TDRupp Posted January 12, 2007 Share Posted January 12, 2007 I like Lynch but I would have liked to have seen a little more of him moving the pile and breaking tackles in that video, not saying he cant do that but most of those runs started with holes that I could run through. He did put some nice moves on defenders but he wont be running in the open field as much in the NFL as he did in college RBs can be had in the 2nd and 3rd rounds and they can perform just as good as a guy picked in the first round. Its one of the easier positions to fill on an NFL team The DT from Michigan will hopefully be wearing a Bills uniform next year You don't have to move the pile if you never have to hit it. While I don't know if he is high character at least the guy is what I believe is a very good (maybe great) team player and basically a humble guy. I will be shocked if Willis is on this team in 2008 regardless if we take Lynch or not. You have heard it before from Marc (and know he and Dick J believe it): you must be able to run the well. This guy is a Marshall Faulk kind of guy and will make our OL and WR, TE's and JP better by just doing what he does. Check out the highlights for your self. This guys translates to the NFL very well IMHO. That said, if the guy runs a 4.4 anything (sure looks like he will) in Indy or at Cal he is not going anywhere but the top 15 and I venture to say he may be top 10, easy. When I watch Adrian Peterson and this guy, I like this guy better b/c he is such a tough runner. You are right. He does not move a pile very well b/c the pile does not stay a pile. TDRupp Posted January 12, 2007 Share Posted January 12, 2007 Looks like he has very strong legs, makes very nice strong crisp cuts, however he lacks the burst and top end speed. 12th pick in the 1st rd may be too hiigh, great 2nd rd pick, or late 1st. He looks all burst to me. You don't need world class speed if you have very, very good speed and great moves/burst and power. this guy does. BillsCelticsAngelsBama Posted January 12, 2007 Share Posted January 12, 2007 I have seen Marshawn Lynch play in person only once, but have seen several Cal games on the tube and I think he will be one of the best in the league within 2-3 years. He has a great desire and understands the game and where the first down markers are. I would be very happy if he wore a Bills Jersey next year as I think he is already better than anything on our roster,; in fact Willis is light years away from this guy. We need D-line help, O-line help and a MLB. If our first rounder isn't 1 of those 3 then Levy should be fired of old age. We must improve our lines...we MUST Agreed. Draft this in Rnd 1 and the pass blocking and run blocking becomes better when he is on the field. period. Then an OG and an OT in free agency or the draft in rnd 2-5 and it is improved in depth, talent, and lets not forget the obvious. We must improve the offense> Period. This guy makes everybody better. Sorry for repeating myself but we still need a replacement for Villariala (sp?) that wil compete or upgrade D. Preston and another OT prospect. The guy ran down Macpherson from Arkansas, probably the best runnig back in college. Led the SEC in tackles 2 strait years and runsin the 4.4 range and he can cover. If all the above is true, then he is gone in the top 10....Last year two impact LBs were drafted in the top 10....and if Willis is better than those guys, then he is gone in the 10. Would make a nice 1-2 punch with mcgahee for willis's contract year. Lorenzo Booker is going to be as big a steal for whoever drafts him in the 3rd or 4th as leon washington was last year. He's a back in the warrick dunn mold. Not an every down back, but can make plays whenever he touches it. Get him 10-12 carries and 5-7 catches per game, and watch him explode. I am not saying don't pick up Booker in the 3rd or 4th but get Lynch at 12 if there, if not then Booker may be a very good option. Think Warrick Dunn or Marshall Faulk? Much like the relationship between the success of both the defensive line and the cornerbacks, the running back and the offensive line have a similar relationship. IF Willis would stop dancing in the backfield and hit the !@#$ing hole that is created for him, maybe our offensive line would be sufficient enough for a decent running attack. I just don't see Willis stopping his dance recital, so who is to say that Lynch could not revitalize this running attack? Of course with line picks for both the defensive and offensive lines in the next two rounds. It's either Marshawn Lynch or Patrick Willis. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

While I agree with you, i'd imagine it's a little soon to annoint him the next Marshall Faulk. That being said he is faster, more decisive, runs harder, and is a better reciever than Willis is. The lack of a run game REALLY killed us this year and I think Marshawn would fix that problem. I realize we have other needs but we'd still have some high first day picks left even if we picked Lynch. Not to mention, a lot of FA money and a lack of experience at most of our needs positions.
