The Summer movie season goes for it's final hurrah this Labor Day weekend as moviegoers attempt to catch up with what they missed. September brings in the so called "Adult Season", as more serious fare replaces the popcorn films. With schools back in session, the weather getting cooler and football starting, box office numbers will ease off. Still the month of September provides a lot of diversity for moviegoers.

The Uber-Hot(Physically & in popularity) Megan Fox, headlines "Jennifer's Body". A cheerleader at a small midwestern high school becomes possessed by a demon and sets out to kill off all the guys in town. Taking the main part in this black comedy/horror film could prove to be a smart move for Miss Fox, as she steps out of the shadows of the giant robot franchise. It should be a move that looks to payoff big. Also starring Amanda Seyfried & Adam Brody.

Focus Features goes the animation route, with "9". When 9 first comes to life, he finds himself in a post-apocalyptic world where all humans are gone. Upon discovering a community of other beings like him, 9 takes the lead in an effort to strike back at the machines that control the world and are bent on exterminating most signs of life. The cast is good and the animation looks superb, but going for a serious sci-fi/adventure animated movie is a tough sell to USA audiences. Starring Elijah Wood, Christopher Plummer, Martin Landau, Jennifer Connelly, John C. Reilly & Crispin Glover.

All fans of dancing will be lining up for "Fame". A remake of the 1980s musical centered on the teachers and students at the prestigious New York City High School of Performing Arts. Not much else needs to be said. Starring Kelsey Grammer, Bebe Neuwirth, Megan Mullaly, Naturi Naughton, Kay Panabaker & Anna Maria Perez de Tagle.

Director Tyler Perry brings Madea back in "I Can Do Bad All By Myself". Madea delivers three young adults who tried to rob her home to their aunt, a hard-living nightclub singer who doesn't want the responsibility of parenting the trio. Starring Tyler Perry, Taraji P. Henson, Adam Rodriguez & Mary J. Blige.

In "Extract", The owner of a flower-extract plant, tries to contend with myriad personal and professional problems, such as his potentially unfaithful wife, a hot new temp, and employees who want to take advantage of him. Starring Jason Bateman, Kristen Wiig, Ben Affleck & Mila Kunis.

Aaron Eckhart & Jennifer Aniston find love in, "Love Happens". On a business trip to Seattle, a popular self-help guru sparks with a woman who attends one of his seminars. Their connection causes his to realize, however, that he hasn't truly confronted his wife's recent passing. Also starring Judy Greer & Dan Fogler.

There's more love to be had, albeit in a different way in "All About Steve". Starring Bradley Cooper & Sandra Bullock, both hot after their respectful summer comedies. After Mary Horowitz has one date with a CNN cameraman, the brilliant crossword-puzzle constructor decides the hunk is her true love. While she alienates him by trailing him all over the country, she falls in with a crew of misfits who appreciate her eccentric nature. Also starring Thomas Haden Church.

Bruce Willis stars in "Surrogates". Set in a futuristic world where humans live in isolation and interact through surrogate robots, a cop is forced to leave his home for the first time in years in order to investigate the murders of others' surrogates. Also starring Radha Mitchell & Ving Rhames.

For those looking for horror/thriller, you'll have plenty to choose from.

In "Sorority Row", A group of sorority girls pledge to keep mum on the accidental death of one of their sisters; after graduation, however, they find themselves stalked by a serial killer who seems bent on eliminating anyone who knows their secret. Starring Briana Evigan, Rumer Willis & Carrie Fisher.

In "Pandorum", A pair of crew members aboard a spaceship wake up with no knowledge of their mission or their identities.

Starring Dennis Quaid, Ben Foster & Cam Gigandet.

Kate Beckinsale stars in "Whiteout". At the McMurdo Station in Antarctica, U.S. Marshal Carrie Stetko (Beckinsale) looks to identify and capture a killer before the sun sets for six months. Also starring, Gabriel Macht & Tom Skerritt.

And in "Carriers", Four young people speed across the Southwestern U.S. in a desperate attempt to outrun a viral pandemic. Over the course of a few days, tough moral decisions will have to be made if they have any chance at survival.

Starring Piper Perabo, Chris Pine, Lou Taylor Pucci & Emily VanCamp.

There's more animation as well.

Based on the 1982 childrens book is "Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs". The film focuses on a town where food falls from the sky like rain. Starring Anna Faris, Bruce Campbell, Neil Patrick Harris, Bill Hader, Lauren Graham, James Caan, benjamin Bratt & Mr. T.

From the popular anime series it's "Astro Boy". Set in futuristic Metro City, Astro Boy is about a young robot with incredible powers created by a brilliant scientist in the image of the son he has lost. Starring Freddie Highmore, Nicolas Cage, Kristen Bell, Samuel L. Jackson, Charlize Theron, Donald Sutherland, Bill Nighy & Eugene Levy.

Gerard Butler stars in "Gamer". Set in a future-world where humans can control other humans in mass-scale, multi-player online gaming environments, a star player from a game called "Slayers" looks to regain his independence while taking down the game's mastermind. Also starring Michael C. Hall & Ludacris.

Audrey Tautou is "Coco Before Chanel". The story of Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel and her rise from obscure beginnings to the heights of the fashion world. Also starring Benoit Poelvoorde & Alessandro Nivola.

Extract is from Mike Judge. I saw a trailer and it reminds of Office Space; I'm interested in seeing that movie.

Did it remind you of Office Space since they constantly mentioned it in the trailer? The ads I've seen are so busy mentioning "from the makers of Office Space" that I've never gotten a feel for what the movie is about at all. I get the same reaction from all the ads I've seen for "9". It's nothing but flashy graphics and nothing about the movie itself. I'm glad Mark starts these threads because it's usually the only place where I actually find out what these movies are actually about.

The trailer I've seen in the theater makes me think 9 is the cartoon version of Terminator or The Matrix. Machines take over the world and it's up to a few people (or in this case, stuffed dolls) to stop them.

I've only seen the tv spots and I'm left with a great big WTF. I have to wonder how many people that really brings into the theaters. Sure, I could just look it up on the internet, but most of the time the ads don't leave me curious enough for that.

Thanks, Mark!

I'll probably see Coco before Chanel.

There's been a steady stream of French flicks the past few years - my guess is that the successes of Amelie and Chocolat spurred it.

You're welcome, Audrey Tautou is very talented and very lovely. Amelie was delightful and Chocolat was pretty good, although I was surprised that it was nominated for best picture.

Katy Mixon was the guest on today's Adam Carolla podcast. You may know her from "Eastbound & Down" on HBO. She's in "All About Steve". It was a decent interview. Despite her southern drawl, you easily sense she's smarter than the average bear. Her dad, a physician, played football at LSU. Adam kept ranting about how much cooler her family was than his.

She mentioned that they will start filming a second season of EB&D early next year.

I saw Megan Fox on a Two and Half Men rerun on the new HDTV on Mon or Tue night. She was playing a 16-year old and had to be maybe 17 at the time it was filmed. I felt dirty.

Less Dirty, More Dirty, or Just As Dirty as you felt the first time you saw Natalie Portman in "Beautiful Girls". It's okay, you can admit it.

Saw it this week, decent movie for a matinée price, not sure about evening price. I'd have to say people that like Office Space, Clerks, Dogma and that type of smart comedy would probably like this movie.
