Terrell Owens

Getting kind of wary about lack of movement at OBD.

If we go into this season without Peters, no upgrade at

the guard position, no tight end and especially no real

pass rush, you can kiss off any kind of impact Owens

would have had.

My guess is we need a pass rusher, TE and guard, at the

very least. If we scr#w up this Peters thing, AGAIN, then

obviously that would need some attention also.

Just hoping the Bills start making some moves and get

a few known players at important positions via FA, and

not just the draft.

Do you think the draft will do nothing? It's impossible to fill every single hole in one year.

Correct, it is impossible to fill every single hole in a year.

The draft has been proven to maybe provide a single impact

player for the upcoming season. Not saying that some of the

draft picks may contribute quite well down the road, just that

we need impact this season.

I outlined a few of the holes we have, as we have many. My hope is

we can fill as many of those with FA's who hopefully are upgrades

over last year. Yes, I know, I'm asking for a lot.

I think Owens is going to show us 2 things. First, hes going to show us Lee Evans is a terrific football player with a legit WR on the other side of him. And second....he will show us that Trent is a good QB with the right weapons around him.

But ive got to be honest here, the OL scares me to death!

Games are won in the trenches! If you dont block, WR's simply dont get the ball. I mean it dont take a genius to figure it out. I seen enough of Trent laying on his back cause of the OL. His career could have been ended a few times last season. Mainly that hit by Adrian Wilson.

We've already done more than we have other offseasons

Wasnt Peerless Price a terrific football player next to Eric Moulds, and was a bust everywhere else, including his second stint here. I like Lee alot but, most WR will have a career season lined up opposite TO.

Almost every QB in the NFL is good QB with a good supporting cast and the right system. I am not sold on TE, he still has some question marks, and only 16 games to answer them. I am most worried about his ability to find our new play TOy

The line doesnt scare me that much, aside from Peters they did ok with the pass, the run is significantly more of an issue with them. It does need to be adressed because we will most likely see Peters leave

We've already done more than we have other offseasons

what a mediocre or worse cb, ol, and back up qb. seems like the same old Bills FA to me, a bunch of high motor, lack luster 2nd stringer who will somehow manage to start here.

all we did was bring in TO...thats the only thing we have done in FA since Drew Bledsoe

I am not a big fan of the Owens signing. I can deal with the douchey personality, and I can fathom a scenario where he might not be a locker room distraction for a year. My problem is, we signed a 1 year deal with a 36 NFL wr who is on the downside of his career. He is still very good. If he has a great season, and is gone afterwards, what difference will it have made? It may give us some insight as to how good Trent Edwards is, but wouldn't have making a pricier, but I think better move, of getting an Anquan Boldin done the same thing? Wouldn't you feel better if the Bills had traded a draft pick or two for Boldin, and know that we have him to build with for 4 or 5 years?

If the Bills don't make the playoffs this coming season (and I don't think signing Owens assures them of winning many more games than they did last year), and Owens walks away after 2009, this coming season will have just been a wash, IMO. Say all you will about the wonderful media attention the Bills will get this coming season (realize, it will be focused almost entirely on TO and his mood swings), but if the Bills miss the playoffs again, and Owens leaves, so too will all the camera crews...

Now, I know that the TO signing has people feeling justified in saying the Bills aren't cheap...well, that may be true, but they sure don't spend wisely. Now, we are trying to drive Peters out of town... sure he owes the Bills something for taking a chance on him, and discovering that he is a pretty good LT. So, the Bills got their cheap years out of him... pay the guy something close to market value. Don't be penny wise, and pound foolish...

Here's the optimistic take on having TO here for one year. James Hardy and Steve Johnson were rookies last year and did not do very much. With another year where they are able to practice and contribute in limited game situations, we will have a better idea if between them we might have netted a viable #2 receiver. There won't be huge resources tied up in an aging player at the #2 spot so the team can look for assistance if it appears that neither will pan out, but if one of them steps up they won't have to languish on the bench.

As I said, the optimistic take. I'm not sure I believe it, but there is definitely a chance that something along these lines could happen.

This is my take too. Sign Bertrand Berry as a pass rush specialist, Re- sign Peters and Crowell (today??) and draft Pettigrew and a solid guard in round 2.

Championship!
