By going 0-2, and soon to be 0-3 at least (the Dols will lose), you're not even close to a 0.4375 winning percentage (7-9).

Mort just said a few interesting things

Possibly. But I don't see the attraction with this kid. He scored 23 TD's (21 passing and 2 rushing) and had 15 turnovers (11 INT's and 4 lost fumbles). Those aren't impressive stats at all. And he had Moss, Welker, and Faulk to throw to and amassed most of his yards and TD's against pass defenses in the bottom third of the league. Plus he was sacked 47 times behind one of the best O-lines in the NFL, which is a concern from an injury and fumbling aspect. Then to top it off, after being franchised, he'll probably be looking for a $10m/year deal with a huge signing bonus, and the team will have to give up a 1st rounder. Not worth it. Not even close. -
This is about the biggest "who cares" arrest in the history of NFL arrests. Next thing we know, we'll be hearing about parking tickets or jaywalking.

Didn't see that Colts loss coming. Although those cross-country flights/games are killers. Fortunately the Ravens don't have to cross timezones and have just a 2-1/2 hour flight.
-
That's because Jerruh is too arrogant to admit he made a mistake in saying his coaches were safe, before his team laid an egg against the Eagles and were knocked out of the playoffs.

I'm still scratching my head wondering why you picked Leinart, of all the players picked after Whitner? The guy has barely played and played worse than JP when he HAS actually played, and he got to throw to Fitzgerald and Boldin, and had Edge as his RB. Are you talking about "what pick would have been worse than Whitner for the Bills?"
-
The Ravens will wipe the walls with Miami, just like in Week 7. The only iffy game this weekend IMHO was the Cards-Atlanta game, but I picked the Cards and they held on to win.

Hallalujah! Shanahan is the only other "genius" coach in the NFL, besides Belichick. And he's had great success beating Belichick.
-
Jauron and the Bills almost beat the Patriots on opening day 2006. Almost only counts...

Pyrite gal, is that you?

Sorry but Spygate tarnishes his "greatness." And as for last year, just look at what Matt Cassel, who hadn't started a game since high school, did this year with the same offense.

LOL! I'm "not concerned with long term success?" Well, let's play along and say I'm not (which would be wrong). What do I have to do with the direction of the Bills? What do you have to do with it? The answer is, nothing. And the reality is that Ralph will never spend $50+M (since it took $27M to fire Cameron and his staff, I can only assume that it took at least as much to hire Parcells and co.) on his front office and coaches and there's little we can do about it except for not going to games. Which is something I've advocated, should the Bills not sign some of the top FA's, which is what Ralph apparently thinks is the problem (i.e. lack of talent). And still that probably wouldn't change anything. Wishing for his death is low class and saying the team should move is stupid. But getting back to the topic and long term success, you're talking as if the Dols have already achieved it. Nowhere did I say that this wasn't a successful season for the Dols. What I have been saying is that this could be like 2006 was for the Jets, when they looked to be "in prime shape to be successful for the long term," and then followed it up with 2007 and 2008. I'm saying I want to see more than just 1 season of making the playoffs before I'll claim that Huizenga's $50+M was well spent. Why is this such a hard concept to understand? And does this season wash away the stink of last year's 1-15 season, which tied the mark for futility in a 16 game season, until the Lions surpassed it this year? What does last year say about Huizenga? To tell the truth, I'd rather got 7-9 twice in a row than 1-15 and 11-5, making the playoffs and getting blownout. When it comes down to it, there is 1 "successful" team a year and 31 losers. Last of all, the Bills' problems stemmed mainly from the QB position, while it was a position of strength for the Dols, from a guy who has played well in the past. The Bills thought they had it covered with Trent, while Pennington was considered washed-up. Now while the coaching staff might have been able to squeak out a couple more wins (Browns, 2nd Jets game), the team was sunk once Trent started to regress.

Troupe didn't play this year. And from what I recall, Crumpler never even talked with the Bills. Not that it would have made a difference if he had, seeing as how little the Bills utilize the TE. I'd rather have had Gonzalez, but he didn't want to play here.
-
The Dols were successful this season (even though I'm betting they get blownout by the Ravens again). What if they miss the playoffs the next 2 years (like the Jets did after being "successful" in 2006) and Sparano gets fired? I'm looking at "success" as a long term thing, not just one year. See the difference?
-
Look at the schedule. Expecting a new coach to come in and get the Bills to the playoffs is ridiculous. There's no way that more than one team makes the playoffs from the AFC East with that schedule.
-
We'll see about that one. We'll see if they're as healthy, have as great a turnover differential, and get as good of a season out of Pennington. Those factors will go a long way to determining the Dols' fate than Sparano.
-
LOL! And no one else is? I heard the same laments after the 2005 season with Saban, and the 2006 Jets season with Mangini. We'll see where the Dols go next year.
-
Bully for them for making the playoffs and probably getting blown out in their first game, and then returning to earth next year. I guess it made that awesome 1-15 season last year worth it.
-
Not to mention Brady getting injured in the first game.
-
If making the playoffs and never advancing in them is what you're seeking, than I agree. And I guess after 9 years we should be reduced to that. But Schottenheimer can do the same thing for you. We'll have to agree to disagree that the Dols without Pennington would have had a winning record or even a shot at the division title. Pennington won comeback player of the year and more than a few have suggested he should be at least named for NFL MVP, while decrying his omission from the (popularity contest that is the) Pro Bowl.

Dockery would have received a large contract wherever he signed when he was an UFA. Guys like Kelsay and Denney wouldn't have and were mistakes. But their cap hits are sizable enough to protect them for now.
-
The only offensive FA I recall the Bills pursuing was Bryant Johnson. He esched the Bills' low multi-year deal so that he could "showcase" himself in Mike Martz' offense. Now he'll be an UFA again, and probably won't even be offered what the Bills offered him. Were there any other offensive FA's the Bills were looking at?
