - and Peck is a solid sidelines guy - will be interesting to see who will replace him if he does in fact go to Pitt.
  20. Just read Dr. Z's review of the year for the NFL game commentating crews for all the networks. Pretty straightforward stuff and while long is also a very interesting read. He puts it in good perspective. Here is the article: http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylc=X3oD...cnnsi&type=lgns And here is my favorite part: Surprised he didn't mention their man love for Mike Vick
  21. I was at the wedding on Halloween at the Cardinals game - great time
  22. Yes - I actually didn't watch the 1st season when it was on. My roommates at the time watched the rerun-marathon on Labor Day in 2002 on FX - 24 hours of 24 - where they showed the entire season. They, being 22 year old druggies, watched the entire thing straight. I finally got sucked in by about the 15th episode or so, and couldn't move, I watched the last 8 or whatever episodes. Then the following May, after the end of season 2, I decided to watch season 1 in its entirety (my roommate had it saved on his Tivo). Took me about 4 days, WITH work in between (wasn't on vacation or anything) - it was THAT good to watch, especially the beginning of the season like I said. As far as the DVD, yes you can rent it at Blockbuster, might be cheaper than buying the entire season, that's probably 8 discs or so. But it's well worth it if you have the time. And they are all fairly independent of each other. While there are some characters/plot lines that carry over, some more subtly than others, you can still enjoy any season in and of itself without really knowing the rest. And dammit get rid of that cowbell man
  23. Agreed completely. Season 1, especially the first half, was amazing. 2 and 3 were alright, but nothing like 1. It's definitely worth renting/buying on DVD.
