You mentioned the Allman Bros...so delete it from my "omission" list above. As a rule, I'm not a big live albus fan. But there are some great albums in this thread, and the best of the live albums are really outstanding. It's just that there are too many poor live albums, I guess. Here's a shock...I'm no fan of Steely Dan's Alive in America. It's the only Dan album I think is less than great...and I think it's way less than great. Haven't listened to them in a good long while, though. Even so, their unplugged set was great. Surprised they never released it. Some other choices of mine: Miles Davis / Cellar Door Sessions Coltrane / Live at the Village Vanguard Tony Conrad and Faust / Outside the Dream Syndicate Alive Richard Buckner / Live at Schubas Tavern Dylan / any of the bootleg series that have come out including Live 1975, 1964, 1966. I also have a couple Fugazi shows that they've started selling online. Tour - Radio City Music Hall. 3 Guys were able to sneak professional quality video camera's into one of the Radio City Shows (August, 2004), and produced an amazing DVD Boot! True alot of the Live Albums are mixed really bad. The reason I like live alums is more times then not the songs are longer and have some improv to them. Mad Dogs & Englishmen and despite being an official release, the Basement Tapes would probably take the cake for all live/bootlegs based on how it was conceived. He took a flier on the old Fillmore stuff and has turned a tremendous profit on it. They've got some really cool authentic posters and tshirts and the like from back in the day, if you've got the money to spare on that kind of stuff. As far as I know, it still has not been officially released, but it should be. Amazing performances. Dylan is in a great mood, joking with the crowd and really feeling it.
