Sonic Youth and other 90's alternative

I just checked to see if Pennywise was going to be in the Atlanta area anytime soon, hoping I'd pick tickets up and go. They're going to freaking be here *tomorrow* and we've company coming into town.

Damn it.

COC is great... toss in the Vandals, some DK (though I've never been that much of a fan)... and anything Mike Ness has been involved in.

I love Social D!

Bonus points if you can name who TOTD consisted of.

Bold are some of my favorites but I think most of these bands helped shape 90's music.

The earlier stuff was, though as the decade progressed, people learned that flannel and angst made money. Though I don't know if it fits as "alternative", I've always loved Pennywise, NOFX, Face to Face, Pitchshifter... I guess that fits more into the punk bin, though.

I felt the need to post here too as I'm a 90's kid.

Jeff, have you been checking out NOFX on Fuse? Pretty good reality show of them on tour. One of the better things on TV right now. Fat Mike and the road manager are pretty cool.

Also, going to see Pennywise in a couple weeks at this event. Beautiful venue and a full day of music. Even the weakest band there, Cypress Hill, has a couple tunes I like.

Make sure you check out Atreyu, they put on a good show, at least every time I have seen them they have.

Chris Cornell

Mike McCready

Stone Gossard

Jeff Ament

McCready is a great guitarist who is very underrated.

Another McCready side project which I LOVE is Mad Season! Layne Staley sings vocals and there is some eerie songs on there. It is like Layne is singing from the grave. If you like AiC- Mad Season is a must. Brilliant CD

Listen to this Mad Season song- chilling-

Above is a sick tune by them too

I love AIC. In fact I just saw them last year. William DuVall has done a decent job stepping in. I miss Laynie he was one of my favorite singers. I will look into Mad Season. Sounds great.

If anyone has or can locate a copy 'Kim the Waitress' by the Green Pajamas, please PM. Not the crappy Material Issue version,

Haven't heard the original in at least 15 years and have had no success in finding it.

live version

Yup, great show! Gotta wonder how 'screwed' they've been getting on the tour, though. Wonder if they really wind up playing shows for free like that?

Which Vandals/Bad Religion? is Albatross the 'Vote with a Bullet' album? It may be easier for you to just pickup an adapter for your record player and rip the files yourself, honestly. A friend of mine did that with a ton of old Punk albums.
