MEANWHILE in the SCHUMER SHUTDOWN THREAD. Emergency services are generally provided by hospitals. Illegal immigrants will still get sick and show up in ER's. Stopping payment for emergency services will result in nearly $9 billion in unreimbursed care for hospitals and providers. This is on top of the medicaid cuts in the big, bad bill which will result in unreimbursed care. So hospitals and providers will be the ones punished by stopping payments for these patients. They must provide care for anyone showing up to an ER because of EMTALA laws. It's almost as if trump wants some hospitals to go broke. At least, that will be the effect. How much would it be without illegal aliens?

AverageAllensSuspensor Posted October 4 Posted October 4 So when is the president going to show some leadership/strength and solve this? 1
Wolfgang Posted October 4 Posted October 4 I have a simple solution... The Democrats have a Trump Card that they could play on Monday, and Trump would be forced to surrender to their demands... All they have to do is begin the process of releasing the Epstein Files... Since a great number of people believe that he is a raging pedophile in cahoots with Epstein... I would think that Trump would capitulate to the Democrats' demands... So tell me Democrats, how is this Trump card not being played yet by your leadership?

Wolfgang Posted October 4 Posted October 4 Just now, Joe Ferguson forever said: It's part of the solution. The other is to stop medicaid cuts. There is only one solution... Remove ALL of the illegals... No more housing shortage either... You might even get some homeless Americans off the streets in such a scenario... As for medical insurance... That is what re-shoring jobs can accomplish without the government welfare model as a long term solution... Then again, the people who benefit from cheap domestic illegal alien labor are also the same people that love investing in companies that off-shore even more US industry, and they would not be pleased... 1 1
unbillievable Posted October 5 Posted October 5 Its amazing how much the Liberal bubble is isolating the Democrats. If listen to social media, you'd assume that the shutdown was helping them win the next election. They truly so far left, that they can't see how the middle is reacting to this. It's still a constant "Trump, Trump, Trump" mantra...

B-Man Posted October 6 Author Posted October 6 Even NBC Knows It's the Schumer Shutdown and That Democrats Own It Matt Margolis Even NBC’s Meet the Press couldn’t ignore the Democrats’ stunning hypocrisy over the government shutdown fight—and Hakeem Jeffries found himself on the defensive when Kristen Welker pressed him about it. On Sunday morning, Welker challenged the House minority leader over his repeated claims that the current standoff is a “Republican shutdown,” pointing out that it’s Democratic senators—not Republicans—who are holding up the vote on a clean continuing resolution that would keep the government open. “But let me ask you,” Welker began, “because you say this is a Republican shutdown. But it’s Democratic senators who are withholding their votes on what is called a clean resolution. That means no strings attached, which is something, quite frankly, Leader, that you and other Democrats have advocated for in the past.” She then rolled a clip showing leading Democrats — including Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Jeffries himself — declaring in past years that it was wrong to use a government shutdown as leverage for partisan demands. For example, back in September 2023, Nancy Pelosi said, “You do not use the threat of shutting down government to try to advance your policy agenda.” That, of course, is exactly what Democrats have done. “First thing that the House has to do is pass a clean, six-week CR,” said then Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) Which is exactly what Republicans voted to do. But the best part was that Welker included a clip of Hakeem Jeffries himself, back in November 2023, saying, “A continuing resolution that is at the fiscal year 2023 levels is the only way forward.” After the montage, Welker pressed Jeffries again: “Why not fund the government and debate extending Obamacare tax credits after the fact? They don’t expire till the end of the year.” The question went straight to the core of the Democrats’ strategy— holding up a straightforward, short-term funding bill until they can stuff it with billions in new Obamacare subsidies and other progressive wish-list items. The disconnect between their past moralizing and their current behavior is glaring. What we’re witnessing isn’t leadership; it’s the purest form of hypocrisy. The Schumer Shutdown perfectly captures everything wrong with the modern Democratic Party’s approach to governing—rules for thee, never for me. https://pjmedia.com/matt-margolis/2025/10/05/even-nbc-knows-its-the-schumer-shutdown-and-democrats-own-it-n4944509
