Price has one good eye, couldn't make it in Dallas last year. Davis-has been a bust in the pros, evan the game he tied the record for the longest catch (at 99 yards) he couldn't break the 100 mark (1 catch for 99 yards) Josh reed-improved last year, but was at the end of his first contract. Roscoe-he's 5'8" 160 pounds, he is not Hall, Smith or Moss-he is Roscoe and he is small, and he can not get off of the line. Fast Freddie-funny thing is he is neither, his name really isn't freddie and he is not fast. aikens-still looking for the talent, great special teamer. I think that trading down is going to make sense since Ngata, Justice, or Bunkley will be available after #8, so why not get some extra picks? Perceived value controls whether we can trade down, so if another team perceives Cutler to be worth more than we do, trade down with that team (and hope our perception is right). Our value projection controls who we pick at a given spot, so if we stay at #8 we should pick the best player available, which would be any of the five you listed, but if they are gone COULD be a QB. But if we can't trade down, we have to decide if we think Cutler is a better football player than Bunkley or Ngata or Justice or Huff. I'm not sure it is 100% certain, and if it isn't clear I'd lean away from QB (faith in Losman) and to the lines. But only if I honestly think that player is better than Cutler (in value over replacement player, to borrow a term from baseball). But I see our best move as picking one of your five if they slide, or trading down (not too far I hope) for a Cutler-happy team and still getting one of the players we target. 663410[/snapback] Thanks for the compliment. Both of them had one very good college season last year. Both of them have had leg injuries. Both of them are strong freaks. Both of them need to improve their techniques to be solid NFL players; talent alone will not get it done. Brodrick is not perfect. I've seen him disappear in games. He's a smaller NG who makes up for his lack of size with quickness, but against cat-quick lineman he loses the initiative and can be neutralized. Anyway, I like Kiper's mock draft. Ramius Posted April 17, 2006 Share Posted April 17, 2006 Here is the problem though, you're asking me to ignore the fact that Bunkley didnt produce until last season, that he was...essentially...a glorified back-up at FSU because he couldnt crack the top talent there. You're asking me to ignore the injuries, the torn ACL and MCL in the same knee. You're asking me to ignore the lack of size and how he might struggle with the bigger OGs and Centers he'll see in the NFL. Instead, I'm supposed to be happy that he had ONE good season, that just so happened to be his last? I'm not advocating Ngata by the way either, and the Wadsworth comment was made in terms of the effort that he gave once he reached the NFL. I just dont see that much of a gap between Ngata, Bunkley and the rest of the DT field in this draft...so why waste a #8 overall pick on one when we could easily get a solid starter in the 2nd or possibly even 3rd round that are essentially equal talent? Ngata has his faults, but so does Bunkley...both of which scare me off either of them. I understand as an FSU fan you're obligated to give the guy some love, but I just dont want to take a chance on someone with SO many question marks over his consistency and talent translation into the NFL. 663382[/snapback] Coming from another 'Nole, i also think you are way off on your assesment of bunkley. the guy was an extremely disruptive force down here at FSU, and prior to this year, was part of a DT rotation. He'd be much better than the tub of goo from oregon. That being said, with the amount of DT talent in this draft, i really hope we take Huff or Davis with our #1. Stovall would be HUGE, but I would LOVE to have Martin Nance instead. I'm gonna give the big no to O'Callaghan, he's a great athelete and could be the second or third best tackle out there, but he's injury-prone and that'd be a bust off the bat. Darnell Bing would be nice, but Daniel Bullocks would be a better fit IMHO, he's a talented player with speed and size who can also make the big hits if he can get his head in the right place every down. However, until the line and QB position is solidified, it wouldn't matter if we had Randy Moss and Terrell Owens (on their best behavior) runnig routs. I am pretty sure Evans is a stud, Price may be underrated (I rarely say that about anyone!) by Bills fans, and Davis kind of intrigues me, and Reed, I believe is going to have a solid season. Parrish, Aiken and Freddie do nothing for me. I hope I am wrong, but I think Parrish was one of the worst Bills draft picks of the Donohoe era.
