Josh Reed

lol. Let me guess, you want to trade Jason Peters too, right?

Want to, no. Is it going to happen, most likely. The guy obviously doesn't want to be here. Besides, this post is about Reed, so take your Peter's stuff to one of the numerous threads about him.

Reed had one year of the drops, maybe two if your stretch it,. And if you had paid attention, you would have realized it had little to do with his hands, and everything to do with his head. On most other teams, he would have been used better than he has as a Bill, and been far more productive, IMO.

You are exactly right. Most other teams would have had him in the slot to begin with.

At LSU Reed was one of the most productive receivers in LSU history, considering he played RB most of his freshmen season and WR the next two. 2x First-team All-SEC (2000-2001) Consensus First-team All-American (2001) Fred Biletnikoff Award (2001)He holds the SEC record for receiving yardage in a game (293 vs. Alabama in 2001)Reed also holds the SEC season record for receiving yardage per game (145.0 in 2001)

The Bills took him in the second round in 02, and looking at his college stats you would think he would have become more then just a possession receiver after 7 years and only 9 TD's in 7 seasons

JR had a great rookie season in 2002, and then, missed a fair amount of his second season to injury. For about two or three seasons, his role was changed in the offense, depending on who the OC was that year... Reed was unjustifiably the Bills offensive whipping boy...

As for the Welker aspirations, I don't think so. If he were used properly, and had more dependable hands, though, I could see Roscoe Parrish being a player similar to Welker...you have to hit him quick, with some space around him, and he should be able to make a lot out of what looks like it will be a little, using his speed...we shall see...

I was just reading Tim Grahams blog and he has a list of all AFC East teams and the drops per WR. It shows that Josh Reed had 56 receptions last year and 0 drops. (Lee Evans only had 2 as well). I thought for over 50 receptions and no drops, that it was a pretty significant accomplishment. He has let his problems of catching ball remain in the past and has become a very dependable NFL WR. Nice job Josh!!! (Also, Royal and Lynch had the most at 7, and T.O. had 9 for the Cowboys)

he's gotten a hell of a lot better, i hope he's a bill for life

Speaking of TO's 9 drops (in 140 targets), I recall Sean Payton criticizing TO for them, right after he was cut by the Cowboys. Well I happened to check-out Saints' WR stats, and Marques Colston dropped 8 passes in 88 targets.

Agree. In a league full of musical chair receivers, we've watched Reed grow up into a possession receiver with tenacity-after-catch skills, an impressive thrown-to/caught percentage, and some running-back prowess.

If T.O. brings what he's capable of, Reed makes the Pro-Bowl this year. He's a natural slot/posession receiver. I beleive he'll have a Wes Welkerish campaign in '09.

He might...

If we had Tom Brady....

And if we DIDN'T have DJ

Reed has been among the WR leaders in catch percentage the past 3 years, which is the percentage of passes thrown to him that are caught, regardless of anything else. Pretty impressive for a guy who was a drop machine after his rookie year...
