Going from Crennel, to Mangini, to Pees is a huge step downwards for the Pats. Crennel had been a DC for 9 years (I didn't realize he joined the Pats prior to the 2001 season and thought he'd been there since Belichick joined in 2000) and has been a coach in the NFL for 24 years while Mangini has been a DC for 1 year but has been an NFL coach for 12 years. Pees became an NFL coach just last year (LB'ers) and didn't do much to distinguish himself. If anything, the Pats' LB'ers took a big step back with Brown and Beisel being busts, Vrabel having a sub-par year, and Bruschi needing to come back to save the unit.
