  • Walking Tall changed the title to Church shooting in Michigan. Church on fire. Multiple victims.

So two mass shootings today, both former Marines. Michigan guy looks like the central casting Rural Trump Supporter and they say Google maps captured a Trump sign on his fence this summer. So what's his beef with the Mormons?

Carolina guy just seems batshit crazy. Wounded in Iraq, which I'm sure has something to do with it.

Again: Charlie Kirk was a rarity; it is foolish to characterize these shooters as Democratic or Republican when the Crazy overwhelms any possible political motivation.

Crazy + Guns + Social Media. That's all there is to say.

It's ironic that churches in America are at far greater risk of violence than they are in Iran...

Americans cannot face the possibility that there are more organized political goals behind domestic terrorism...

They cling to the lone nut narratives in order to avoid the implications of what a closer examination might reveal...

The song remains the same...

Trump Sign Found Outside Home of Michigan Church Shooting Suspect, Sparks Debate

Stupid game to play. Do you think he did this because he IS a trump/Maga nut job? I don't.

How *****en crazy do you think someone needs to be to do something like this, any of these mass shootings? It's the first thing I think of when I see it. You need to have a screw loose in a major way to kill anybody, shooting or not. I could never kill anybody. I can only imagine the only way I could is if I lost my mind.

How bout we not do that and strengthen and enforce gun laws.

False Dilemma

Also sometimes referred to as a “false dichotomy,” this is a fallacy in which one incorrectly places limitations on one’s possible options in a given scenario. This fallacy rests on the false premise that one is faced with a binary choice when it’s possible that multiple options are available. In essence, this occurs when one reduces the array of available options and alternatives to a simplified either-or condition.

Example 1:

If you aren’t a capitalist, you must be a communist.

I'm not sure if you know this but criminals don't follow the law.

You know what is very illegal?  Fentanyl.  I bet you can't find that anywhere in the US because it's illegal right?

Just to give you a stat.

In Kennesaw, GA you are required to own a gun.  If you live in the city limits of Kennesaw, you have to own a gun.

They have had about 6 murders in the last 20 or so years.

For comparison, Chicago has had 308 murders this year, that number will certainly go up by December 31 and Chicago has one of the nations strongest gun laws.

I don't understand, stricter gun laws are supposed to keep the murder rate down?

Why have any laws, then?

Because crime would happen all the time.  Is this a serious answer?

You crack down on the criminals, get them off the street.  Not give them cashless bales because zero consequences do nothing.

I mean come on.

Criminals commit crimes all the time regardless of the law.  You know how you prevent them from committing crimes?  Stiffer penalties.

I mean use common sense.

If you're violent criminal and you get arrested, don't suffer any real consequences each time, get let back out on the street....what would motivate them to stop committing crimes?  Nothing!  You don't get in trouble for doing it.  Or if you're a 14 repeat offender, you shouldn't be on the streets at all because you clearly don't respect the law.

This is common sense.

OMG, an opinion piece lol.

Why not just look at the data lol?

You can look up crime and murder stats.

Where are you more likely to be shot and killed?  Kennesaw, GA or Chicago, IL?

Just because Scientific America says you're more likely to be killed in Kennesaw than Chicago doesn't make it true.

How about this?  Lets text each other at 2:00 am, I will be walking down the streets in Kennesaw.  You walk down the streets in Chicago.

Deal?

you posted the data and came to an incorrect conclusion.  Shocked.  You want an academic paper summarizing data?  Look for yourself as I know that you'll reject anything that I cite.  Those papers are there for u to peruse.

Ad hominem

An abbreviated phrase meaning “to the person,” argumentum ad hominem refers to an argument which relies on an attack directed at the speaker rather than the substance of the speaker’s argument. This rhetorical strategy is often fallacious in nature, employing an approach designed to discredit the character, substance or motive of a person in lieu of deconstructing the person’s claims.

Example 1

Speaker 1: I think the idea of a moral law requires the existence of a lawgiver (i.e. God).

Speaker 2: Of course you would say that. You’re a Christian. Why should we listen to you?

What data did I have an incorrect conclusion?
