angrygnome Posted August 11, 2009 Share Posted August 11, 2009 Well after the layoff, my bankruptcy has finally taken the worse turn possible for a man with two job interviews Thursday and Friday. Ten minutes ago my car got reposed. I'll make it to the interviews sure, but I have no long-term transportation now for the first time since I was 17. My savings went to the lawyer to file my case, so now: No cash and No ride. The bank wants around a grand to give it back, which is impossible in the ten day window they offer. Buy here pay here? I know they prey on the desperate, and insane interest rate will suck. But at this point what other options do I have? I was wondering if anyone (especially in the Buffalo/Niagara area) had any experience with my situation. I know I would be best suited to save over a few weeks and buy outright, but the pennies I collect on unemployment go the utilities/food/mortgage. I'm really screwed. I need a car to drive to the job, but a job to buy the car. And worst of all: Telling Mrs.Gnome whom is still sleeping that the car is gone. Can't wait for that one. Well I will be using my girlfriends car while she is at work, but I really am going to need my own once I (hopefully) land one of these jobs this week. Really try a local lot... I know my town has one and I problably can pick up something that runs for about 1-1.5k... And it would most like last (with a little love) for many years!! Ford/Merc Tempo/Topaz. These vehicles sold in huge numbers, and provided decent transportation. Huge amounts of good spare parts out there in the junkyards. Repairs are cheap and easy to do - most any mechanic that can spell his own name can fix these straightforward vehicles. If I were down on my luck and had to have a car, I'd look toward these. My case was filed today, and the bank agreed to include all the reposession fees into my case so I'll be getting it back early next week. Oh, and Mrs. Gnome didn't kill me.
