Moody Blues' bassist and singer John Lodge has died at the age of 82.

Lodge was a key member of the band and played on some of their most iconic songs, including Nights in White Satin, Question, and Isn’t Life Strange.

“It is with the deepest sadness that we have to announce that John Lodge, our darling husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law and brother, has been suddenly and unexpectedly taken from us,” his family commented in a statement.

“John peacefully slipped away surrounded by his loved ones and the sounds of the Everly Brothers and Buddy Holly. We will forever miss his love, smile, kindness and his absolute and never-ending support.”

At 82 years of age I'd have to say Mr. Lodge lived a full life. I've seen them live 4 times in my life and every time you'd swear they're lip syncing because their live music sounds identical to their recordings... and especially so when they have the local Philharmonic Orchestras playing behind them!

One of my all time favorite groups... in fact we had a family member recite part of one of their songs as part of our wedding ceremony.

By the way T&C... it's Knights In White Satin.

Sorry, but that's not correct.    It's Nights in White Satin.

The tune (not the single) was originally referred to as "The Night", which was on Days of Future Past from 1967.

Seeing the Moody Blues at the San Jose Event Center in 2007 remains one of my top 5 all time concerts I've ever seen. Glad I got to see such an iconic band.

A great/legendary band that I grew up liking, seeing them a couple times in the ‘70’s. Then like 10-15 years later, my mother and her generation started listening to them taking some of the hipness out of it. Same thing went for bands like ELO, The Eagles, Fleetwood Mac and others I saw as a teen in the ‘70’s that eventually had cross over appeal to the uncools of the silent generation going into their 40’s during 80’s and 90’s decades.

If it had happened with Black Sabbath, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and that ilk, then I don’t know what I’d do, but it might have been drastic.
