He would almost certainly supplant Orton as the starter in Chicago who didn't really do more than manage the team, at best. Now they just have to get some WR's to throw the ball to.

Simms doesn't strike me as a QB with any sort of an especially distinguished career.

If the Bears with the 18th pick select Percy Harvin out of Florida, that is if he is available, I think they would be making their team better on the offensive side of the ball.

Not for nuthin but any poster on this board could at least give Orton a run for his money.

Not to be argumentative, but I don't see Simms being an upgrade to Orton. Simms really has never showed me anything. I think more than anything, it would provide more of a competition for the qb position. Either way, I don't like none of the two.

Orton is pretty decent IMO. Look at his receivers - Marty Booker, Brandon Lloyd, and Davis. Would you be happy if any of those guys started on hte Bills??? Put some more talent on that offense and Orton will be pretty good IMO>

And why do people think Simms is good? Because of his last name? All I remember about him is he was a decent QB who wrongly started over Major Applewhite in college beause he was a big name recruit.

You may be right about Orton. Who knows? About Simms though, just my take, he seemed to be starting to put it all together on the field before the splien injury. He played well in the Tampa playoff game against Washington, that they should've won if it wasn't for a bum call on a TD reception late. I think he's never really had a fair shake either. Not trying to be a smart allack or anything, but where's Major Applewhite at now days? Not in the NFL.

Yeah, Simms does have some potential but it will be curious to see how he plays after such a long layoff.

And Applewhite was a better college QB than Simms. So guys are just suited to being really good at the college level. And he is a coach at Texas now.

Chris Simms? I will tell you why Chris Simms is so favorably looked at on this board...simply because he hasnt played in so long that people forget how bad he is. Its like the backup QB on your team that hasnt gotten into a game in 3 years. Once the starter struggles people start chanting for the backup as if he is the savior forgetting about the fact there is a reason he is a backup.
