Absolutely the Chiefs can miss. Yesterday's loss to the Broncos ended their hopes of winning the division but they still have a shot at a WC.

Colts at Chiefs. What is the better outcome for the Bills. A Chiefs loss really puts their season in jeopardy, and it would be nice to go into the AFC playoffs and not have to deal with them. However, the Colts are 8-2 and if the Bills want a shot at the #1 seed, they need them to lose another game just like we need the Pats to drop another game.

if we lose on Thursday, go Colts.  If we win, go Chiefs

That's a good way of looking at it. The Bills do have to handle their own business for any of the other outcomes to matter.

I’m sure it has a lot to do with them sending us home for the last however many years but seeing Mahomes pop up after that last sack begging for a flag that 15 times out of 10 he gets to extend the drive and seeing his face when it didn’t fly warmed my heart like few things have

I expect the worst playoff record for the wild card to be 11-6, which means that KC can only lose once more for a likely playoff berth. Obviously if someone 10-7 makes it they will have a little more leeway but still not a ton.

It's possible a team will make the playoffs at 10-7, but it won't be the Chiefs.

As I see it, it's a three-way race for two spots between the Jaguars, Chargers and Chiefs.

The Jaguars are already 6-4 with games left at Cardinals, vs Jets, vs Titans, at Titans. They should find a way to get to 10 wins. Their other three games are: at Colts, vs Colts, at Broncos. The Chiefs lose the tiebreaker to the Jags.

The Chargers are 7-4 with games left vs Raiders, vs Eagles, at Chiefs, at Cowboys, vs Texans, at Broncos (possible Denver rest spot). The Chargers will improve to 8-4 with a win over the Raiders. They then must find a way to scrape out two more wins. If the Chargers get to 10 wins, with one of those wins coming vs KC or Denver, they automatically would finish ahead of KC if both finished 10-7.

There is actually a very realistic scenario where the Chiefs could miss the playoffs even at 11-6. It would require the Jags beating the Cards, Jets, Titans x2, plus ONE of the following: at Colts, vs Colts, at Broncos.

*AND*

The Chargers beating the Raiders, Chiefs, Cowboys and EITHER the Texans or Broncos. Again, this is highly doable. So if the Chiefs want to make the playoffs, I think 11-6 is an absolute must. But more specifically, it needs to be 11-6 with a win against the Chargers.

They could miss or they could find ways to close out games and win out

5 loses by 6,3,3,7,3.

I see the story being set up , courtesy of the league, to add to mahomes "legacy"

From 5-5 to AFC Champions

Tony Romo is gonna be drooling over the chiefs and how they overcame down the stretch.

I think that if there is a mathematical chance of KC getting into the playoffs in week 18, they will make it.

If they are going to be eliminated it will have to happen in week 17 at the latest.

Outside of the AFC North I think there is a chance that every playoff team will have 11 wins at minimum.

I agree with you that they won’t miss it BUT I don’t think Denver or Chargers will collapse. More likely that all 3 make the playoffs.

I can see Steelers collapsing and ravens winning the division to be the 4 seed.

I can see it being:

1. patriots

2. broncos

3. colts

4. ravens

5. bills

Chiefs, Jags and Chargers fighting it out for the final 2 spots and my gut says even after the jags impressive win today they’ll be the team sitting on the outside

Agreed. Three WC will be: Patriots/Bills, Chiefs and Chargers

Can you imagine being a 2 seed and your reward is getting Reid/Mahomes? Yikes.

Look out for that Dallas game. I'm not so convinced they win. Dallas has a bad D. But their offense is lethal. Chiefs will be favored. But keep an eye out.
