You get much closer to the Canadian market, you boost tourism in the falls and you build on the regional concept for the franchise. I'm sure the family wants to blow their inheritance on a new stadium for the team they will sell. That's like trading in a car and continuing to pay on it, why trade it. People could steal it, sell it and buy many homes there for what its worth Niagara Falls has allot of potential to draw folks from not just here in our country, but from Canada and around the world. The American side of the falls is kind of ghetto and its all the more reason something should be done to make improvements. Because of the close proximity, Buffalo stands to gain more than it would lose by improving the American side of the falls with a new Stadium making it a win, win situation. The hotel capacity on both sides of the border from Mid Sept. - Mar. (the Non tourist season) Possible Superbowl, NCAA Regional Finals or Final Four. Canadians could park in NF Ont and walk across the Rainbow bridge. On a clear day you could see both Buffalo and Toronto from the cheap seats. As part of the stadium complex there could be year round tourist attractions. (Bills HOF, NFL Experience others) Like the Patriots did, build a mall attached to the stadium. The one thing the Canadian side of the falls can not compete with is "Americana" Tourists from Asia, South America and Europe want a piece of "Americana" In the mall, house the following anchor stores (Disney, Harley Davidson, Levi Strauss others...) It's the truth. Now, I think a stadium in the Falls might be one of the first steps toward getting some urban renewal going on in the area. But, it is likely simply a pipe-dream. I'm not sure you understand why a team moves. A team will move to Toronto or L.A. because it sells tickets. Unless I'm mistaken, there are no wealthy owners from NF-US. The increased revenues from the people that come there to live and work or the increase in tourist activity. Offside Number 76 Posted March 29, 2009 Share Posted March 29, 2009 I just wanted to know how everyone else felt about re locating to Niagara Falls. I myself am torn. On one hand I like the idea. Imagine this. A state of the art stadium with the falls as the backdrop. Hotels for tourists and things to do. Money will get put back into the city of NF and then the city can begin to rebuild and gain much needed tourism dollars. How nice would it be if our side looked like the other side but better with a beautiful stadium. On the other hand, I cant imagine the Bills not being in erie county. It would seem strange at first but maybe we could get used to it. I think for the Bills to remain in Erie County they have to put the stadium downtown on the waterfront. Dont get me wrong, Orchard Park is fun and easy access. But the stadium itself is really a second rate stadium now. When you walk in it feels dreary and uninviting. I figured this would be a fun topic to talk about instead of Ralph has passed, Ralph is alive, or some of the other silly and disrespectful posts that have been posted lately. Semper Fi 1. The county shouldn't matter. DC and NYG/NYJ aren't even in the same state (or district) as the teams named after those cities. NF (US) is a suburb just like OP is, regardless of where the county lines are drawn. To some of us in Buffalo (and I mean the city of Buffalo), NF is closer than OP. From my West Side house, NF is about 20 mins, and OP, 30. It would hardly change the local character of the team, much less the name. 2. It would boost tourism. 3. There is not much to do in NF, but there is NOTHING to do in OP. 4. There is a lot of vacant land, because there are a lot of closed production facilities. Frankly, except for the fact that NF is more corrupt than any other area in the free world, it's a really good idea. Really good. What's the real downside? muddleman Posted March 29, 2009 Share Posted March 29, 2009 I live in Lewistom which is a stones throw away from the Falls and as much as I would love the commute (season ticket holder since 1980 when I was 18 years old) It will never happen.
