Bills Problem in a Nutshell

The Bills made some major moves to improve things. They hired one of the top line coaches in football, Jim McNally. They paid a gazillion dollars for a tackle, Mike Williams. They signed a tough guy guard, Chris Villarrial.

What you can't buy is attitude. That is supposed to come from within the players themselves. Thanks Larry! B)

Disagree however i do belive williams is overpaid for the job he is doing and has done. sooooo the nemero uno problemo on this team is the year extension they gave to drew, followed by the money and the play by mike williams. not to mention the hole at left gaurd and center. teague really hasn't looked bad this year but he'd be alot better at his natural position. should've cut ties with drew......... and picked up warner or garcia. theres your problem in a nutshell.

Really?

I guess this assessment is based on the what? That these two guys would actually be BETTER with the Bills than the teams for which they currently play?

Otherwise, how could they have been better choices based on their play so far this year.

Garcia, for all the money he is making, is dead last in virtually every category upon which a QB is judged (with Drew's stats in parens for comparison).

His QB rating is an abysmal 42.2 (86.3). His yards per attempt YPA is an abysmal 4.92 (7.02). His completion percentage is an abysmal 45.1 (60). Yeah, we should have definitely signed him instead of Drew. I'm sure he would be so much better with the Bills. :flirt:

Or maybe it should have been Brunell?

Yeah he ain't much better. QB rating 67.3. (86.3) YPA of 5.17 (7.02) Comp% of 54.8. (60) Oh yeah, MUCH better than Drew! :D

And for Warner? He is only slightly better than Drew in these categories:

QB rating 89.2 (86.3) YPA of 7.13 (7.02) Comp% 62.3 (60). Oh and he's been sacked 6 times to Drew's 8.

Wow! For those vast improvements, better to have brought in a guy who hadn't won a start in two years, had serious question marks about his oft injured hand and whether he could even grip a ball well enough to still be effective.

Oh, and the other huge difference between Drew and those other guys above. They are 1-1 vs 0-2. But what is clear is that their individual performances in no way account for that win when compared to Drew. That is especially true of Garica and Brunell. What accounts for that one more win is that they had teammates who actually made a few more plays or a few less mistakes (actually I gotta say more than a few for Brunell and Garcia LOL!) that led to a win.

An even more stark example of this is Matt Hasselbeck, who is 2-0 in his two starts this year, Boy if we only had him, huh? But the funny thing is, his individual performances have not been as good as Drew's.

His stats rank him 7 spots below Drew in QB rating 75.8 (86.3). His YPA is virtually identical at 7.15 (7.02) and his COMP% is 56.4 (60). Yet, he is 2-0 in his starts this year. He's been sacked 5 times to Drew's 8. Ahh you say, "He's a winner. He knows how to win. He's a leader." Blah blah.....

Every one of the afore-mentioned QBs plays for a team that is 1-1 or 2-0, three with lesser individual performances and one with virtually the same as Drew.

The difference between Drew's 0-2 and every one of the above mentioned QBs is TEAM.

Oops I did it again. Apologizing for Drew. The ONLY thing I would like to apologize for is the short-sighted and dimwitted desire of so many Bills fans to blame everything on our QB. :D

The Bills' problem in a nutshell is that it's been built around a running attack with no traction and a subordinate, passing game featuring receivers that can't catch balls from a QB who can't throw all the while being unprotected by the Offensive Line.

So Travis is hurt, but he's our starter and he has to play.

Willis is recovering and he'll play someday.

We have no fullback.

Travis hates Willis being on the team.

Great chemistry building there in our Run First offense.

Drew is just about one helmet hit shy of meandering off the field to pick dazies in Montana.

Moulds is a shadow of his former self.

Reid is a shadow.

Evans is an enigma.

We have no Tight Ends that can catch.

Our Offensive Linemen are simply offensive. They're not NFL caliber Linemen.

Right now our best player is a punter.

Well, Punt THIS!

It's hard to do any Talkin' Proud about this bunch.

Funny though you don't mention how the Jacksonville D stymied the vaunted Bronco running game, or the Raiders did the same to the Steelers. Our running game will be fine but isn't going to show "great" numbers until we face a team that isn't excellent vs. the run and we develop more of a threat in the passing game.
