For all the posters who say "Hardy is a bust"

Recommended Posts

can;t tell if he can run an NFL route since he can not get off the line of scrimmage

or identify a blitz or any other skill needed to be a WR

but he is tall so he must be good :wallbash:

I'm willing to bet the hundreds of professional football scouts, coaches, personnel directors and executives who got this wrong could really use someone like you to better diagnose their players.

Hundreds of scouts, coaches, directors, and executives all had the same opinion? I must have missed that.

Russell Copeland, Justin Armour, Roscoe Parrish, Reggie Germany

write those names across a 10 foot banner........write the name James Hardy on an 8x11 sheet of paper.......place a pin through said 8x11 sheet.......stand back 10 feet.......blindfold yourself.........approach banner......stick pinned sheet onto banner........take blindfold off.......see where James Hardy will end up ranked as a wide receiver in Bills history.

Anybody remember that amazing catch Armour made in the back of the end zone against the 49ers?

Another idiot who can't make sense of what they read. You don't think the majority of professional football execs had James Hardy as Day 1 WR in last years draft? Yes, that constitutes HUNDREDS of people. If only they had the clairvoyance of spartacus and pushthepile...

Oh right, Day 1 grades mean the player is lock to be good. Thanks Grip, argument over.

Receivers drafted in the first round have about a 50% chance of not being a major bust.

Pushthepile, are you saying that this years receivers are excellent and sure to be great, or that it is too early to tell?

First of all you are all crazy calling him a bust after last year poor perfomance by the entire team.

Please tell me what he needs to do this year to lose the bust term. Lets be real now. I dont want to hear 60 rec and 10 TDS because we know that wont happend with the arrival of TO

Lets hear it.

Mainly, I think he needs to run better routes. I wouldn't call him a "bust" yet. I'd say his rookie year was a disappointment, but wouldn't call him a bust. However, you could see the frustration in Edward's face at times after an incomplete pass in Hardy's direction. He just doesn't move well, but that could have a lot to do with confidence, too. I say give him some time. He'll be learning from a couple of the best receivers in the game, so that's a big plus.

Play considerably better than he did before his injury. He should start by not dropping so many passes. I'm not ready to write him off as a bust, but he needs to show improvement when he gets back on the field.

can everyone who thinks hes a bust use some intelligence? its a known fact most WRs are not good their first year. look at eric moulds please or Chad Johnson or most good WRs. It takes 2-3 years, and for Hardy look closer to 3 due to the injury and having a HOF replace him for the time being. Lee had a good first year by most standards, but that is rare. look at these GREAT receivers down below. a lot didnt even START as WRs but were RT their first year. so use some intelligence dont just label a dude a bust because you were expecting the second coming of Randy Moss in year one...

Catch the balls that are thrown to him

Run a proper route

Read a defense

Beat a CB at the line of scrimmage

Know the snap count

Adjust to the ball

Not shy away from contact

Use his height to some kind of advantage

stop using the rookie excuse card,

and yes catch the balls thrown to him

Other than the above he's an NFL caliber receiver.

The amazing think to me are the posters who thought he was going to be a difference maker his rookie year- 1. the rookie WRs who do anything are as rare as hens teeth and 2. Hardy was considered particularly raw coming out of college but with a high upside- Hardy was considered a project ,if the Bills wanted a big contributor at WR last year they needed to go into FA, which they did this year, see Juaron learns, abet slowly.

No doubt...I'll admit that I hoped he would contribute a lot...but realistically, judging by the way people seem to be giving up on Hardy already, you'd think the 2008 NFL Draft was the worst ever for WRs. Eddie Royal and DeSean Jackson were difference makers so the rest are all busts? LMAO

Hardy wasn't considered raw until he started to disappoint at OTAs. That was when we started to hear about how raw he was.

He still has a chance to be good. Only people without patience (and therefore with judgment problems) have declared him a bust. But he has disappointed, and it's impossible to be sure what he will become.
