The Tomcat
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...-getting-close/ Bills, Maybin getting close Posted by Mike Florio on August 20, 2009 11:31 PM ET A league source tells us that the Buffalo Bills and defensive end Aaron Maybin, the eleventh overall pick in the 2009 draft, are getting close to an agreement. As we understand it, a deal has not yet been reached, and the two sides have more work to do. That said, significant progress has been made in the past couple of days, especially since things weren't looking too promising as recently as Wednesday. So Maybin soon could be ending a holdout that began nearly four weeks ago, when the Bills became the first team to open training camp. The other two remaining holdouts are Bengals tackle Andre Smith, the sixth overall pick in the draft, and 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree, the tenth overall selection. GET IT DONE ALREADY!!! WellDressed
With a truly cheap owner in Mike Brown, I don't see jello breasts signing any contract anytime soon. http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/...-getting-close/ Bills, Maybin getting close Posted by Mike Florio on August 20, 2009 11:31 PM ET A league source tells us that the Buffalo Bills and defensive end Aaron Maybin, the eleventh overall pick in the 2009 draft, are getting close to an agreement. Dan
Maybin has the same agent as Vick, yeah? Any chance the guy was working overtime on Vick and just let the Maybin negotiations slide until the Vick deal was done??

Any chance the guy was working overtime on Vick and just let the Maybin negotiations slide until the Vick deal was done?? Unlikely, Maybin's contract entails a significantly higher payout than Vick's does. Trying to sign Mike Vick to a team is a relatively thankless job for a high profile NFL agent. Its more likely that he was waiting to see what Crabtree received and when it became obvious nothing was happening there he actually went to work on this thing. Any chance the guy was working overtime on Vick and just let the Maybin negotiations slide until the Vick deal was done?? I actually suggested that the other day. (Great minds think alike, and so do ours, apparently.) Wawrow noted that ex-Penn Stater, Chafie Fields, was handling the Bills negotiation for Maybin, not Segal. I still think it may have played some part in the delay.
